When Calls the Heart: Tomorrow Never Knows (2024)
Another Wonderful episode
Wow, Henry and Joseph are just so good. (Minnie and Joseph too). Also, I love the way Henry looks across the street at Abigail's cafe, even in her absence, she's still an inspiration to him (and to others). His whole discourse there was just perfection. And I love his friendship with Elizabeth!
I love this new little girl, such a precious addition, and her scenes with Faith are just perfection. Storylines like this put the hope in Hope Valley!
Rosemary and Lee are just so adorable together, and I love that she keeps him on his toes. The real Coulters are back in the building! Yay!
Sidenote: please give us more of Nathan and Rosemary, maybe a special friendship? She is the daughter of a Mountie after all, and would be such a great help to him with Allie.
Lucas and Henry are great together. I really hope Henry says yes to be his right hand man. These two are awesome together...
And wow, the Nathan/Elizabeth tension is mounting. Please give us more. We just love them!
When Calls the Heart: When Stars Align (2024)
Hope Valley is BACK and better than ever.
After a short hiatus of a few seasons that we didn't recognize (8-9), our old, familiar, happy place is back! Thank you cast and crew for bringing us home!
And wow, how good it is to be home. We recognize our favorite characters again (Rosemary is back to her busy-body self, Mike is still awkward (but so cute with Mei), and Bill is back on the case!)
It's wonderful to see Lucas rise to the occasion (he was made for this!), and oh so great to see how far Henry has come (he really pulled my heartstrings this episode.)
And I just loved Nathan and Allie together, as well as the mounting tension between Nathan and Elizabeth. Wow, this was so so good!
Thank you for an excellent episode. I am so ecstatic for all that is to come!
When Calls the Heart: Long Time Running (2023)
Wonderful episode
Wow, Lindsay Sturman did her homework. She has done it all in one episode: made us laugh, made us cry, made us remember why we love this show so much. The honesty, the real to life situations, the way hope always floats to the top. This is Hope Valley, and it's just beautiful.
I have to say that I am a little dismayed by some of the negativity. Pascale Hutton and Erin Krakow gave heart-wrenching performances, were just incredible. Kevin McGarry as well, his "what do you want?" He literally tore my heart in two. Nathan was not pressuring her, but trying to encourage her to look, once again, into her heart, to find out what she truly wanted. What would make her happy? And sorry if moving out of Hope Valley, following Lucas to another city, wasn't it.
A girl can change her mind, can't she? Take a look inside and be honest about what's truly there? If the viewer doesn't like it, well, I'm sorry, but you can't force a narrative upon a fictional character, just because you, the viewer, would prefer it. This is storytelling - going on the journey of a character, living moments with them, feeling their emotion, their turmoil, their pain. But watching their choices and what happens as a result.
Although, Lucas didn't seem all that torn up about the breakup. Not 2 minutes before, he had just professed that this was his calling. Finally, he found it, has an amazing storyline, is the selfless hero, but it's not enough? Because he's not with Elizabeth? That doesn't make any sense at all. In his interview, the actor who plays Lucas said that he was very happy with his storyline this season and next. So, if the actor is happy, Lucas is just fine, I say let him shine. The actor, and Lucas, has never been better! He's truly come into himself and this role!
Because the Lucas and Elizabeth's breakup scene was one of the best of the entire season, in my opinion. Some of the actors' best work together. And the episode overall - the best in four or five seasons. So, bravo to the actors, cast, and crew, the writers, and the show runner, and producers. Can't wait for more!
When Calls the Heart: Starry Nights (2023)
Hope Valley at its very best
The writing this season was just phenomenal, as well as the acting, the direction, all the way to the top. Wow. I am just absolutely blown away. Thank you to everyone involved, cast and crew, directors, show runner, who just made this season the best season yet.
This episode had so many touching moments. And wow, that break up scene last episode was just heart-wrenching. Erin Krakow and Chris McNally just shone, in fact, I think it was the best performance I've ever seen out of Chris. He was phenomenal.
Which makes me slightly shocked to see some of the negative reviews here. He had such an incredible journey this season, was given a hero's journey, a powerful and wonderful redemptive arc, and was thrust into the light and into his destiny. He's becoming the hero he was always meant to be, and it was so beautiful. How can you complain just because he what, broke up with the main character? He himself wanted to go on to bigger and better things. Life thrust him forward, and he responded by a yes, the very definition of a hero. And seemed to be at peace about it, in his heart. Can't paths diverge, if that's the story, and your character is better off for it? I would have expected true fans to be raving about his performance and his storyline. Even Chris McNally, himself, has done nothing but rave about Lucas' story, he is very happy about it, prefers playing characters who are "savvy" and spice things up. So I don't get the negativity.
