The Amityville Haunting (2011)
Umm what?
This will have a spoiler.
OMG!! What in the world did I just watch? I love these kinds of movies, Blair Witch Project, The Jersey Devil, Paranormal Activity, love em all, but this? This was made by Asylum, so that should give you a giant red flag there, if the 1 star wasn't apparent. But forgiving that it's a rip off of movies that are already out there, the acting is just down right awful.
When the Tyler kid sees something for the first time, he sees a shadow of some sort, his line was.. Ah! No scream, no nothing behind it, just the word.. Ah, and then he ran! This is the spoiler.
When your kid stabs you in the heart, do you sit there, making groaning sounds.. lay back, then wait a few seconds, then put your hand over your heart, and shake a little bit, still groaning, then all of a sudden you stop your groaning, and let your hands flop down your side.
End of spoiler.
Come on!! This was a ridiculous acting performance done by everyone involved.
Repo Men (2010)
Good action, pretty gory, definitely worth the watch.
Okay folks, I will not give away any of this movie, so you can enjoy this treat yourself.
The only thing I will say is that the gore is, let's say, on par with Braveheart! The movie is not as good as Braveheart, but the gore is there.
Basically there is a company that will sell you a body part that you need, for an extraordinarily high price, ridiculous interest, but people will buy it because they don't want to leave their family. When they don't pay, and they get past due, they will send Repo Men to get the said appendage.
One of the Repo men get a new heart and starts falling behind on payments, and there you have it, an all out knives a throwing, guns a blazing, heads a smashing, saws a sawing, bloods a spraying movie. Loved it, found it funny how they so nonchalantly talk about taking someone's body part and keep on living their lives.
It's a good movie, you will enjoy it if you don't look too much into it, sure there are plot holes, sure it's over the top, but it's an enjoyable movie. For the other reviewers out there that say this movie sucks because of it being no way possible..well duh!! It's a movie!
Harry Brown (2009)
A very gritty view of London's Slums.
Wow, that's all I can say with this movie.
I had never heard of it, a friend of a friend said watch it and I'm glad I did. Never a dull moment in the movie, the first few minutes something shocking happens, and you are sitting there with your mouth open, like, did that just happen? Never a smile, nothing funny in this at all, just gritty, feels like you are really going through what he is going through, and Michael Caine is awesome! I've never heard of any of the actors in this movie, except Caine and the policewoman looked familiar, but they all did an outstanding job, extremely believable. The fights are brutal as they are shocking.
This is definitely a movie to sit through with no kids around, a lot of cuss words, a lot of nasty stuff going on, some wild rape scene and all of it makes you feel for the good guy.
The Tortured (2010)
Torture movie with an unexpected twist.
I won't give away any spoilers here, but this movie was a roller-coaster ride of emotions.
It's about a little boy that was kidnapped/tortured/abused/killed - and then it's the parents time to get justice.
I know everyone would say that if someone killed their child, they would kill them, well it's along that mindset. It's funny, because I was rooting for the parents, didn't feel remorse about what they did to him, because let's face it, if we were ever in a situation like that, who would NOT want to take the law into their own hands and inflict pain and suffering on someone who killed your kid.
The gore was not really too much, not on par with Saw or Hostel, but there are some moments that will make you wince, and feel very uncomfortable. The acting was very good for a straight to DVD movie, and on the whole it was a pretty good movie.
Old Dogs (2009)
Hilarious from beginning to end
This movie was hilarious.
I saw previews of it online, and laughed really hard, but thought they are probably just showing the funny parts in the trailer, and the movie is going to suck.
Boy was I wrong.
This movie kept me laughing out loud from beginning to end, when I wasn't laughing, I was smiling real big. Very clean, very fun, and the situations these 2 guys found themselves in was just awesome!!! Loved it, I recommend this to anyone that has a family that wants a good laugh.
My Bloody Valentine (2009)
I really wasn't expecting much, but it turned out pretty darn good.
The title doesn't make you run out to the movies to see it, unless your slasher junkie. And I used to be, with the likes of Scream and it's sequels. But in time I grew up, and thought, eh, not really my style so much these days, so I won't bother to go out of my way to watch them.
This movie first of all, came as a complete shock to me. It really had me guessing right up to the very end. I like movies that I can't figure out who it was. Every time I thought I knew who it was, then that person died. (Hope that wasn't a spoiler, yeah people die.) The creative ways that they film makers used to kill people off with a Pick Axe were sometimes quite original.
Of course you still have the moments when people act stupid, and fall over when running, or the killer cant see them when they are right next to them, but it all adds to the fun, and the movie doesn't take itself seriously which makes it better. Nothing worse than a serious horror movie.
I liked it, well worth watching it in 3D. Probably still like it if it wasn't in 3D.
