Star (2024)
Kavin's Performance . Good for OTT
Star... it's all about the star named Kavin , what a brilliant actor he is , good found for Tamil movie . If not for him this movie would have been more boring . The movie is all about a long struggle a person undergoes to get into movie industry and most of it sounds true . The movie had one more star which made the crowd go excited was none but Yuvan, he sticks to his unique styling of doing music. While most of it sounds heard before types still it was high on energy and gelled well with the storyline . His music definitely sounds different from Arr, Ani and many... direct Dil Ke...The storyline is simple and has shades of many other movies, and to mention again it's Yuvan's music that gave more life to the scenes . The Ghazal song was a bumper . Class. Talking about the cast , they were definitely beautiful , beyond Kavin , Lal made a classic lifetime performance alongside Geetha Kailasam who comes in as Kavin's mom . Most of the times she put up a very realistic performance but at times overdid it too. Preity Mukhundan was seriously charming and putting up all possible cuteness to her character and performance . Impressive . The movie was definitely missing her in the second half and that's when Aditi Sudhir came up with her rocksolid performance ensuring to make people forget the past (Preity 🙂). The movie had lots of references to other super hit movies including the famous song from Pudhupettai which suited more to this Star than the original . Many such things ensured fun and Star movie was all about performances and super entertaining first half , and it happened . The interval block , then the movie went bizarre and it was seriously dragging and at times depressing which was unexpected . Sure , that's where the viewers would have lost interest and started a desperate wait for it to end . Director Elan still tried hard to get the movie on the track with few promising scenes , still couldn't save the drag . Editing and Trimming of the movie length was much desired there . If it had happened , sure Star would have been a Super-Star. Missed. Good for OTT. Overall Star, Dimming.
Aavesham (2024)
Aavesham - 'FA'wesome
"Aavesham, aptly named for FaFa's latest film, delivers nothing short of pure exhilaration for every one of his fans. The thrill begins from the opening scene and only subsides as the credits roll, although there were moments of slight decline after the interval. Nevertheless, the first half is a testament to the exceptional experiences only Malayalam cinema can provide." Truly speaking no words can describe the performance of Fahad, must be witnessed in a packed cinema hall where the crowd erupts in awe at his every appearance . The sleek smart look , nuanced actions and emotions, and his impeccable dialogue delivery, these would justify the very reason to trend this movie high time . The movie relies heavily on its screenplay and Fahad Fazil, following the trend of many other Malayalam films by not featuring a conventional leading lady . BGM added so much strength to the content and so did the action sequences and comedic elements . While not vulgar or brutal, this movie may not interest the little ones. Second half , the movie began to feel extended and lacked substance although Fahad continued to entertain admirably. The three other actors portraying students, along with Mansoor Ali Khan, delivered their best performances, providing strong support to Fahad. So was the rest of the ones in the movie . When the content takes the lead there is no necessity for a female lead and these movies prove that as well . It's a performance treat for his 'Fa'ns. Overall Aavesham, 'FA'wesome !
Mission: Chapter 1 (2024)
Mission Impeccable
Chapter 1 of "Mission," one of the two Pongal releases I eagerly anticipated, the other 1 being "Merry Christmas." Arun Vijay consistently selects compelling films, living up to the expectations of his audience. This full-length action movie showcases his dedication to maintaining a robust physique, fitting seamlessly into his role. Director Vijay, known for choosing international location, keeps us engrossed throughout. The plot, though not entirely novel, surprises with well-scripted scenes. Unique attempts are evident, especially in the action sequences. The initial part feels lacking, sounding like a foreign movie dubbed in Tamil, with the BGM disappointing initially but improving later. Surprisingly, the score is by GV Prakash. With minimal songs, which suits the genre, Amy Jackson somewhat fits the role but lacks the cop's physique and attitude. Nimisha Sajayan's role from Mollywood lacks impact, while Abi Hassan fits well. The young actress Iyal delivers a commendable performance, along with the rest of the cast. The screenplay maintains a fast pace, though the film could benefit from some trimming for a crisper experience - still, it's worth watching than the rest.
