Echo (2023)
It's Not Thaaaat Bad
Its a decent show. Started off good and then kind of drifted off. A couple things I didn't understand was what exactly is her new powers? I thought she can mimic whatever her Op does i.e. Taskmaster. Instead she's now some shaman or WO-Haman or whatever. I don't exactly understand what's going on
Her being deaf and using sign language wasn't an issue, in fact I thought it was kind of cool to see. But busting through doors with a prosthetic leg and again "weak men, strong woman" quota didn't jive with me.
The Native American element was cool but again how does this fit into Phase 5? She isn't someone I'm looking forward to in The Avengers so I'm left asking myself what is the point of all this?
All in all, is it better than She Hulk, MS Marvel, The Marvels and maybe Moon Knight? Yes.
Would I be interested in seeing her in future projects? It honestly wouldn't make a difference if I don't see her again in future Marvel shows or movies.
Monarch: Legacy of Monsters: The Way Out (2023)
I'm Really Trying....
Is this 'Godzilla' or "Dude, Where's my Dad?" The first couple episodes started off fine, now theyre taking character development too far. Where are the monsters?
This is turning into Cates love life and the search for dad instead of leading us to what the show is supposed to be about: Legacy of Monsters.
From the three characters searching in lit areas with flashlights, allegedly trying to stay out of sight (with flashlights in dimly lit areas) to highly trained Military not able to discern human sounds from cats, its all turning the show incompetent.
Please get back on track. We are heading into Episode 6 with only three signs of Titans. You're losing me.
The Marvels (2023)
Quantity over Quality
I believe at this point, they are fast-tracking to the meat and bones of this Phase because they know Marvel is spiraling. You can be the person that says "at least they're making money" or "stop hanging onto old fruit and accept the new world" What exactly is that? Is Kang still the alpha villain like Thanos? Are they phasing out Jonathan Majors for Loki? I have no clue where this is heading. Marvels gave me no clue about anything except for the end which WAS pretty cool to see. I mean they could've gotten away with a Groot type of series for the ending and we would've been good. When I watch marvel movies, I want to immerse myself in that world during and even after I'm done watching it. This movie felt like it was just thrown together and made me feel like they are just slapping Marvel on anything because they know it'd sell, instead of building a new universe post Thanos. Its a no for me dawg.
Cangaço Novo (2023)
I literally stumbled onto this
Awesome show from start to finish. Instead of rating each episode, I couldn't find a weak one so ill just rate it an overall 10. It had a authentic feel to it. In my honest opinion, it felt like the movie Heat. It great casting, the writing was well done. Each character had their own thing going on but it was just enough time for you to understand each one. Nothing felt rushed. Action, suspense and the writing was legit. You can easily binge all 8 episodes. No cliff hangers really just a plot that has you curious for more. Its has an authentic feel to it so If you're into heist series or movies, this is a must watch!
Mubing (2023)
Marvel Should Be Very Careful
Marvel has been dominating the Superhero genre for over a decade now with minimal competition from DC i.e. Batman movies, Justice League (Zack Snyder edition), Wonder Woman pt1 but after these is a steep drop-off as far as competition. Enter Moving. I'm happy that it is spread out in episodes instead of one movie because each episode has you wanting more. I appreciate the relatable characters that allow you to enter their shoes emotion wise, especially the mother son disagreement in ep7. I hope they keep this formula and not veer off in fear of keeping up with Marvel. Marvel has been a bully and basically release anything because they know we will eat it up. Moving has the potential to give them competition.
Twisted Metal (2023)
True Gamers will be disappointed
If you're Twisted Metal alum and think it's going to be destruction derby than you're in the wrong place. I understand character development is needed for newcomers but can we at least include what the purpose of the game is ?
There's like 4-5 car battles. Its like remaking the movie Jaws but on land. Calypso is the main protagonist in the game gets a minor role. Why do they remake movies and change the whole concept of what it's supposed to be? Why not just make a fresh movie about a person delivering packages across the country that runs into obstacles along the way and call it something else?
On a positive note, Sweet Tooth was done really well and there is a glimpse of hope on the next season including what the game is truly about.
In spite of the low review, I will give season 2 a chance but only if they attempt to stick to the concept of the game.
