The Wolf of Wall Street (2013)
"Cocaine and hookers, my friend."
This is one of the craziest movies I have ever seen, but it's just so much fun!
In the first couple of minutes, you already know exactly what kind of movie this is going to be. Especially the little bit in the car if you know what I mean... From that moment on, you should just be prepared for all the genius craziness that is to come. The parties, the drugs, the sex, all taken to absurd levels.
One of the best things about this movie is the pacing. It's almost three hours long, but it never feels slow or gets boring. Every scene is filled with energy and excitement.
Also the acting was outstanding. Leonardo DiCaprio was brilliant as Jordan Belfort. This really is one of his best performances of his career in my opinion. Also, Jonah Hill as Donnie Azoff was really good. And ofcourse I enjoyed Margot Robbie very, very much. ;)
"Fairy dust. It doesn't exist. It's never landed. It is no matter. It's not on the elemental chart. It's not (f*) real."
"We're not gonna be friends."
"Sell me this pen."
It's not for everyone, but if you're willing to go along for the ride, you won't be disappointed.

Pulp Fiction (1994)
"English, (mf*), do you speak it?"
I have had this movie on my watchlist for a very, very long time. But for some reason I just never felt like watching it. Until yesterday. And boy am I happy I did.
For me, this movie feels like two movies merged together, but in a good way, as in the end everything comes together brilliantly. The mix of violence and humor is genius. I enjoy the parts where Vincent (John Travolta) and Jules (Samuel L. Jackson) are together the most. I could listen to those two talking about cheese burgers all day.
Oh, and I'm Dutch, so I enjoyed all the references to my country. But just let us enjoy our fries with mayonnaise.
The acting is great, but there is one stand-out; Samuel L. Jackson. I feel like he has never been better.
"Hamburgers! The cornerstone of any nutritious breakfast."
"This is a tasty burger!"
"And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee."
Overall, Pulp Fiction is a cinematic masterpiece that truly lives up to its hype.

Man of Steel (2013)
Better then I remembered!
Leading up to "Shazam! Fury of the Gods" I decided to rewatch the entire DCEU so far, starting with of course "Man of Steel". I had seen the movie 2 times before this rewatch, but surprisingly this time my experience was better! Third time's the charm I guess...
This movie has a couple of really cool moments, like the part where General Zod broadcasts himself to the entire world. He felt really menacing and it was actually pretty scary if you think about it. And of course Superman's first flight scene was really cool.
There are some well known problems a lot of people have with this movie, but most of them I don't really agree with, because in this movie Clark just starts out being Superman, so obviously he isn't flawless. At that point he would still have a lot of room to grow as a hero. But that's purely for this movie. The problem that I have is that in later movies he just stays the same.
So as an origin movie, this was in my opinion a really good movie. But unfortunately Henry Cavill never got used to his full potential.

Black Adam (2022)
Very action-packed film! (But duuhh, Dwayne Johnson)
Leading up to this film I had really high expectations. And overall I wouldn't say I was very dissapointed with the end-result, but it definetly could have been better.
Let's start with the story... which was OK. Just your typical superhero movie plot, but with double the ammount of action, 'cause let me tell you, this movie was like 80% fighting. And I was really surprised how brutal it was, they definetly pushed it to the limit. At one point in the movie I thought it was already getting to the end, but then things turned around and a big final battle took place.
The characters in the movie I mostely really liked. Ofcourse Black Adam himself was good. But the standout characters were the members of the Justice Society, especially Doctor Fate and Hawkman. I feel like the villain could have been done better though. He was just there and didn't really do that much.
The visuals and the cgi were great most of the time. There wasn't really anything I found particulary bad.
So all in all, I did like it and would like to see more of it.

Monster (2022)
Worth all the praise!
Being a teenager from the Netherlands, I had never heard of Jeffrey Dahmer before, but still I decided to take a look. And let me say I was not expecting this...
It puts you right into all things disturbing right from the beginning. In my opinion the first episode was already the best one. And from that first episode I already felt like I knew what Jeffrey Dahmer was all about. Evan Peter's portrayal helped alot with that, he was absolutely fantastic in this. The way he looked, the way he talked... everything made him really unsetteling. Also pretty much all the other actors were amazing!
The way everything looked it felt like you were always there yourself. And the story was told brilliantly. They worked with a lot of timejumps, which was a really good choice. It was like this: Something happens, then you go back to something in the past until you are back at where you began, which explains so much of the story.
I am usually not so much of a guy who watches shows... but this one I watched completely just in a couple of days.

Blonde (2022)
Bit of a weird movie...
Story was alright, I was able to follow it. Some moments were actually quite tense, which was a good thing. The actors were mostely alright, but sometimes I cringed a little bit about the way that Ana De Armas (who playes Marilyn Monroe) talked in this movie. I don't know if this is how the real Marilyn talked, but sometimes it felt not genuine, a bit too overdone.
One thing really different about this movie is the style choices. It changes all the time between color and black & white and the aspect ratio changes alot.
Oh, and if you want to watch this with your parents... don't do it ;)
All in all, could be better but could also be worse.
5.8/10.
The Batman (2022)
This is what Batman is meant to be.
The story is unlike anything ever seen in a superhero movie before and de cinematography is beyond beautiful.
Robert Pattinson is a perfect young Bruce Wayne in the early stages of the Batman, who is not able to balance his two personas yet as he really only is Batman in this entire movie and not so much Bruce Wayne. Also this movie focusses more on the detective side of Batman and less on the pure action, although it still contains plenty of action.
Paul Dano's Riddler is one of (if not thé) creepiest comic book movie villain(s) ever. I could name a couple of characters I really liked, but that would almost be everyone... Catwoman, Gordon, Penquin, Falcone, Alfred.
Also the score by Michael Giacchino is absolutely fantastic.
I've seen this movie five times now (three times in theaters) and every time feels like the first time. Always goosebumps.
Matt Reeves, I love you!
Absolute 10/10 perfect movie!