Captain Miller (2024)
Captain Miller, (I) Retired Hurt
On the very first day, Captain Miller happens, and my sole reason to watch is Mr. D. Despite being a relatively unknown director with just a couple of movies to his name, Arun Matheshwaran is fortunate enough to direct one of India's most seasoned actor. While the technical crew isn't familiar to me, they seem to have done their jobs well. The female lead, Priyanka Mohan, can now be proud of being part of Mr. D's movie, even with limited scenes alongside him. Shiv Rajkumar's presence could be a favor to Mr. D, but Arun fails to bring out the best in him. The stunts are well-performed but often excessive, with an abundance of gunshots and bombings. The worst part is Dhanush miraculously avoiding getting hit when faced with 700 odd soldiers. Several illogical scenes adds to the disappointment. Special mention to GV Prakash for an outstanding BGM, enhancing the cinematic experience. Aside from the impressive BGM, nothing else stands out, and none of the songs stays in mind. This movie relies solely on Dhanush, and it's far from his best. Watching it, even on OTT, is a challenge without fast forwarding, and there's an IMAX version in theatres 😂.
Hanu Man (2024)
Hanu Man, Go(o)d Man
Hanu-Man starts off with a captivating opening scene, leaving the audience uncertain of how to react. The character background unfolds, creating anticipation that intensifies as the movie progresses. The title card finally appears after 30 minutes into the movie. Teja Sajja as Hanu-Man, along with Amritha Aiyer, Varalaxmi, Vinay, and Vennela Kishore, collaborates to deliver a superhero film comparable to recent Indian movies, featuring impressive VFX and a decent storyline. The VFX enhances the movie experience . Teja and Amritha shine with their looks and acting skills, while Vinay excels as the formidable antagonist. The BGM and cinematography contribute to the vibrant atmosphere. The plot gains momentum in the second half, despite lacking freshness. The climax proves intriguing, compensating for the initial mess. Few goosebump moments were packaged well as well. Director Prashanth Varma deserves credit for attempting a film that balances VFX and concept. While I have seen it in Tamil, viewing it in the original Telugu language is recommended for a better experience due to subpar dubbing. The stunts provide enjoyable moments, ensuring that Hanu-Man joins the ranks of Spiderman and Superman to a little extent in entertaining younger audiences.
Kadaisi Vivasayi (2021)
Soulful movie
Finally got to see the award winning movie "Kadaisi Vivasayi ", Huge respect to the director Manikandan for showcasing this lively experience of a farmer's life and the strong emotional connect he could weave between the viewers and the storyline. Rather the present, this movie is for the future Gen for them to understand what it takes to get rice from farm to kitchen . It's a hard hitting fact that these cannot be produced in a factory but only from a farm bed . Everyone of US have criminally contributed for the reduction of farm land by converting them to factory to housing units to multiplexes , to concrete jungles , sure life would have been much better and less stressful than it is now if we had saved those farmers and their land and as well donned a role of a farmer in some way or other. Wish some decisions taken in life in past could have been undone . In total agreement to this statement "The soul of India lives in its villages". The performances of the characters are so very realistic and sure most of them are probably the villagers themselves than actors . I couldn't actually see it as a scripted one and the flow just happens . Thanks to the late Nallandi for his impactful presence in the movie . Sure both Yogibabu , Vijay Sethupathi probably accepted those meagre but meaningful role just to contribute their share to this beautiful movie , that way probably many of them . Cinematography at its best , frames of nature all through . A peaceful watch with no noisy BGM and useless songs . Sure the entire movie crew must have been proud for their presence . Overall , Kadaisi Vivasayi, (KadaVulin Uruvai (God's Form) ) . Soulful. #kadaisivivasi #myview #sonyliv #besttamilfilm #national-award.
