One of the most gratifying movie experiences I've had
1 August 2008
I was always a fan of Epic movies. So when I went in to see 300 I thought I knew what i was in for. But was I wrong! Of all the epic movies I've seen 300 ranks at the top right with Braveheart and Kingdom of Heaven It's based on a graphic novel, but hey,its still awesome It's hard to imagine that this was made on a budget of only 64 million dollars . this is because production design is excellent As for the action, MINDBLOWING!!!! its quite gory but very satisfying to lovers of gore The performances are also good .The CGI is clearly seen in a couple of scenes though. That is probably the only negatie in this oherwise awesome piece of film. Looking forward to watchmen,Zack Snyder's next one. 10 on 10 for 300

This is a superb but highly underrated movie(go for the director's cut)
24 May 2008
Warning: Spoilers
When i saw this movie,I was totally amazed by it. I never expected Orlando Bloom to do such a good job as Balian of Ibelin. Apart from him, the other amazing performance was by Edward Norton as the leper king. The music of the film is top notch and captures the mood of each scene perfectly. The action scenes were also very good ,though a bit violent. The scene where Guy plunges a knife into a Moslem's throat is quite disturbing. The locations were also fantastic. Ridley Scott after Gladiator has directed an epic which equals, if not overtakes Gladiator. But the theatrical version isn't half as good as the Director's cut.

Very good thriller with good acting
27 March 2008
Sriram raghavan may not be India's most famous director but he has come out one of the best movies of the last 3 or 4 years.

The plot is good and the twists add to the strength of the film .

As far as music is concerned , Shankar Ehsaan and Loy have come out with good tracks and the lyrics by jaideep sahni are good.

Neil nitin mukesh gets a dream debut and makes most of his role Dharmendra is OK,not great.Vinay Pathak and Zakir hussain are very good.

All in all , a very good movie experience. its 8 on 10 for this one from Sriram Raghavan.

Saamy (2003)
6/10
Above average cop movie
27 March 2008
I saw this a couple of days ago. The plot is simple. One cop out to drive the "bad" out of a small town. He finds his dream girl in the town.He gets into a scuffle with the local leader and it threatens his life.

Vikram has done a good role as the film's lead. Trisha provides oomph value and most songs were unnecessary.

The dialogues are good and vivek has quite a few funny one liners. Warning though . This movie is strictly for Indian audiences. The song and dance and the stunt sequences may not go well with western audiences.

So its 6 on 10 for Saamy . a decent way to spend 2 and half hours on a lazy day

Bheemaa (2008)
5/10
Average action flick
1 March 2008
i expected more from this film vikram after a hiatus of almost 2 and a half years has acted in a shoddily directed film

its high on style but low on substance vikrams performance is the only good thing in the film the action scenes are done well but there's no story . it borrows from a lot of films there's a bit of nayakan thalapathy and a bit of a few other films the songs were not called for they don't make the film realistic. it was a very average experience.Songs should be cut out from any film . they are for noly the stereotype Indian audiences

so im going with 5 on 10 for Bheema a big disappointment
