Elsbeth (2024– )

Officer Blanke

I've watched Columbo and he definitely wears down the bad guy, I see some of that "spark" with this series but ...The overall crimes are interesting, the storytelling I hope will improve. I watched about 6 episodes. Carrie /Elsbeth toned down the quirk in latter episodes TY. I do not appreciate the derogatory "boomer" references and it turns me off; nope not a boomer, but show some respect because writers who came before, can write circles around those today. Officer Blanke is actually my fav character, she seems the most authentic, realistic of all: young but smart and observant, open-minded, respectfully defiant and helpful. The actress is capturing that. I will give the show a few more episodes before deciding.

Read the Goofs section...

Warning: Spoilers
You will figure out 95% of the twist and the source of the info some characters need to survive about 20 min in, maybe not that long. I agree with other reviews: poor acting, major logic goofs within its own explanations let alone the "real world", silly dialogue most of the time. Disappointed because I like a good horror/suspense movie with a clever twist. I would skip it if I could go back in time.

1883 (2021–2022)

Clever writers but empty "victory"

Warning: Spoilers
I was drawn to 1883, I love Sam Elliot and have seen Tim McGraw in a few things. I like Isabel May from Young Sheldon and am up for a good western. I overlooked many issues with the story, historical/era character issues. But I was enjoying Elsa for the most part- some narration was tedious. Character development was sacrificed for random events in the plot.

My main reason for writing this is to communicate to writers et al., that I think most people watch a show for the characters and in a drama like this, you are banking on our attachment to certain characters. If you think you are clever and you fooled us...many, many things were predictable. You would have suprized me if you let Elsa live. I hope it is not your main goal to create attachment, make it seem alright and then kill off everyone pretty much, but throw-in twists that create false hope or just to spread something that is thin over 10 eps. You may be clever and tricky (debatable) but if you are, your victory is hollow because I'll avoid your productions in the future...fool me once...cheers Sheridan. P. S I watched the first eps of Yellowstone a few weeks ago, did not grab me, and Costner was not the problem.

Don't invest in these characters...

Disappointing and no idea the message it is trying to tell. I love Tommy and Hilary, but such a waste.