But, I for one, loved the way Elizabeth finally seemed to face a new layer of grief, and moved through it, to the truth in her heart.
And wow, that cliffhanger. Just so well done and so smart. Leaves us eager for more and excited about next season. Can't wait!
Thank you, Hope Valley, for being a wonderful place of community and love, truth, and always excitement.
The Wedding Veil Expectations (2023)
Loved this one. Great actors!
I just love the two actors in this one. They play off of each other so well, and their chemistry is off the charts. I think they are my favorite couple from this trilogy.
They are both relatable, and you just root for them the whole film! Real life problems, and we get to see how they deal with them. And I loved the part with Peter, working through losing his father, and holding onto him at the same time. Very relatable and very well done. The actor who plays Peter is really a good one!
And what I loved most of all was how this couple always worked out their little tiffs. The focus always came back to them, and their love. Their commitment to each other was kept central. They supported each other and loved each other, and that was inspiring. So, thank you for a wonderful, heart felt film that made us laugh, cry, and feel inspired.
When Calls the Heart: Smoke on the Water (2022)
Ridiculous
Why are there so few reviews now? Because nobody even cares to tell you how bad it is, anymore. And trust me, it's bad.
For anyone whose watched from day one, and seen Elizabeth's character grow, is completely disappointed now. She's reverted back to her spoiled rotten, entitled Hamilton self. She would be better off to have married Charles Kensington, in Season 2. That we could have believed, he was at least honest, and we could respect him.
But Lucas, no way. He's such a self-entitled opportunist we cannot understand for a minute why she's with him. Doesn't she remember anything she's learned over the last 8 seasons of this show? How does she not see through him? And Nathan had to bow down and be friends with him? Who are we kidding?
Avoid this ridiculous storyline and watch something else. There are so many other wonderful things on TV than to waste your time on this.
When Calls the Heart: Never Say Never (2022)
Steer clear
The steady decline of this show is quite sad. Because there are some amazing actors: Martin Cummins, Kevin McGarry, Jack Wagner, Jaeda Lily Miller. I also love the actors who play the Canfield's and the Yost's.
But, who can stand the writing? Even the Lucas' fans must be upset. Of course they are upset, but they won't be honest about it. They only come on here and rate all 10's because they don't want to be honest about how bad it's become, for fear they break up the ridiculous leading couple.
What a mistake they made with Elizabeth's choice, choosing a guy with whom she had zero chemistry, just for shock factor. But, that's where we are. And now, the show is paying the consequences: ratings and review in the toilet, and ridiculous storylines. Anyone who likes a believable story should steer clear.
When Calls the Heart: Rock, A Bye, Baby (2022)
What kind of storyline?
So spoiled brat Lucas runs away, as is his custom, and Elizabeth sends her other boyfriend, Nathan, to look for him? Are you serious?
The guy whose heart she stomped on? And Nathan even gives her his blessing to marry the guy who runs all the time?
Wow, Nathan really is the better man. I just don't know why there's never a payout for him. What happened to "The good guy wins"? Guess it doesn't work that way in Hope Valley.
And to be honest, Lucas and Elizabeth both looked like fools in this finale. Elizabeth sending Nathan to run and check on Lucas who ran off (even though she claims to not be worried but obviously is). Lucas is easy to find, but doesn't know anything about the outdoors- Nathan has to chop wood for him, tells him how to face the tent, and gives him extra food (because he didn't bring enough). And Nathan even sits to listen to Lucas drabble on about his perfect life. Ridiculous. Lucas looks and sounds like an ungrateful brat devoid of a backbone.
Then Nathan takes the lead in the fire fight, and saves the day, while Lucas rides back in to town at the very last minute, to hold the very end hose for 2 minutes. And he's the one who gets Elizabeth's appreciation? For what? Slinking away and then arriving at the 9th hour? I thought these writers would try to make us like these two characters, Elizabeth and Lucas, so we would accept their "coupling", but they are both horrible. Guess their M. O. was to make them both "deserve" each other. So we would be happy Nathan dodged that bullet?
So here's the sum total of Lucas and Elizabeth's relationship in one line: Void of chemistry, over the top PDA to convince even themselves, but nothing of depth or meaning, with Nathan the Mountie constantly saving them.
Congratulations, the writers have officially killed this show.
If you are looking for a realistic story, where the nice guy gets the girl, this ain't it. Only two spoiled brats getting their way, while they beat down the nice guy.
