Family Guy: Mister Act (2022)
A bit weird, still funny
The weirdness and absurdity of this episode is what made it funny. Lois becomes ripped after biking on her new stationary bike, and Stewie becomes VERY interested in her and wants to seduce her. Peter tries biking and hurts himself in a way that raises his voice, making him a perfect choir boy for the church. He has to fight off other church boys (not the priest, as I would have expected).
Family Guy: Christmas Crime (2021)
Just ok
This was a just ok episode - nothing too bad, but not phenomenal either (especially after the previous episode, which I enjoyed quite a bit). Brian, who views Christmas as overhyped and over-commercialized, has to face the consequences of drinking and driving (not the first time he's done that!) and destroying something "meaningful" to the town. By the end, his views on the holidays have changed. Some of the cutaways were funny and well done, especially the McGruff one. The Chinese panda toy was hilarious!
Family Guy: The Fatman Always Rings Twice (2021)
Really liked it!
Probably my favorite episode of the season so far! In this all-black-and-white episode, Peter is a post World War 1 detective/private investigator who looks into the disappearance of a nun (Meg). I liked the names used for the characters, some of the jokes were quite funny (like all the priest ones and the one about Pearl Harbor). The end had an interesting twist to it that I did not see coming.
Family Guy: The Birthday Bootlegger (2021)
Pretty funny
Pretty funny, in my mind! The Stewie plot was quite absurd (he turns into a hardened "criminal" after spending a day in detention), which had a touch of Shawshank Redemption to it. It's nice to see Peter and his love for celebrating office birthdays (that's fun, right?). Not sure why there is yet another new boss at the brewery. Cutaways were good, overall.
Family Guy: Peterschmidt Manor (2021)
Pretty entertaining
As always, Peter is just so ridiculous with everything he does, and it's quite entertaining. I like how the main plot where Peter turns Carter's mansion into a hotel focused on secondary and tertiary characters like Doctor Hartman, Principal Shepherd, and the librarian. The Lois and Carter subplot was an interesting glimpse into their relationship and their past. Some of the cutaways were funny, but the Kevin Spacey one was...bold. Wow.
Family Guy: Cootie & The Blowhard (2021)
Somewhat amusing
This episode didn't have any particularly outstanding moments but it also wasn't bad. But it was amusing to watch. I liked the ridiculousness of the Stewie plot line. Peter and Bonnie was an unusual pairing but the premise of their subplot was also amusingly absurd. The cutaways were pretty funny overall.
Family Guy: Brief Encounter (2021)
Not awful but not great
There seems to be more of a focus on Stewie and Doug this season (where Doug is the darker, more twisted between the two), instead of the usual Stewie and Brian friendship. It happened again this episode, and their story was so-so, a bit weird. The other main storyline involving Peter and Quagmire was also a bit weird, but funny at times. Not as funny as I was expecting when I read the summary of the episode. Very few cutaways, if any. This wasn't a particularly bad episode, just nothing memorable.
Family Guy: 80's Guy (2021)
Plenty of good moments
I enjoyed the Stewie and Doug story! It was a bit unusual from the Stewie/Brian (who really didn't have much of a presence this episode) partnership, but it was refreshing and, at times, pleasantly absurd. The Peter-and-the-80s subplot had a few funny moments, but I can't relate to anything 80s so I'm sure I missed some references.
Family Guy: Must Love Dogs (2021)
Pretty funny
I actually enjoyed this episode quite a bit! The Quagmire/Brian plot was funny, and it was amusing to see the dynamic between the two switch from what it usually is. A lot of jokes landed well (plane-related pun intended). The Stewie subplot was a bit predictable but not bad!
Family Guy: LASIK Instinct (2021)
So-so
The Lois/Meg plot wasn't too bad, while the Peter/Chris/Stewie/Brian subplot was so so. There were a few funny jokes, but overall not the strongest season premier. Still happy FG is back!
Family Guy: Rock Hard (2021)
Eh....
Generally, I like the episodes where Family Guy takes another plot or someone's story and makes it its own (I don't expect every episode to be original). However, I don't know anything about the individuals whose lives were being reenacted (it's not my kind of music), so any jokes there may have been flew over my head.
No Time to Die (2021)
Daniel Craig goes out in a bang!
I'll start by saying that I really like Daniel Craig as 007, and the Bond movies he was in were, overall, pretty good! This movie was a great one for Craig to end on, and he will be missed.
The beginning of the movie was a bit unusual, since it did not start immediately with Bond on a mission. In fact, it didn't feel like a Bond movie at all initially. Instead, the focus was on another central character's past (and the movie ends by focusing on this same characters future) - which I found to be interesting and refreshing.
The focus eventually turns to Bond and what we all expect and love: the explosions, gun fights, chases, and specialty vehicles.
As with most of the Craig movies, the opening credits were creative and foreshadowing. I wasn't really a fan of the Billie Eilish song (generally, I don't like her music). It got better towards the end, but it was nowhere as good as the Skyfall song.
The attack/heist after the opening credits was pretty cool and sets in motion the main villain's evil plan, which I found to be a bit absurd (like in many Bond movies), yet arguably quite relevant.
Throughout the movie, we get to see many familiar faces and get introduced to a few new characters. I really liked Ana de Armas' character and hope she will become a regular. I enjoyed the back-and-forth between Bond and the new 007 (who eventually gave back the title), and Craig's signature dry sarcasm made me chuckle a handful of times.
The movie contains a pretty big reveal about half-way-ish, which I don't want to spoil, but which, in my opinion, changed the movie and what it's message was.
I am not sure where I would rank this movie out of the 5, overall, but I thought the end of the movie was very touching and powerful. I wasn't really expecting it to end the way it did (or, at least, I was hoping it wouldn't end that way), but it wraps up the Craig era well.
Free Guy (2021)
Best 2021 movie (so far!)
This creative movie combines action, humor, and romance into a genuinely fun cinematic experience! My girlfriend and I both loved it and came out of the theater (when we first watched it during its premiere weekend) with smiles on our faces. We have now watched it 3 times. The premise is interesting and engaging, the CGI is awesome, the lead and supporting characters did a great job, and several famous individuals make appearances (which were fun to spot). Plus, I noticed several Tesla Model S vehicles at the end of the movie. As a Tesla fan, it was pleasant to see those carmeos (bad pun intended). I have been recommending it to friends, family, and coworkers, and will keep doing so.