Maamannan (2023)
Mahanadigan
MAAMANNAN , one of its kind and all credits goes to the most adorable actor "Kalaimamani Kumaravadivel Natarajan" aka "Vadivelu", if not for him this is a movie to be dumped. Mariselvaraj like that of Pa Ranjith has that fascination for triggering so much disturbances in people's mind in the name of Caste . Agree to the fact , that caste based issues are still there in rural areas but need not be told in every movie, for it's not going to solve the issue but only to trigger more . I should say that initial scenes of this movie has lot of disturbing visuals, hate Mari for this and sorry those cannot be considered realistic, it's rather Brutal, But there comes a huge saviour by the name Vadivelu, who gets the character deep to his skin and ensures every frame he pops up it becomes a goosebump moment for us. It has taken him 31 years to deliver such a brilliant role after being Isakki in Devar Magan , it just tells us that he's been under-utilised for 3 decades and more . I could see him in par with top actors these days when it comes to acting. And there's Fahad who is a very very natural actor doing his role so very competitively, a true treasure for the Indian Movies . For a change , the usual emotions of Udhayanthi Stalin best suited for this character and felt he's bettering off these days . Keerthi Suresh is fine for the role and there are many more including Lal filling up frames . BGM by ARR is not upto his usual standards , while there are places where it elevates the movie experience, there were quite a lot of other scenes where it could have been lot better . Nenjamae Nenjamae by Shaktisree Gopalan is just WoW😍. Couple of other songs are good and few didn't get in sync with visuals . Stunts are fine but again too much heart wrenching visuals . We sat the entire movie just for Vadivelu hence we couldn't ignore the movie . Interval block not to be missed. Enjoyed few of the dialogues. Mariselvaraj sir , try not to Cast Caste as part of your movies. Sure this movie could have been beautiful without CAST(E)ing it, still a must watch for the Wonder-Cast Vadivelu. Not a kids friendly movie . Overall MAAMANNAN, MAHANADIGAN !
Sita Ramam (2022)
Miles of Reels ....
Sita Ramam, this Tollywood dubbed movie competes the length of Ramayan that used to get aired in Doordarshan decades ago . The movie goes on like a Duracell battery, on and on and on and by the time it was nearing end , a slight feel of uneasiness arises if there would be a sequel to this movie , thankfully the possibility faded away completely by last scene giving us some good breathing moment . Dulquer from Mollywood and Mrunal from Bollywood comes together to make a movie in Tollywood . The storyline was actually good and sure a movie content , however the director failed to notice the bubble gum effect and let the movie stretch for miles together, particularly the first half . Public comment was the movie had shades of Veer Zara, though I don't remember seeing that one in the past . The lead actors including Rashmika Mandana given the experience in this industry didn't fail to strike a good performance. Music just didn't get registered in mind . Cinematography was good and the screen was pleasant and colorful in many reels . First half was complete chaos and second half was much better and did end well resting everyone's mind in peace . People in UAE in a way would be happy that this movie is banned over there . One (long)time watch and cannot really recommend a theatre watch needing long sitting . Fitness watches would have definitely had a frozen screen image saying "really a high time to stand and move on". Overall , Sita Ramam, Miles of reels to go before we sleep.
19 1 a (2022)
Time to stay away
19 1 a - Another Malayalam movie to end the Friday over an OTT . Rather VJS it was Nithya Menon who was present all over the movie . Well toned up physic gets back NM's look back to cute old times . She is definitely one beautiful heroines in recent days . VJS appears for a short time and we just have only Nithya Menon to be spoken about . The location and the weather during which the movie was shot was very interesting . A calm and pleasant village it was . Beyond this I really did not understand the message the director had tried to convey through this movie . The movie runs at a very slow pace with some repeated scenes and locations seeding more thoughts in our mind about where actually the story is leading to . Only to realise it ended pretty abruptly . Article 19(1)(a) is actually about freedom of speech and expression and I hereby express that this movie is not worth to be suggested for . Overall , "19 1 a" time to Stay Order (stay away) .