When Calls the Heart: Recent Memory (2022)
Beyond disappointed
Wow, Hallmark, really?
An unmarried couple has a sleep over? And lays in the floor together? No matter how "chaste" you claim it is, those two simple facts negate any claim you make at chastity. Not family friendly, and not okay if you claim to be.
The rest of the storylines are confusing, we can't follow or understand anything. What is even going on?
The Mountie and Bill were the one bright light. That gun slinging was awesome. Those two are the best actors on this show. They were great this episode and last.
And that scene at the end, when Lucas got in trouble. We didn't understand a darn thing about the story, it was so confusing. But, we understood he did something shady, which isn't surprising. Lucas has been shady since day one. Finally the truth will come out.
When Calls the Heart: The Kiss (2021)
Worst finale ever
Wow. I just don't know where to begin. We've been watching for three seasons, and this is what we get, as a conclusion?
HM, the lessons you are teaching now:
The good guy doesn't win, or come out on top, or get the girl. He just gets kicked and told that he wasn't even SEEN for three whole years?
Love is not worth fighting for. It's better to take the easy road with the guy who has the money and pays you fancy grand gestures.
Kids, don't hope for a new mom or dad, or even a blended family. This hope is ridiculous and won't have a happy ending. (The Mountie's 12 year old daughter has been discarded and not even given an explanation? She is also left broken-hearted? What channel am I watching?)
The heroine of the show can step on anyone she wants, and wipe her feet on anyone she wants, on the way to her happiness. She's the only one that matters, and hers are the only feelings we care about. REALLY?
When will Elizabeth be given a "hero's journey" and be redeemed? Because she has become so horrible now. Abigail would tell her off. And poor Jack must be turning over in his grave.
Please do yourself a favor, and steer clear of this ridiculous disaster.
When Calls the Heart: Hope Valley Days: Part 2 (2022)
Kevin Mcgarry was amazing.
Wow, Kevin Mcgarry was so good this episode. He had us on pins and needles, then nails, then sad, then touched, then laughing, then happy. His facial expressions alone take us so far. He was excellent in this episode as Mountie Nathan.
And, his chemistry with Elizabeth is still fire. Whenever he and Erin Krakow are on screen together they. Just. Sizzle. I will never understand why the writers don't get a clue and put them together. It would be epic. Instead of laughable and fake, which is what she is with Chris McNally - still ZERO chemistry. "What the heck"...that was a great way to put it, regarding that kiss in the saloon. Because it did not come across lovey-dovey or romantic, it came across as LUSTY and cringey. And I don't know what kind of rating they have as a show, but kids watch this show, and isn't she the school teacher?
I will never understand the writers reasoning on this Lucas/Elizabeth pairing. And that Elizabeth would already be taking "family" pictures together with Lucas, and they hadn't even said I love you to each other yet? It seems so forced and fake.
But I did love the rest of the photos, and that was a cute way to end the episode. Of course, I would have preferred not to have Mei in the picture with Nathan and Allie. Oh, that Allie. She's overzealous sometimes. But, perhaps Mei's interest in Nathan will give Elizabeth a wake up call. Because it's still obvious to everyone that Elizabeth belongs with Nathan.
When Calls the Heart: Past, Present, Future (2022)
Thank you for allowing my opinion
Thank you to IMDB for letting us give our opinions and share our thoughts. I appreciate not being deleted, but being able to share, even if my opinion is different from the others in this page.
In my opinion, this episode was better. It's getting there.
And, I love the suspense. Who will Elizabeth choose?
It's obvious her heart is with the Mountie, but she's running out of time. He seems to start to like Mei Su. Elizabeth better figure it out quick, before he's in love with someone else.
It's so obvious her heart is with Nathan, even though she "says" with her head she is in a courtship with Lucas. All of her deep conversations are with Nathan, so he's still her safe place, her confidant, her best friend. When will she figure it out?
Is it true that Chris McNally is leaving the show? I heard that. And it's sad because I really liked him as the bad guy. He plays shady so well.
When Calls the Heart: Hope Valley Days: Part 1 (2022)
What a joke
That Elizabeth finally noticed the plaque is one thing. But, the fact that she could equate it to anything having to do with her and Lucas was a joke. Did the writers not even watch season 6 and 7 of this show? Do they not even realize what had been previously written?
That plaque was a gift, made by Nathan's own hands. And it was meant to be a reminder for Lizzie to overcome her fears. And, it was connected to the storyline in Season 8, that she would overcome her fears of losing Nathan, and love a Mountie again. Which she didn't. She instead, took the easy way out, and the road more traveled, and picked the saloon owner.