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009)
Why is everyone saying this movie is a bad movie.
I just left the theaters seeing this, and usually when I read reviews here in IMDb, they are 9 of out 10 accurate.
So I got to the movies, not expecting to see much, and I was completely glued to the seat. The only time I wasn't was when my little girl needed to use the bathroom, and I knew the length of it, and she couldn't have held it in.. anyway.
This was a fantastic special effects, blow-up-a-thon. I loved it. People are saying the acting is fake, it has no plot, it's definitely not a good movie, it sucks. But it's none of that.
The acting, the same as the first, there is much more comedy in it, which was great, quite a few laugh out loud moments.
The plot?? Did anyone that said it had no plot whatsoever actually see the movie?? I guess not. The plot is that more bad guys are coming to earth, and are going to destroy it. There is something called the Matrix Key, like the All Spark in the first movie, and its gotta be used to stop them.... Sounds like a plot to me.
Special effects, just plain AWESOME!!!! It also seems a lot more violent than the first one. Like in this one you see a transformer put his fist through another transformer, and a sword like thing gets put through another transformer, kinda graphic, but very well done. Loved it all.
Megan and Shia. Megan OMG complete eye candy, gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous, and of course she can act. Shia, great actor, very funny in parts. His mom and dad, very funny. The chemistry in the first one, was there in the second one.
New Transformers. Ha, the two black acting transformers, including a gold tooth, they were very funny, one of the lines "Hey that hurt", "Yeah? It's supposed to hurt, thats why they call it an ass kicking". The other little evil Decepticon robot, with a Jersey accent who tries to hump Megans leg? Hilarious. So wrong on so many levels, but freaking hilarious.
The only bad thing I can see with this movie, and I saw it in the first movie too. You can't really see who is fighting who in some of it. I mean they are these hulking machines rolling around, and they are all made out of metal, the good guys have some color, and the bad guys don't, but you still cant see 100%, but that's the ONLY bad thing there is about both movies.
Apart from that, excellent movie. Well worth the money spent to go see it.
Knowing (2009)
Why is everyone saying this is a bad movie??
I loved this movie. I don't see what everyones problem is. Just because it deals with some Christian beliefs, maybe some Scientology doctrines added in for good measure, take it for what it is. It is not preaching to you, it is not all about God, and creation, it's about a threat to the world. I won't go any further about that, because I don't want to spoil it for people.
But please, give this movie a chance. Don't go into it thinking that it will be like every other disaster movie you see, this one actually requires a bit of knowledge of some prophecy (set out in the bible - no I'm not preaching) to really get some of it, but even if you don't know anything about the bible, you should enjoy this movie for what it is. The is definitely not a movie for a date night. Unless your both into impending doom movies, but this is an excellent movie all around.
Parts of it really got me on the edge of my seat, and the music that goes with it at those tense times really help build it up. Some scary parts, just because you don't know whats going to happen, where the men in black (no not Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones Men In Black), but other men in black appear, and they are genuinely creepy looking.
Love this movie, love it love it love it. I didn't want it to end at the end of 2 hours. I could have gladly watched another hour or so.
The only silly part in it was when the plane crashed, someone who was on fire was running past Nicholas Cage, and Nic was like, "Hey-HEY", trying to ask them a question from the looks of it.. I mean the guys on fire, he's not going to talk to you.... But apart from that one particular line in the movie, it was AWESOME!!!
Meet Dave (2008)
Glad I went and saw it.
I took my daughter to see this movie, shes 6, there was nothing else playing, and I needed to get out with her, just me and her time, and it was raining, so movie was the perfect idea.
A huge Old School Eddie Murphy fan, and starting to like his new stuff a little, decided to take a chance on this one, thinking to myself, its not gonna be that good, but my daughter might find it funny.
From the get go, we arrived like 3 mins late so it had already started, but this was such a funny movie. There were a lot of big belly laughs from the audience, my daughter, and more surprisingly ME. This was a laugh a minute movie. Great family entertainment, very mild for kids, my daughter even laughed at the gay guy (johnny dazzle), it was fantastic. Highly recommend anyone to see this movie. Eddie Murphy fan or not, great movie, very funny, nice family film. And whats with people not liking Norbit?? But thats another review.
Insanitarium (2008)
It was alright
OK, forget the realism you are looking for. Its a zombie movie. Ain't no realism in there. Just like all the other zombie movies.
The first 20 mins I really liked. I think it would have been a cool idea to have him committed and then the movie go from the crazy/mad/psyche kind of view, ending up along the lines of... maybe he is really crazy. But no, they went the zombie route, which was fine with me too, just they could have made this into a ...really maybe he is crazy kind of movie.
