"Jeux d'enfants" tells us the friendship&love story of Julien and Sophie (Guillaume Canet and Marion Cotillard who are fantastic) since their childhood.
"Jeux d'enfants" tells what makes the childhood wonderful : freedom, innocence, imagination, unconditional love... Instead of facing their (terrible) problems in life, young Julien and Sophie choose to create a game and make bets that are more and more daring, crazy...and funny. They grow up and game continues. Until when?
This movie is a fantasy about escape, about the will to play, and then not being unhappy, at any cost. In the movie Julien told us that this game is his drug and this fairy tale, from its beginning to its wonderful and touching ending, is also about this dependency .
Beginning is disconcerting as only a few french movies offers such original style and effects. But it quickly became a delight. When seeing it, we often think of Tim Burton and movies like "Peter Pan" and "Mary Poppins". Actually, it is absolutely not an "only for french" movie. I hope this movie will have a great international career because it really deserves it. 8.5/10
