Marty (1955)
Good, but incomplete
5 June 2003
Marty is a great film, but the VHS and DVD currently available have one or two minutes left out from a scene near the end: Has to do with the girl telling her parents about her date with Marty, and mother & father's discussion later. Hope MGM puts this back in someday.

China Corsair (1951)
One of Borgnine's first
3 October 2002
I saw China Corsair when it first came out in 1951. Ernest Borgnine played

a curio shopkeeper in Chinatown. Soon after this we saw him catapulted to

fame in From Here To Eternity, and eventually in Marty and others.

This is Borgnine's third feature film, according to the imdb. It has apparently never been available on video. It would be instructive to have it on VHS or

DVD, even as just a curiosity. Among other things, does he pass easily for a

Southern Chinese? From my distant childhood memory, I think so.