Deja Vu (2022)
Good movie happened again
Déjàvu , despite hearing to so much of mixed reviews , went ahead watching this thriller lead by Arulnithi , Madhoo and Achyuth Kumar . Truly speaking the movie was quite enjoyable inspite of few screenplay flaws . Arulnithi is probably the best fit for this kind of role and shows all signs of matured level of acting understanding the need of the director . More miles to go for him to get even closer to the top row heroes though . But way too better in performance when compared to his coUSin. The Chinna Chinna Aasai Roja girl Madhoo looks a bit aged here and gives an average performance. As a cop, the body language could have been better, good that it didn't tamper the movie experience . Achyuth kumar does a very good job and ensures his share of contribution really proves worthy to the movie . Kaali Venkat is seen more often these days in prominent roles and really does everything to make his role notable with his acting . Nothing to specifically mention about music , cinematography etc . All filled as required . It was a good attempt on probably a unique story line and the plot handled, was majorly interesting. Director though messed a bit towards end making things go little haywire . Still can be excused and to proceed with the movie . Overall Déjàvu, a good movie happened again ! .
Gargi (2022)
Stupendous
Gargi is all about Sai Pallavi's performance in a movie based on a real incident happened few years back . This is my second SP movie for this week and both of them had great opportunities for SP to elevate her performance and to prove that she's here to rule the movie world . The earlier one being Viratta Parvam . In Gargi she has a very strong Screen Presence and a solid storyline to give the best of her career. Her performance also mattered a lot with the kind of brilliant support coming in from actors like Kaali Venkat who equally grabbed everyone's attention with his composed acting . Music by Govind Vasanth was undoubtedly a Soulful one. A movie with a simple storyline and limited dialogues gets so powerful and interesting with the music by GV. The screenplay and direction was as strong as the court case handled in the movie . The dialogues were neat and so was the cinematography. Like any other movie there were few misses here as well but Gargi just ensured complete focus on the goal ahead . Gautham Ramachandran had earlier directed a movie by name Richie and now Gargi . It's probably a pure coincidence that both his name and his movie name starts with letter G and R . Overall Gargi, Stupendous Performance (SP)
Rocketry: The Nambi Effect (2022)
Rocketry- A mission to Oscars
R Madhavan aka Rocketry Madhavan , what a great movie to Debut with, as a Director . The movie is on Mr. Nambi Narayanan , an ISRO scientist who underwent so much of physical and mental trauma after getting framed of being a spy and arrested by Indian govt only to be later released confirming he's guilt free . Nambi is one successful scientist who had worked along with Dr Kalam sir in 1990s . It was a pleasure to know about this actual SuperStar born on 12th Dec who aimed for stars from our mother land . A movie made on him is now nothing less than an Absolute Sensation, this might not be even the apt word to mention the class of the movie , it's beyond words , may be beyond the blue sky , the stars , the galaxies possible beyond several planets . Gone are those days when I used to think Biopic's are the easiest to make , but this movie proved it wrong . So much hardwork put in by the entire crew. But for once we should agree it's definitely a Rocket Science, for few of the conversations with reference to it was a bit of challenge to understand :) still it's very minimal and ignorable . R Madhavan, one of the finest actor we have in the world cinema features as Nambi and does an extremely brilliant performance and adding to it beyond acting through this movie he also proves himself as a man with great visionary working from the seats of a director. Paired with him is Simran, she's one impeccable actress who can steal everyone's heart anyday by appearing onscreen even if it happened for a millisecond . Beyond these two there are definitely more stars to mention for their remarkable performances. Surya adds some attraction in a cameo role. The screenplay was almost flawless, the BGM, the CGI and the re-recording needs a special mention here. Dialogues in Tamil was top notch , extremely enjoyable . However the director could have avoided making the foreign nationals speak in Tamil which sounded more like the language spoken Shim Chan cartoons :). Again ignore and start your countdown to fly towards the movie hall to witness this Indian wonder. Overall Rocketry, a Mission to Oscars ! .
