In Time (2011)
I can't believe people are giving this higher than a 6
I will begin by admitting that when I entered the theater I had semi high expectations. I love science fiction and I thought the idea what charming however, after about thirty minutes I was scared I was going to be severely disappointed and after an hour these fears were confirmed.
I don't know what was worse, the acting or the script? Neither helped the other. Some of the lines were so cheesy that I couldn't help but roll my eyes. It seemed as though someone thought they were very clever with a few one-liners. Well, they were wrong.
I still think the plot is interesting but a lot more could have been done with it. The movie seemed to seriously drag on. I went for a water break and chilled in the lobby for a few minutes during the movie. I knew I wasn't going to miss anything.
It wasn't the worse movie ever made, but I would definitely wait for Netflix or RedBox on this one.
Just Go with It (2011)
Comeback for Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston!
Honestly, for the past few years I have been losing interest in both Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston movies. Both of their last few movies were total flops, in my opinion, and I went into the theater with serious doubt. However, this movie was AWESOME! If you like Sandler's older stuff then you will love this movie. He goes back to his basics with humor in this one. Sure it's totally far-fetched, but the humor makes it worth it. Also like his older movies, there were those few moments that were so sweet that made you wish you had your own "egg-head." Jennifer Aniston was awesome in this movie. She's a funny girl, but has been given bad material in the past. This was just what she needed. She was sexy, funny, and totally knew her roll. Plus, she had such great chemistry with Sandler. I can never buy the chemistry in her other movies between her and other guys, but these two seemed to really hit it off! Over-all great, funny movie.
Shallow Hal (2001)
One of my Faves...
What more could you want? Great cast, funny lines, and a movie with some real depth. It's one of those chick-flicks that is bearable for even guys because of it's humor and the fact that it doesn't get too cheesy and when it does, they don't make the scenes last forever with unbearable lines and over-the-top romance.
The cast is great. This is definitely my favorite role for Jack Black and Gwenyth Paltrow. All the supporting actors do their part and no one is hard to handle.
This movie has a good lesson to it. Unlike other chick-flicks, you come out feeling good that you just saw that film. This is just an over-all great film.
Vampires Suck (2010)
Not a Good Movie, But I Still Got Some Laughs
Of course it is immature and not worth spending an atrocious amount of money on at a big theater, but it can still give ya some laughs. It's not over the top horrible like Date Movie or anything like that and it's a heck of a lot funnier. I was unfortunately in a theater with loads of little middle-schoolers and they found the film hilarious and I felt like it was appropriate for their ages. Even I, who is 20, had a few laughs at some of the parts and was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't the worse movie I had seen or even close.
I still prefer it over the actual Twilight movies. The acting is the exact same, but at least I get a few laughs this way.
The Kids Are All Right (2010)
Excellent Acting with an "alright" story
I saw the movie last night and can honestly say I enjoyed it. I had a lot on my mind, but the engrossing acting and the interesting story kept me hooked, but it still wasn't what it could have been. Many of the characters were poorly developed and there were some minor plots that were also undeveloped. I came out of the theater realizing that if the movie hadn't had the phenomenal actors in it, it would have been nothing above mediocre, but Annette Benning, Julianne Moore, and Mark Ruffalo kept it interesting.
With all the critics raving, I was a little disappointed. It's not as funny as I expected, but still had some cute parts. It's not really a "feel-good" film either. However, the quirkiness of the film, and the acting makes it worth a watch and it's definitely still better than some of the trash out there.
