Bleak movie but entertaining, nonetheless
5 August 2018
Performances were on point and the story this time around felt fresh. I would have rated it higher, but certain plot points toward the end ventures into the "far fetched" territory.

Best movie yet, but still could be better
16 November 2005
I believe that this is the best adaption yet, but it still could have been better. There were too many holes at the beginning, and the producers assumed that viewers would know some things and didn't explain them (Snape questioning Harry about the Polyjuice potion came out of nowhere). I read the book just after the first movie came out, so it's been four years...I don't remember everything. I suppose some things have to be cut out when you have a long book, but you have to compensate for that. I also missed the Dursley's in this one. I hope they bring them back for Order of the Phoenix since Dudley is involved in a major scene at the beginning. Still...a good movie...worth the wait...9/10.

Latchkey (2004)

Makes you think...
20 October 2004
I remember being told as a kid never to go door to door selling whenever I had a fundraiser for school. After watching Sean Olson's "Latchkey," a brilliant short film, I am glad that I listened to that advice. Of course, that really wasn't the issue in this film. I grew up lucky, having a parent always home when I got home from school, but Danny (played convincingly by Andrew Michaelson) was not so lucky. After being frustrated by his working mother again, Danny goes out selling candy bars, and it doesn't end well. This is one of the few films that I've seen recently that has a truly chilling end. I really hope more people see "Latchkey" because it really deserves attention. I give it 9/10.

BAD!
13 September 2003
I'm a HUGE fan of horror movies, but this was awful. You know it's gonna be a waste of time when the biggest name in the movie is the sidekick from "Boy Meets World." It had potential, but it wasted it. I didn't give up until the Ninja Inbred Pancake Boy scene. I'll give it some credit: the last scene is hilarious!

The Pitts (2003)
Give it a chance...
6 April 2003
Honestly, I didn't like the premiere, but I did see the potential for a funny show. Come on, I trust the Simpsons writers. They've been making me laugh on that show since I was seven-years-old. Best advice - lose the laugh track (incredibly annoying), and that's a real good start. Malcolm in the Middle wouldn't have gotten past the first season if it had one, but since it didn't, I've been a loyal viewer (haven't missed an episode) for four seasons. This is no "Malcolm," but it does have the potential to make me laugh every week, and that's important. It's got good writers and (so far) a good cast, so I'll give it a few tries before I give up.

So BAD it wasn't even funny...
15 June 2002
I'm a huge horror film fan, so I picked this one. Thank GOD I didn't have to pay money for this crap (I have a summer job at a video store). It lost me the second one of the character's said "Hello? We're a bunch of high school kids, and our car is broke down..." I would think that this movie should have just a little bit of creativity, but it didn't... negative 10

Give it a shot!

Ok, I was three when the first one came out, so I don't remember seeing it in 1986, but I do remember no. 2 in 1988. I've seen both of them too many times to count. Honestly, I never expected another Crocodile Dundee. I thought they had done all that they could with the idea. But, when I saw this movie, I thought wrong. Although this is not even close to being on my list of fav movies, it was worth the 4 bucks I paid to rent it. It wasn't original, but it was funny and entertaining, and that's what's important. too many people take movies like this and compare them to the movies that win Oscars. Personally, I thought this movie was more enjoyable than "Lord of the Rings," and I'm usually in to those kind of movies. 7 out of 10.

A NEW Fan!!
6 January 2002
I had never read any of the Harry Potter books before watching this movie. My mother read all four, and I always made fun of her. I said it was "child's play" (I'm 18). This was one of the most entertaining movies that I have seen in a LONG time. The last few years, there have been too many weak films that you never remember a month later. Harry Potter is one that will stick in my mind for a long time. I have now read all four books, and I'm looking forward to "Chamber of Secrets" next fall!!!
