Pride and Glory (2008)

Finally, a good solid movie (despite the big names)!

This is the kind of movie I like! These days it seems that all movies with an A-list cast are not movies at all, instead they're 'multi-platformed' projects that mutate what could be potentially good films into commercial ideas that can capitalize on everything from games to online community gimmicks.

In light of this, it's nice to see movies that are just movies! Back to 'Pride and Glory'.

This movie had a very strong script that felt very honest & humble, and what I mean by that is, it didn't need/rely on any extravagant twists/turns in order for it be interesting and suspenseful. It managed to intrigue and excite with a single plot.

The performance given by the actors in this film is what gives it the extra quality that makes it an especially good and entertaining movie. They all live up to their names/status and deliver solid performances that remind us why they're A-list actors. It's also worth mentioning that the supporting actors/actresses are equally impressive.

In conclusion, this was a great movie and I highly recommend it to everyone, especially action/drama fans!

Splinter (I) (2008)

Why bother?

1 out of 10 might be a bit harsh considering this movie was not as bad as the kind that leaves you hating the world and humanity as a whole... but rather, you're left indifferent.. which in my opinion is actually worse! Basically, this movie has the same effect as watching static for 82 minutes, it's a complete waste of time, it does not encourage the slightest brain activity...

As for the acting, script, production etc, all I can say is that the 'quality' of this film is consistent, it's bad! It's also important to mention that I actually enjoy the occasional B movie, but this one had nothing to offer, it evokes no emotions! Note: This comment bares no reflection on the talent of these actors, it's purely a critique of the film as a whole.

Fool's Gold (I) (2008)

Entertaining, especially those accents!

Fools Gold is exactly how you would expect it to be. We have all heard the story before in SAHARA and dare I say it, Into the Blue, although this movie is obviously a comedy/adventure.

As for the story's strength and the actors performances, again, it's exactly what you would expect. McConaughey, Hudson and the other supporting characters deliver more than adequate performances and Donald Sutherland is as brilliant as he can be considering the overall quality of this movie.

Last but not least, pay attention to the accents, It seems like everybody has a fake (funny fake) accent. I'm not sure why they chose to fake the accents when everybody does a terrible job, but hey.. I guess it makes the movie even more entertaining.

Definitely watchable
