9-1-1: Pay It Forward (2023)
ABC you have your work cut out for you
I'm normally not very critical of the TV i watch and honestly, i was at first perfectly content with the episode as a whole (though the fandom part of my brain had complaints but i won't dock those against the episode) but the more i thought about it, the more issues i thought of. First of all, this massive rescue was teased for WEEKS! Oh no what could possibly happen who will make it out alive and then...it's yet another quick rescue. That's not to say that each actor didn't do a phenomenal job because they did. But this whole massive problem was solved ridiculously fast and then three characters faced massive injuries and went back home basically immediately after. Bobby faces a masssive crush injury and left the hospital that night. Chimney was stabbed (AGAIN) and left the next morning. Eddie broke multiple ribs and not only was he walking around after, he didn't stay at the hospital and later appeared entirely not in pain when he called marisol (i know that was a while later but come on) and now i want to address the elephant in the room which is natalia and marisol. I want to like these girls. I really do. But kristen and the people in the writers room keep saying buck and eddie are evolving in their relationships and realizing what they need and then they keep dating the first woman they make eye contact with. It's absurd! I'm not saying they have to go the route that everyone wants them to take but at least have the decency to create chemistry instead of just any old person. This was the culmination of a season of saying buck needs to put more thought into his dating choices and needs more life experience to gain leadership skills and then he stumbled into YET ANOTHER relationship and demonstrated leadership but acted the exact same as normal so we just have to believe in our hearts that something has changed.