Suzhal - The Vortex (2022)
Suzhal - Worth the twists ...
Suzhal , Lots of twists and turns, shockers and surprises ... brilliantly handled series . Cinematography at its best . BGM enhanced the view . I loved it in par with a Money Heist and Family Man . This was more thrilling and provoked the thirst to keep watching more and more episodes and to keep guessing the culprit until the last episode and finally ended up Binge watching all 8 episodes overnight to know that one person . One of the best watch . Pushkar & Gayathri rocked . DONT MISS IT .
Vikram (2022)
Loki's "Master"piece
Vikram .. (review) Aarambikalama... if it's Petta for Karthik SubbaRAJ, it would be Vikram for Lokesh KanagaRAJ. Magical reels by the fanboys of the stars. The movie Vikram is like that of a Sirius Star (brightest star in night sky) in the world of movies not just for LK but also for Kamalhassan who at this age still continues to prove he's the best of all . The story is so very detailed that slowly we get immersed into the movie and start travelling along with the stars not wanting for an end any sooner . LK with this solid storyline ensures almost a flawless screenplay making every scene interesting and not to be missed. It's definitely a great success for LK to get a star like Kamalhassan to adapt to the need and rather not to tamper the story to adapt to the star value . And big big thanks to aandavar to listen to the needs of the director and delivering the best . He is the biggest actor , he is the biggest producer and this is the biggest national movie (KGF - Kamal's Grand Film) . And yes beyond Kamalhassan , we have some relatively bigger names like the seasoned actor Vijay Sethupathi, the very natural and a brilliant actor of all times Fahad Faasil , the man with Bass voice Arjun Das , Kalidas Jayaram , Naren, Shivani , Gayathri , Chemban Vinod Jose, Santhanabarathi and Surya towards the end of movie predominantly aimed for the next part. Agent Tina by Vasanthi is awesomatic and a total surprise. The movie was like a World of War, something we would have seen in Hollywood with so much of arms and ammunitions lighting up the movie screen and Anirudh blasting the speakers with his amazing BGM and Title / Pathala song. He is like this small sized bomb by look but when ignited delivers a thunderous output . The in-depth study on the props and sets put up by the art directors needs a mention here . Very realistic . Hard punches by stunt master Anbarivu Is bloodysome. Lokesh is like Poda Andha Aandavarae Namba Pakkam .
Top Gun: Maverick (2022)
Top Gun - Fully Reloaded
It's Saturday night and its Tom Cruise times. A smartest looking hero who would hit 60 this year just before US Independence is out here flying all over the SKYreen Cruising on Top in his most stylish and energetic look . The expectations on TOP GUN was way too high considering it to be a sequel for the one that got released 36 years ago. The plot is quite understandable and easily guessable. Unlike many other sequels this sequel doesn't mandate any one to see the first part. For me the movie looked so much straight fwd and ended too soon . TOP GUN is definitely a Grandeur and a must see in IMAX for all the visuals with some great re-recording. The VFX and screenplay was TOP NOTCH and was quite exhilarating. The style and the class of Tommy's acting just didn't drop a bit . It takes very little effort for Tom Cruise to handle jet flights since he's been flying in real for quite a while now with real pilot licence . Val Kilmer , Jeniffer Connelly and many others extend their best performance to make this movie quite enjoyable .
