Feud (2017)
Season 1 Excellent. Season 2 Beyond Horrible.
Season one Bette vs. Joan was amazing, have watched it several times. I was so looking forward to the second season. It was beyond horrible, I would even say unwatchable. It was like watching a joke, how could this be created by anyone associated with the first season?! It was superficial, obnoxious and worst of all, boring as anything could possible be. I kept waiting for the series to pick up, maybe just the first few episodes were bad. But no, it actually got worse with every episode, and that's not an easy thing to do with something as terrible as this. I don't even know what else to say, the worst series I've ever watched in my life, after season one which was the best. What happened?!
The Watcher (2022)
Great potential, bad production
This had great actors and great potential but when the main family starts acting like such victims, it removes any sympathy or interest in the show. Not just victims to the watchers but victims of everybody else in the cast, the neighbors, the police, the security guy, the real estate people, their own children! Couldn't watch past episode 3 and had to skip over much of it. Too bad, great potential though. Stop being such pathetic victims. The constant victimization just makes the whole thing unreal and unbelievable and you realize your watching a piece of fiction. Even the real people it was based on must have had more backbone.
Griefwalker (2008)
Great premise for a show, but poor execution
I watched this show from start to end and found many of the people interviewed to be genuine and their end of life scenarios to be very emotional and thought provoking. The problem I had was the haphazard interviews of Mr. Jenkinson, who always said very bizarre and nonsensical things. It was as if he always felt like he needed to answer every question with some deeply wise answer but most of this ideas made no sense and were deeply disappointing given his credentials. A child born with an ailment is coming from a parent's wrongdoing? How well remaining family members do after someone's passing will depend only on how bravely that person faced death? Very random, ridiculous ideas that he seemed to be making up as he was speaking. I honestly stopped respecting his opinions about 10 minutes into the movie and he never redeemed himself throughout the rest of the film.
Howards End (1992)
Nonsensical Rubbish
I've always heard about this movie but never actually watched it until recently. With such an amazing cast and all the Oscar nominations how could it be bad. Well, it wasn't bad, it was terrible. I am shocked that this could have ever been considered a classic. It has an unrealistic and confusing plot that doesn't seem to follow any logic. It just kept going on and on and getting stranger and stranger. I thought it must surely get better but then it just ended. Perhaps the Netflix version is edited and the pieces left out would have made the whole film make sense? It was two and a half hours so I can't imagine that it could be much longer. What a crazy disappointment this was. I'm embarrassed for the actors.
Missing Mom (2016)
Like watching a bad home movie
It's hard to believe that something shot so poorly and with such little substance or content could be turned into a movie that anybody would release. It was like watching a poor quality home movie. Uninteresting from beginning to end. You'd think him finding her at the end would be a high point in the movie, but even that falls completely flat. He found her, she doesn't really care. I'm embarrassed for this whole family.
Aida's Secrets (2016)
Movie Falls Flat
Siblings separated against the backdrop of WWII, being reunited and finding out they have different fathers, then to find out there's yet another third brother by a third father who's living in Canada. The third brother has the good sense to not want anything to do with this picture or his 2 half brothers. I think I know what Aida's secret was, that she couldn't keep her her legs together or her feet on the floor.
Testigo de otro mundo (2018)
Fell far short of my expectations
I had already heard the story of this man from Argentina who witnessed and entered a ufo spacecraft at a young age and it was fascinating. I was so excited to find that the film made about it was available on Amazon Prime so I watched it the next day. If I hadn't already been familiar with the story I would have been completely lost. It was not at all clear what this film was about and it moved so slowly and focused on his current life 30 years later of him living as a hermit. At no point did they discuss or animate the details of his actual encounter because according to the creator, it was too painful a subject to discuss with him?! So then don't make the movie, which was completely empty. So much potential, but zero realization. I was so disappointed and couldn't even pay attention the entire movie. Very bad film.
The Dark and the Wicked (2020)
Criminally bad horror movie
I have very low standards for horror movies even though I still enjoy watching them. This movie however was so bad I felt like someone robbed me of my $3.99 rental fee. There is absolutely no plot anywhere to be found in this film. I waited patiently for anything to make sense but it was in vain. It seems hard to believe but the ending was even worse than the entire movie, it just ends. The only way you know the movie has just ended is the credits. I know 2020 was a bad year but somehow this movie seems to have made it seem good by comparison.
Ammonite (2020)
A lot of potential, but plot fell flat
This movie had excellent actors and scenery but the plot went so slow for so long you realized early that it was going to be a disappointment in the end. From
zero to 200mph then back to zero. It's too bad really, superb acting.
Oddity Files (2012)
Would have been good , except......
I'll never understand these paranormal shows where the investigators ask any spirits present to make contact and touch them, then when they get touched they freak out and end the investigation like the wimps that they are. Please people, you are not meant to be paranormal investigators!!! Perhaps, Clayton, a nice show about crocheting or knitting would be more in your realm of comfort.
The Stranger (2020)
So slow moving we just couldn't make it past 2 episodes!!
Perhaps this series picked up in plot and interest but I'm afraid I'll never find out. After the second episode I could barely keep my eyes open and I really wanted to enjoy this series because of all the great British actors in it. Sorry. :(
