The Super Mario Bros. Movie (2023)
Capturing Nostalgia
The Super Mario Brothers movie delivers a good time. At first it might be unassumingly typical. As the movie progresses you will find delight whether you're an avid game player or not. You don't have to be a video game player to enjoy this movie. In fact the movie is self explanatory. For those who have played the game through the years it's capture the game and all its parts very well. Give the movie a try you won't be disappointed, the star lusters cast do well in delivering all the characters well. The last thing I have to say about the movie it self is, "Peaches, Peaches, Peaches, Peaches"
Hellraiser (2022)
It's going to rip your heart out
Hellraiser 2022 has its down falls mostly in the costumes sometimes they look a bit too rubbery, but in the overall visual aspect it did not take away from the a good movie quality. The horror comes not from jump scares, these are classic horror images of the odd, gore and right out creepy looking cenobites. The story is written well and leaves you wondering how could anyone go through such unimaginable horror. Overall it does justice to Clive Barker vision of the original with different approach in terms of storyline. If you prefer other types of horror instead of gory, bloody, and weird this is not for you. I enjoyed this film mainly because that they brought the story back for modern times.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (2022)
Its not the Film, get that straight!
Comparing these to the film is a mistake. The film brought us the world of middle earth to the screen and romanticized many of the aspect of LOTR that we know now. The show it self is visually stunning, the acting is in par with LOTR lore that we have witness this far. Where it does fall short, sometimes we are not sure where the acting and setting is leading but I take this to be on purpose as the story develops. Many point that Galadriel is not what they expected. This largely in part because they wanted to show her in her more vulnerable not powerful self, but ignored that she been alive for thousand of years. This does not take away form the overall pleasure of the show. Watch it!
Hocus Pocus 2 (2022)
Not Perfect
We live in a world where the second world has to be as good as the first or it looses the interest of the masses. This film is not like the first, there are themes which are sadly recreated to fit the structure of the first film. This is where it does fall flat, but the second part of the film is a new adaption to its series. Most of us who enjoyed this film were teens or children when the first debut I was 9, and if you allow yourself to indulge in nostalgia, as this is what this film was about, and gave us an ending despite it being a very Disney ending. The overall point was to set it up for future installments. Its not perfect but I'm glad i got to see them one more time as the Sandersons Sisters.
Mr. Harrigan's Phone (2022)
Psychological
Mr. Harrigan's Phone is not on the edge thriller, there are no jump scares. The terror comes from what if someone was still reaching you from the unseen world. What if you could continue to some how have contact would this be a good thing or would it end up being a bad thing. The unseen forces that play with Craig ask us to face those questions. It plays more like a book than movie and that's a nice quality. If your looking for something new this is not it, but the movie was directed flawlessly and the acting that is played out is done well and characters are developed nicely through out the film. I hope you enjoy this film as much as I did.
Countdown (2019)
Give it a chance!
Countdown has classic elements of horror, the story is not the most original. I can attest that this movie will scare you, so if you are looking for a good date night movie it's worth watching it. The acting is great, the story is not something extremely we haven't seen but it surely does a good job of delivering it's product a countdown of death. Don't be fooled by the reviews.
Frozen II (2019)
Watch it! It's amazing.
Frozen II is not frozen (I) but it sure delivers. The movie starts off slow, but quickly avalanches into a flurry of fun. It has strong comedic elements much more than the first, but keeps one on the edge of their seats with action packed scenes. There's mystery to be unraveled, what will Elsa, Anna, Olaf, Sven and Kristioff do! as we see their return each one has an equal part in this adventure.
Doctor Sleep (2019)
Great Classic Horror Film
Doctor Sleep has very dark themes that deal with the human psyche. It explores "the shining" or the ability to see beyond the veil of human experience. It begs you to ask whose really there and are you alone when you stare down a dark hallway or a dark closet? The filmography has low lights and dark settings. It's not a jump out scare flick, it has monster that more associated with dying and the nature of dark human existence, and with occasional tones of the type of skeletons one keeps. Overall I really enjoyed the psychological themes in Doctor Sleep. It will keep you engaged.
Terminator: Dark Fate (2019)
We wonder why
We wonder why James Cameron, and other writers don't give amazing content all the time, maybe it because we complain about something that has no relevance to the actual filmography. This film is ACTION pack, and set up terminator for future films. Yes content wise there are thing I disagree on.
No it's not due to supposed political correctness, I opposed a shift in story line, but in a greater spectrum it's a sci-fi film with heavy sci-fi themes such as time altering time, robots, and artificial intelligence, that delivers.
It's as good as T2 it doesn't replace it, it not meant to, people are screaming there head off because it features some Mexican content. Do you honestly believe if we were over run by machine you would care whose saving you?
The Curse of La Llorona (2019)
A Review
It's apparent that everyone has become an experts at making films, but see lack of these same critics attempting at better. This has standard element of these kind of haunting films, this does not diminish it's ability to scare an audience. I find it funny that we've been desensitized to these haunting films as a result we see ghost, demons, and creatures of the unknown as common. Yet I bet a majority won't wake up at night and pray to la llorona or go to the local store and buy a Ouija board, because your afraid. If these supposed scares are overdone and overrated then I call the curse of la llorona to haunt you in your dreams and see who runs and hide like the intense scenes in this film.
The film is overall a good Saturday night movie filled with some dramatic and horror scenes. The only issue I did have with the film is that they tied it in with the conjuring/Annabelle films in attempt to heighten its appeal. The mood of the transitions to the horror parts are quick enough to keep you engaged. I personally thought the antagonist was terrifying. Watch it and decided for yourself.

Halloween (2018)
Must See
Must See in theater! Scary fun and entertaining! The movie brings Haddon field to life all ovee again and keeps you at the edge of your seat
Black Swan (2010)
Haunting
A beautiful tragedy, with many complex layers. The passion and pain transcended reality transforming you into the "Black Swan". Leaving you longing for a grip on reality. Leaving you as battered, tired, and accomplished as Nina Sayers played by Natalie Portman.
The acting was amazing the remaining cast fully support Natalie Portman, in her long journey of becoming the Black Swan. The story is gritty, dark full of passion and mystery.
Do yourself a favor and give this movie a chance, do not be fooled by user reviews that bash the movie, they have missed a master piece and have misinterpreted, the nature of the film.
Between Love & Goodbye (2008)
Not as awful as most think
I give it 8/10 I wont deny that there are some acting issues in some parts of the film. Despite some acting errors and issues the film and its plot are as one other reviewer stated to summarize are event that can and probably has happened to a few ( you must watch the film to discover for yourself what happened). In short the drama the two main character put themselves through is nothing short of what is consider a destructive relationship, and for some including my self have experience such type of relationship. After all how does one learn through experience, and if you were lucky enough to avoid such destructive events, then here is your chance to experience what one might had experience. a Plus is a non-traditional ending, that moved my heart to great sadness.
The Strangers (2008)
If your used to drab mindless horror movies
If your used to drab mindless horror movies that deal with Aliens, Demon possessions and the occasional serial killer that wont die, this movie isn't for you.
This movie has substance, apart from the intro claiming its based on true events, if one would ignore that and watch the movie for its base value. A true film critique would see that this film has the making of a great twisted horror film.
A film that pulls you away from the overdone, and unto its own platform. Placing you in a tense situation with three unknown assailants making you feel that you want to beg for your own life as you watch it. The film is more of a real life situation, thing that you can expect if your not careful. Making you wonder what if that was me.