Jana Gana Mana (2022)
A Notable Anthem
Freedom for me would always be the movie times and when its time with Malayalam Movies it's something more . That's the case with the movie Jana Gana Mana, this movie has lots of areas to feel cherished , delighted , mesmerised, excited , wowed , thrilled and what not . Like that of our National Anthem this too has lot of ph(ra)ses running for a good length triggering some goosebumps moments, entertaining the movie goers through out and ends with a good note . The choice of storyline, the screenplay by the director and writer is to be well appreciated. The Malayalam movie industry is marching with their heads up miles ahead of many others. JGM has some of the finest performances by Mamta Mohandas , Suraj , Prithviraj, Shari, Vincy and many more . Thanks to them that the movie turned to be so realistic and delightful. It's a KLassy one like many others from the state of KL . Mamta is super pretty acting awesome , Suraj is brilliant and Prithivi rocks. The editor Sreejith needs a mention here for making this a racy political thriller. BGM did enrich the movie to greater levels. On the story , While we conclude that we have cracked the movie , the director delivers a spin with some good twists and turns and gets us out of our assumptions . Living upto the name of the movie, this has got lot of dialogues in Tamil and Kannada as well and the movie is released in other Indian languages as well . The length and inclusion of some contents could have been handled better , close to 3 hrs is little taxing . Overall, Jana Gana Mana, a Notable Anthem .
K.G.F: Chapter 2 (2022)
KGF - King of Great Films
KGF2 - One should accept that if there could be a movie which can have a mass opening in par with a Bahubali, a RRR and many other it can only be KGF2. Flabbergasted by the kind of reception this movie had from the very beginning title card . It was indeed Larger than life. It took me 3.5 years to watch KGF 1 and that was a huge miss but this time I ensured not to make the same mistake and I did KGF2 in about 48hrs of release and I feel superbly happy . I repeat , the directors vision, control on the story and the screenplay, everything was at its best . Ravi Basrur, never heard before KGF and can never forget post either, brilliant music may it be songs or BGM. His contribution brought in so much life to the movie . Bhuvan Gowdaf for excellent cinematography, it was a different and amazing world altogether. And there was this whole load of actors including Sanjay Dutt, Raveena , Prakashraj, Srinidhi , Easwari Rao weaving this wonderful movie with a solid needle called Yash . Undoubtedly he pulls out his life's finest performance here and without missing even a inch he perfectly fits to the character . He's Super Smart and Sema Fit . I bet , none but him could have done this role any better . Salam Rocky Bhai. This is not just a movie but an experience. Loved every bit of it . Huge respect to director Prashanth Neel , words can't just say the kind of work he has put in . Class apart . I would say, The real BEAST of this season is ROCKY. Overall KGF, King of Great Films.
Note : Dont miss the scenes post credits at end of movie.
Beast (2022)
Beast , a stylish warrior
The long wait for all Vijay Fans comes to an end as all roads lead to the movie hall at 4:00 hrs with Sun (Pictures) raising in the(B)EAST. It's definitely a treat to watch the most energetic 47yrs young and smart Vijay on big screen dancing greatly to the tunes of Anirudh directed by Nelson . Every move of him mattered a lot for the movie for that's the only thing that made the movie lively . And it could have turned otherwise without him for sure . The screenplay and direction by Nelson well shows up his inexperiences in handling bigger stars . Agree to the fact that he would have been under a lot of pressure to score a brownie point by giving a mass hit . If this movie runs well , whole credit goes to only IllayaThalapathy, he's super fit and smart . Anirudh's Kuthu with Arabic Kuthu ignited so much energy and Jolly o Ghymkhana added more colors to the screen with both these songs have some awesome choreography by Jani Master. Vijay undoubtedly proves it to be one of the best dancer . Halemathi continues to be super fun . Flipside found the BGM to be little noisy though , could have been better . Infact the noise levels in the entire movie was inching closer to unbearable , with more contribution by actor like Shaji donning a minister role , Little irritating he was . Too many people talking too many dialogues unendingly. Cinematography needs a mention for sure . Comedy track manned by Yogibabu , VTV Ganesh , Kingsley , Sunil Reddy was enjoyable in some parts , other portion could have been brought down by better editing . It takes a while to adapt to the acting of SelvaRaghavan , still a good attempt . Pooja Hegde fulfills the need of a pair to the star . She's good both in looks and act. On the storyline , nothing wow about it . Same old story of handling International Terrorists just like that makes them look like a bunch of Jokers . Vijay alone succeeding so many goes little unjustified . However those action sequence and scenes where Vijay handles the Guns is simple enjoyable . Stylish Star. There were many logical flaws needing us to just ignore and move . One thing Nelson should have handled better is the scene when the movie name pops up initially . The name Beast and the situation just didn't sync well. This Beast might not be the Best still somewhere closer to it . Overall the Beast, a Stylish Warrior .
