Shred (2008 Video)

Another Great Extreme sports comedy!
8 November 2008
SHRED is one of many snowboard themed extreme sports comedies over the years many have been so many like this they all follow the same formula some evil rich guy is threatening the mountain in some way and its up for the party dude snowboarders to shred it up and save the day.

The Daddy of all Snowboard comedies is OUT COLD which is by far the best however SHRED although it dosen't quite take the crown from OUT COLD it does make a pretty good job of it.

Dave Englund from (jackass) and his brother are ageing ex snowboard pros who had it all then lost it and now work on a mountain operating lifts they wanna taste the big time again so set up a camp for up and coming snowboarders. But Tom Green is the evil rich dude who they played pranks on back in the day he will stop at nothing to shut them down. It's full of pranks partying and snowboarding its exactly what you expect from it and the sequel is already well into production.

Marshall's Worst
18 May 2008
Dog Soldiers was amazing the Descent was also fantastic but i knew that Neil MArshall would come acropper at some point and sadly this is it.

The Trailer looked pretty good the film is just a mess from the basic write ups and the trailer you think this is gonna be Mad Max meets Escape from New York which seemed OK but what do we get? 28 Days Later meets Underworld meets Escape From New York meets Mad Max meets Hills have eyes meets speed.

and as much as a combination of those movies sounds good it really isn't the one thing this movie does do is contribute to the worst villains of alltime list with the Terrible SAUL so bad he could be a contender for Bennet(Commando) crown.

Speed Racer (2008)

Visually Great but a little confusing
18 May 2008
Ever since i saw the first trailer for speed racer i wasn't sure if i wanted to see it or hide from it i really couldn't make my mind up.

after sitting down and watching I'm glad i did it is really enjoyable and the style of it is visually pleasing the wachowski's definitely scored again with an effects movie.

The bad points to it was keeping the cartoon feel mixed with the live action it moved to fast and at some points you could easily loose track of what was essentially a pretty simple plot.

Also the races again they moved so fast now i know thats the point of the movie but a lot of the intensity of some of the race scenes was hard to capture.

It isn't a masterpiece but it is a lot of fun and it's well divided between lovers and haters but its worth checking out.

Karate Kid meets Fight Club Meets Only the strong meets every other teen flick
21 March 2008
This is just like every other teen flick full of over the top pretty American teens the high school stuff is terrible and gringe worthy along with the romance . the 2 lead actors are look alikes of Tom Cruise and Paul walker and thats one of the movies Plus points getting to see guys that look like 2 of the most annoying people in Hollywood kick the cack out of each other is great.

To be fair the fight scenes aren't bad and even the training sequences are bearable shame there set to an awful soundtrack.

The plot is mega predictable and if you have seen the karate kid and only the strong it pretty much borrows everything from those 2 movies.

It's Def not worth seeing at the flicks unless you are a typical Hollywood American teenager. But for something to watch once on DVD just for the fights then it ain't bad.

Possibly one of the Cinematic Experiences you will ever have
15 November 2007
I just got back from seeing this on IMAX in 3D and all i can say is WOW! its truly memorizing and very well done and actually pretty gruesome in parts. the actors performances are fantastic and u really see them thru the CG Anthony Hopkins and Ray Winstone perform some of the best work in there career. the 3D really works and you will indeed be ducking and dodging many spears swords and Blood Throughout. go see it and if you can go IMAX. i cant see it having the same effect on a home screen so most definitely a cinema trip u wont feel the buzz of it at all unless u see it in full glorious 3D. i couldn't really fault it but im sure many people will pick a lot of holes in it

starts out as an average crime comedy thriller and turns into a comedy horror Splatter fest
21 October 2007
Wow this one really caught me by surprise wasn't expecting much from it and it has turned out to be one of the gems of the year in my eyes what starts out as an average crime comedy thriller and turns into a comedy horror Splatter fest it's genius and by far the best thing stephen dorf's been involved with in years.

For those of you not familiar with this stephen dorf plays a guy who owes a Russian mobster big time and keeps cocking up heists and is given one more chance to steal a cross in Russia with 2 even more bumbling sidekicks which leads to a hostage situation from there onwards it unravels into a weird blend of of hostage movie / slasher flick with serial killers death traps and lunatic hostages.

it lacks a lot of the gore the original had and isn't very shocking at all!
31 May 2007
Before i start this i will be Brutally honest and say i didn't like the first HOSTEL there was parts of it i didn't mind but in general it was a huge let down considering the hype. Every Interview and article i read or see with Eli Roth he seems like a good guy with a huge knowledge on the horror genre so why on earth does he keep churning out bad movies? I read an article the other day and it really sold hostel 2 for me i liked the idea of following the 2 separate groups of characters the killers and the victims so i was keen to give the sequel a shot. it lacks a lot of the gore the original had and isn't very shocking at all! the first half of the film is incredibly slow and u really don't get to know the characters as well as you should. Then as soon as the half way mark is reached the General Killing commences and considering its the movies main selling point it is a huge let down! and lets face it this has been the year for terrible sequels.

Now thats what i call an ACTION COMEDY!!!!
14 February 2007
From start to finish this is just 100% Brilliant i had been super excited about this film and the build up to release for me was kinda like back in 1999 when i was waiting for Episode 1 to come out. so i was excited yet nervous that this could turn out to be a disappointment but thankfully the worries over this is 2hours of really funny comedy some intense action and a really good PLOT!! it's very well thought out and although it's got some over the top comedy the story stays tight and enjoyable with some really good Thriller elements and the odd bit of Gore all in all this is the perfect follow up movie to Shaun Of The Dead and it proves once again that PEGG,WRIGHT and FROST are Geniuses!

Amazing!
6 January 2007
I stumbled across this short Online last summer and it bought my attention to the fantastic talent of the BIZJACK FLEMCO guys. this particular short can best be described as MAD shot on super 8 the general look of the Film is great if this had be shot on digital or any other format it just wouldn't work. what they have managed to do here is Create a really disturbing yet Hilairous 6 minute film. the sound design also helps the film along its way and you think to yourself this is pretty messed up but its so funny. All in all a top 6mins of pure Independent art at its best go check it out. and a follow up Cannibal Girl and incest boy is now in the works i cant wait for that one!!

not the best
11 August 2006
OK so the 3rd installement of the I KNOW WHAT YOU DID FRANCHISE This is DTV release so there's a smaller budget but I'm a fan of smaller budgets.

but this just didn't do it for me the acting wasn't up to much but that doesn't always matter in cheap and cheerful slasher movies what really gets me about a lot of the DTV sequels is the lack of humour. humour doesn't cost anything.

it's seems like the writer and director cared more about making the film looking ultra modern and stylish and to be honest it really let the whole thing down.

there's some really awful shots the director must have thought o it looks cool to shoot this at a funny angle.

the script was also really dull.

the only thing i liked about this movie was the last 15 mins the action does pick up a bit.
