Ann Jillian (1989)
Excellent!
Ann Jillian was great! This comedy was one of my favorite sit-coms in th 80's - had it not been that the NBC network having to many hit shows that year, this show would have lasted. NBC just would not let this series develop. The series went off the air with a 27 share - why today that would be a #1 show for the week! I wish the series owners would bring all episodes in DVD - I'd buy the first copy! The acting was terrific. These were professional actors who knew how to do comedy - first rate. Anyone knowing anything about Ann Jillian's career knows that she did comedy with all the legends of comedy like Bob Hope, George Burns, Danny Thomas, Red Buttons, and Milton Berle to name some of the greats she worked with. This fine actress could also sing, dance and do drama. She received 3 EMMY nominations, and won a Golden Globe Award for best actress in her "The Ann Jillian Story" which was the #1 movie of the week in the 87-88 TV season. Thanks.
The Ann Jillian Story (1988)
Great film, singing and acting!
I'm Ann Jillian's manager & husband. I must take exception with reviewer from Australia - as a co-producer of this film I can assure him that the singing by Ann Jillian was in fact her singing voice and just because I as Ann's manager was not able to land a recording contract that would have given her the singing success her voice truly deserved (as pointed out by our good Aussie friend) it should not have him thinking that was not Ann Jillian's great voice - as it surely was. The great Steve Allen loved Ann's voice so much that he produced a CD "In The Middle Of Love" with Ann singing 11 of his song compositions - to listen to it you will hear her terrific voice. The script is true, I know, I'm Ann's husband and I was there. Both Ann and I are so happy that every time this movie of hers airs it has the ability to save another womens life from breast cancer - and doing so while being inspired and well entertained. We paid for this with our privacy but it was indeed a price well spent. Ann continues to speak out against breast cancer and will not stop until there is a cure for all. Sincerely, Andy Murcia.
Alice in Wonderland (1985)
ANN JILLIAN SCORES!
Because I knew ANN JILLIAN was only 11 days out of the hospital after having a bi-latteral breast cancer surgery, her performance took on added meaning. Her "Red Queen" role was played as lively as she was in real life. She could have been the unsinkable Molly Brown with her energy. The outstanding cast of so many talented big names along with the great producer, IRWIN ALLEN and the multi-talented STEVE ALLEN (music score) all supported Ann Jillian and gave her the stage to show her stuff. I loved the fun filled songs that Steve Allen composed and the terrific musical arrangements. The duet between Carol Chaning and Ann Jillian was nothing short of historic. I could see the veteran stage performer meeting her equal in the new leading lady of Ann Jillian. Together they scored big time! We lost both Allen's Steve & Irwin, but Ann Jillian is still going strong and in love with life as ever. Thank God. Don't miss this great film in two parts.