RRR (Rise Roar Revolt) (2022)
Rumbles, Rises and Roars
It was a race mixed with luck in booking tickets for this movie in PVR/SPI cinemas for the first day shows. Everyone by default walks inside movie hall with the mindset of movie to be Stupendous and that's the power and success of Rajamouli . RM never misses to ensure seeding that BIG PICTURE thought in everyone's mind even before his movie release . He has a clear and flawless plan on how to target and spend producers every single penny and return them with huge profits. Back to the movie , only our expectations were sky high but not Rajamouli's . Be it the screenplay, storyline or the visuals everything were pretty ordinary and sometimes overkill. CGI in many places especially in the first half were so unreal and not in par with Baahubali . In particular to the animals recreated through CGI. The performance of both RamCharan and Jr. NTR were remarkable and they were the biggest strength of the movie . Agreed that they are muscled but can't agree that they can fight against 1000s single handedly and come alive . Too much overdoing in many of the scenes including stunts that were beyond exaggeration . .The first half of the movie was full of unbelievable things and probably RM thought we would accept anything and everything when it's from him . That way it's time for him to do away with such thoughts . Naatu Naatu song was completely power packed and good choice of actors to play as English . Olivia as Jenny performed so well and same is the case with the actors as Scott and Mrs Scott. The second half of the movie was terrific and definitely on fire. Hardly any stupid CGI, excellent work by Art directors . The stunt scenes were really enjoyable and the pace of the second part was making us forget the flaws in the first half . Short and sweet contribution by Ajay Devgan , Shriya Saran, Aaliyah Bhatt, Samuthrakani and many more . Great 3D work in some of the scenes , must note . The music and BGM by Keeravani reminded lot on Bahubali . That way even certain scenes and instances in the movie were having lots of shade of Baahubali . May be Rajamouli was running short of creativity. Another couple of movies this way , he might get lost in the crowd. The hype was directly proportional to the cost of the movie . RRR is a mix of bad and good like that of my review. It is more of a fantasy than reality with a must watch second half. Overall RRR the movie Rumbles, Rises and Roars !
Hridayam (2022)
Hridayam - Lovely HeART
No wonder the movie is named Hridayam, this one directly deals with your heart and memories . Reminds us about lot of blissful moments we would have either experienced or witnessed in our lives . Like the beats for the heart , the music is for this movie . The soulful music makes the movie experience an awesome one . The length of the movie is definitely a cause of concern and would have been more crisp and dramatic with some more concentration on editing aspect . Back to the story and cast , Pranav Mohanlal does his best and ensures his portion interesting to watch . With continuously appearing in quite a handful movies , kalyani Priyadarshan has that smiling face and eyes to remember for long . She's all loaded with lots of energy and acting skills . No wonder movies are in her genes . And here comes my new favourite Darshana Rajendran , you beauty . Thanks to the director for bringing a song in her name which is always on a repeat mode on my amazon . Darshana is all about emotions and expressions , her eyes n smiles does those brilliantly . If not for her and that name probably the movie wouldn't have had so much positivity and beauty . Worth watching the movie just for her . And then comes the real heart of this Hridayam , the music . The movie didn't lack a bit of music or songs , it was plentiful and greatly done by Hesham Abdul Wahab. The storyline is simple and common but definitely relatable by most of us to some part of our life . I repeat , Malayalam movie makers are from different planet all together only they can make simple ones looks grandeur . Thanks to Director Vineeth Sreenivasan for such a gem of a movie . This movie needs to be watched in theatres or in bigger screens with good sound output to indulge more . Getting out of Darshana mode is going to be tougher. Overall , this Hridayam is sure to win many hearts .
