The crazy day of an old couple
7 January 2003
A couple of retired persons living in a little apartment, on the heights of Belleville, in Paris. This is a neighborhood for laborers, immigrants and small-income families, something like Brooklyn in New-York (as i can imagine it). It's summer. Their son calls them early in the morning because he wants to come for lunch with a girlfriend. The parents are very excited and start preparing everything, fetching foods etc., but everything turns wrong because the oven won't work... It's a pity that so few persons will ever see this little movie, so sensitive, so funny, so well-observed, so warm, tender and kind-hearted. It has been produced by the 2nd channel of the French National TV, and i wonder if it has actually been issued in theaters... But it appears that the movie has been distributed in the USA. Well if an opportunity to see it occurs, just take my word, see it, it's worth your 80 minutes! If you have parents, if you are parents, or even if you're in none of the two cases, you will be deeply touched by this little masterpiece, which is also a wonderful depiction of everyday life in a far-from-Eiffel-tower part of Paris, France.

Excellent vintage trash
24 July 2002
We french just love this movie, because of this "attack of monster ants" or "twilght zone" feel of old bw pictures of desertic landscapes with gloomy cars all alone in the middle, and of course because of the exciting rambuctious and desirable (yes indeed) girls with spitting-on-one's-face attitudes, the kind we hardly find in our own movies of the 60's... Definitely worth keeping!
