3 Days to Kill (2014)
Very Entertaining Movie
It was an entertaining movie. In the beginning I was a little put off by the multi-genre flow of the movie. Was it supposed to be a serious spy thriller, an earlier James Bondish tongue-in cheek spy movie? Then I decided I would just enjoy the entertainment value of the movie. Interesting characters, interesting situations, engaging actors. My bottom line is entertainment value. I felt like it was worth paying to see this movie in a Theater. The best I have seen Kevin Costner fit into a role in a theatrical movie in awhile. His style really worked with the different flows of this movie. Liked the great views of Paris. I would say it definitely had a French style to the film.
Skyfall (2012)
Another wasted Bond Movie with a great Bond-Daniel Craig
Very disappointed. James Bond is a great franchise. Daniel Craig is a great Bond. He is so wasted in these last two Bond films. Casino Royale was great, he was great. He is a great actor, as proved in so many films. Can they not find anybody to write a screen play. Heck just have Daniel Craig, Judi Dench, Ralf Fiennes just sit and talk to each other for two hours. The entire last sequence at Skyfall was like they ran out of plot and had to end the movie. Why have Dench's M die, how stupid - she could have retired and passed the torch to a great actor Fiennes - that could have been a great scene. But no - these writers could not figure that out. Please use Craig, he displays all the Bond traits, tough, smart, humorous, can we not get him some lines?
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009)
Don't support by paying to see
Do not support this kind of dysfunctional movie making by paying to see in a theater. I love action, Scifi, cool technology, our military, attractive girls, rock and roll etc. Really enjoyed Transformers 1. Why with millions of dollars could you not take these components and make a good movie? OK this was a reasonable music video. But I had to pay and sit for 3 hours to see it. No Thanks. I hope this does not hurt my HASBRO Stock price, guilt by association. The supporting acting was horrific in some cases. The mother, the new college roommate, horrible. Understand partly screen writers fault for horrible lines. Was there a director here? I am sorry I am writing this so late, might have saved someone some tickets.
The Time Traveler's Wife (2009)
50ish, Husband, Father says Worth going to theater for
Feeling like I got my money's worth when going to a theater is part of my ratings. To me this was worth it. Good date movie for wife and I = >50, Husband, Father. Bana was part of my draw. I think Bana is a great action actor (I recommend my favorites = Black Hawk Down, Munich). To me this movie shows how a really good movie can be built, and made better, around good acting, good screen writing, good supporting actors. You don't need $millions and extreme special effects to produce a compelling movie. For the opposite of that equation see recent train-wreck Transformers II, but I appreciate that train-wreck was aimed at a completely different audience. This movie was a definite tear-jerker even for me but really enjoyed it. I am actually hoping for a sequel here to see if some of the final outcome events will be changed via time-travel.
007: Quantum of Solace (2008)
Love Craig as Bond - Unnecessary Pyrotechnics-Cheap Ending
Craig is a great Bond. But it is because of his persona, his acting and the character development with him as Bond. This movie failed because of the cheap, explosions, explosions, near misses, during the last quarter of movie. The Craig Bond Movies do not need this crap. CASINO ROYALE should be the model for this series with Craig. Use him and the characters, of course you need action and gadgets to make it a Bond. I get so tired of paying good money to see a good 75% movie. It was really cheap looking during that final fire, explosions, I could not even keep up - poor production. These 75% Movies - KNOWING - is my most recent example, it is like the whole production runs out of gas at the end. I do not know the specifics of movie production - could they create/film the ending first, when the entire production team is fresh with ideas and money to pay for special effects?
Knowing (2009)
85% Great .....Then
Compeling plot, interesting, eerie, spooky, great settings, MIT, numbers/codes, great character development..... and then the ending! It was like a flash back - The Abyss, Close Encounters, what was that Jodie Foster Flick-First Contact?...we have seen this before. REALLY disappointing. I really like Nicholas Cage, he can save any barker, but this was too good a movie for this underlying "our religion is really just based on aliens" theme, and especially with the goofy presentation at the ending. Give me a break. I am writing this to discourage people from paying good money to support and encourage this weak, incomplete movie delivery.