Now, that she could equate this plaque with anything related to their story as a couple is just ridiculous. And insensitive. They said she picked Lucas for the longevity of the show, but how long can the ship float with these horrible storylines?
The storylines don't make any sense, are left dangling and unfinished. And most of what we want to see, we don't see onscreen (and it has to be explained later in interviews that only a small minority of the fanbase has access to). This ship has hit the iceberg of idiocy and is going down hard.
When Calls the Heart: Journey into the Light (2022)
Parents Beware
The best part of the episode was the shaving. I mean I guess they finally get who brings in the viewers. Too bad it's too little too late.
And the Canfields, wow, they were good. Minnie is great and handled Mr Landis so well. Wish we could have seen more of the dinner.
The race was funny, and loved Sargent's bow. So cool. And the nod to Jack. Finally someone mentions him. Just sad E mentions him with Nathan but never talks about him with her supposed boyfriend. Why does all her depth come with Nathan but she tries to act all lusty with Lucas? BTW, this show is not family friendly.
When Calls the Heart: In Like a Lion (2022)
Truth is in the ratings
Let's be honest. No show deserves so many 10/10's. Don't be fooled. It's the small band of Lucas fans trying to bring up the ratings. But the proof is in the pudding.
If you want to know the truth, look back at the ratings of this show Season 1-7. A collective and well deserved 8 to 9 stars, consistently. There were good writers, a cohesive storyline, and the show was heartwarming. And a joy to watch!
Now, do yourself a favor and look at Season 8 ratings. Consistently in the sixes, sometimes even lower (the finale got a 5 and for good reason), and that's generous!!! I'll tell you straight: it stinks. Why? Because of the new Show runner and Head writer, who is writing this show into the ground. He didn't bother to even watch the first 7 seasons of the show. So therefore, from Season 8 on, nothing he writes makes sense, every episode is full of angst and anxiety (not to mention that this is his well known undisputed style of writing - if you don't believe me look into the show Chesapeake Shores, which he was previously fired from!). Gone is all the feels and all the heart warmth. This show is now the sad shadow of its former self.
Sadly, this carried forward into Season 9, as you can see, and it's just getting worse.
It's sad for the exceptional actors who are given nothing good to work with. And the amazing crew that love working together, though probably not so much under his writing style. And, it's horrible for the faithful fans who kept watching, hoping it would get better. It hasn't.
But above all, it's sad for the legacy of the show, which has showcased so many beautiful stories and so many countless, wonderful moments over 7 seasons. Not to mention the whole host of actors who have come and gone, and poured their heart and soul into it, over so many years, and so beautifully.
Now, I find myself among of a collective chorus of tens of thousands of disappointed fans, who only wish someone would get their act together and fire these horrible writers! It's the only hope to save this show!
If you reading this, do yourself a favor: watch the first 7 seasons, enjoy them, and let the show end with the "hug heard round the world". Pretend Season 8 and 9 don't exist - they aren't worth your time anyway!
When Calls the Heart: Turn of the Page (2022)
Not family friendly
So they keep beating down the Mountie while the teacher runs around with the gambler. Is this hallmark channel? I thought it was supposed to be family friendly entertainment?

Misleading
Let's be honest. No show deserves so many 10/10's. Don't be fooled. It's the small band of TL fans trying to bring up the ratings. But the proof is in the pudding, or perhaps the star ratings????

When Calls the Heart: Straight From the Heart (2022)
Be careful
This episode had it's good moments, though all of them involved the Mountie, no doubt. Oh, and the little boy was adorable too.
But, why all the 10s ? Let me tell you: Lucas fans trying to skew ratings. No show deserves so many 10s. It's unrealistic.
If you want to know the truth, do a little research using the ratings on here. Look back at the ratings of this show Season 1 to 7. A collective and well deserved 8 to 9 stars, consistently. There were good writers, a cohesive storyline, and the show was heartwarming. And a joy to watch.

Where had all the heartwarming gone? This show is now the sad shadow of its former self. And it just keeps getting worse.

Feeling Butterflies (2022)
Great Movie!
This was a great movie, even watched with my kids. They loved the info on the butterflies, and the funny competition.
Also, the interactions between the female lead and the daughter were cute. Also, the interaction had depth when they talked about her late mother. Lots of cute lessons here.
The chemistry and love story was believable. And, I loved the way the guy was confused as to what to do. Sometimes life can be like that.
Thank you for a real story
Loved it!