Sarpatta Parambarai (2021)
OTT Champions
SarPetta Parambarai, for a change Ranjith didn't bring in any controversial subject involving a caste or community that's in existence to my knowledge. I would say this is one of best creations of PA Ranjith . The new dad Arya has done a great job , put in lot of work to look so muscled and responsibly well acted doing justification to the character . His attempts of crying and punching on screen were quite natural . Then comes the line up of real performers , Shabeer as Dancing Rose, what a performance with those gracious dancing moves during the boxing fights. John Vijay he needs a mention here for the kind of supporting role he played flavoured with those enjoyable English dialogues . Dushara as the female lead does a natural performance with a pleasant face . John Kokken as Vembulli fits well as opponent to Kabilan (Arya) in the ring. The character Raman played by Santhosh was equally good in par with other supporting roles . Ranjith ensures Kalaiyarasan to be part of this film playing a prominent role with opportunity to display his acting skills . Anupama as Kabilan's mom does a very neat job and ensures nothing more or nothing less to the need . Pasupathi needs a mention here too for being consistent in all his role and for adapting the requisite for the character . Even after so many years he doesn't show up getting old . The entire team has put in lots of efforts in not just building an interesting storyline but also to ensure every reel is filled with muscled looks of the characters appearing . Worth all the strenuous workouts done by the team . Cinematography was good , special mention goes to the art directors for recreating the old madras. BGM by Santosh Narayan fits well to the scenes and enriches the intensity . Stunt sequence were well timed and every punch was power packed . With all these aside , there was a need for trimming some portion in the second half to carry forward the intensity from the first half until end . Also felt the end was little simple and abrupt considering the buildup given in the previous scenes . Climax could have been maximised but felt very minimised . Except for this , the movie is thoroughly enjoyable and comes under a one time must watch category . Overall Sarpatta Paramparai , May not be Champions of Olympics but of OTT this 2021.
Malik (2021)
Malik, a classic .
Malik , a must watch movie for all people with MALayalam lIKingness and in particular for the fans of Fahadh Faasil . This movie was definitely made for a theatrical watch, unfortunate we are to see it in our living room . I'm sure fahadh is already in the lines of Mohanlal, Mammooty, Jayaram and soon to overtake them when it comes to performance . Without him , the Malayalam cinema wouldn't have been this exciting . What a natural performer he is, just fits in to any character and makes it so lively . The female lead Nimisha who had done about 10 odd films, in recent times have been appearing in many movies than expected sure for the beautiful and prominent performance that stands out . And then this Joju George, wow he is one classic actor this industry has . Whatever role he picks up he does it clean and ensures it stays in people's mind for a bit longer time . And there are more wonderful acting souls whom I couldn't recollect by name . The movie is crowded with loads of people and unsure how they were able to manage to get this done during Covid times . The BGM in many places synced well with the scene and proved as one of the biggest strength for such cult movies. Impressed with the screenplay , no big lags though a lengthy one . Sure this will be one of the best for Fahad , killing performance . But keeping all this aside , the story content, the scenes of this movie reminded me more of Kamalhassan's Nayagan and few others for some reason or other. Might have inspired the director big time . Whatsoever, I suggest u to steal a bit longer time to indulge yourself with a stupendous movie from Fahadh. Overall, Malik a Classic. #malik #myview #amazonprime.