Overall, this was a pretty good movie, definitely not for the ones that don't like blood and guts spraying everywhere, a few scenes of nudity, a corrupt guard, and an even worse doctor running the show, makes for a fairly entertaining movie.
Don't take it too seriously, if you are looking for a regular movie, with a not so Hollywood ending, then this one is for you. This is definitely not a Romantic Comedy that you would want to sit down with your wife/girlfriend/partner/significant other with.
Wanted (2008)
Freakin' Bullet-Bendingly Awesome!
I saw the trailers for it, and I have to admit that the tattoo's showing on the back of Angelina Jolie, made me wanna see it just a little bit more, what can I say, Im a man.
But WOW! This movie is awesome. I read on here that people say that its not realistic, its too much like matrix... Was Matrix not an excellent movie, with the exception that you had to watch it a few times to understand it. People.. Listen, Its a movie, its not supposed to be realistic, and especially about bending bullets, come on. Anyone expecting to see a movie that is realistic, when in the trailers it pretty much shows you people bending bullets, what would you expect? Action is over the top (but its awesome), CGI over the top, (but its awesome) no guidelines for reality (but its awesome). Well worth seeing at the movies. Ignore the comments about it being stupid, and not realistic, well DUH! I could have told you that before seeing the movie. One of the best movies this year you all need to go see it.
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008)
Good movie, Don't know whats missing...if anything
You ever watch another movie that was stemmed off from another movie, either sequels, trilogys, etc? Im sure everyone has.
Thinking back on the first 3 movies, over the top stunts, supernatural storyline (ark, stones, holy grail), and lots of over the top action, throw in some comedy, suspense, small amounts of horror (skeletons, dead bodies etc), and you got yourself a typical Indiana Jones movie.
There's something missing, or there's a little too much. Im not sure. I understand the whole crystal skull thing, but I think that seeing the alien ship at the end was just a bit too much, and didn't really fit into an Indiana Jones movie. But it wasn't overdone in my opinion.
But still it has all of the above that the other 3 movies have, its just.... different. Maybe its just cuz were older, and I have been waiting for this movie since I was 15, Im 28 now. I remember seeing in a magazine, that Indiana Jones 4 was coming out with a TBA next to it, so I have been waiting for this a long time, just like everyone else. Maybe all the time waiting, I was expecting it to be just like the first 3 movies, and no great special effects, that might have been the too much part of it. But all in all it was a good movie, definitely one worth buying, and its still great family entertainment.
The family entertainment has been there in ALL Indy Movies.
Catacombs (2007)
I didn't think I was going to like it****** CONTAINS SPOILER*******
OK, heres the deal, a young girl goes to an all night raver, and it happens to be in one of the creepiest places in Paris, underground, with a bunch of skeletons, cuz way back in the day (which happens to be a Wednesday - jk), the government or whatever decided to move all the dead people under the city cuz they run out of room. OK cool So this young girl goes to Paris, and the horror begins. Its not overly scary, and the jumps are few and far between when it gets past the initial chase scene with the main character. But its a pretty good movie, the ending, people saying it was a terrible ending, it was kinda unexpected, but when I saw her swinging the axe next to her side, it was kinda obvious, but killing everyone?? thats what got me. Good movie.
Idiocracy (2006)
Funny as Hell.
I had no clue what this movie was about. Didn't see any trailers for it, just overheard someone talking about it at work, saying it was pretty funny, making fun of how we live today.
I saw about 2 mins of it on Cinemax, it was talking about the plants, and that they love electrolyte, its what they crave, and they crave it because they need it, and brawndo makes it because it has electrolytes and thats what plants crave, so they must need it because they crave it, and it has electrolytes, and thats what plants crave.
That was all I saw, and I was like,,, OK I need to watch this to see if its any good. OMG It was sooooo funny. Seriously mocking the way we live today, telling us that we are becoming dumber and dumber in society as life goes on. Even mimicking the "Jackass" show with the "Kick you in the balls show".
It was very original, very funny, we should watch it just for nothing else to burn a couple of hours, and laugh, and not think about the film making sense or anything, just enjoy the humor. If you don't like the humor, then don't watch it.
Big Nothing (2006)
Excellent
I had no idea what this movie was about. I didn't look here before, it was new at the video store, I had a free rental, couldn't find nothing else, so I decided I would give it a whirl!! Wow, so glad I did. I was very surprised at how funny this movie was, just because of the utter ridiculous circumstances that these guys get in to. Whatever can go wrong, does go wrong. It is hilarious tho. Ya know people are complaining about yeah we have seen this kind of movie before where there are a lot of twists and turns (reindeer games) that kind of thing, but it was enjoyable, funny, lighthearted, not a whole bunch of cussing which is a good thing, but just a few words. Highly Entertaining, would recommend to anyone wanting something different, but funny, and seeing what happens to these characters. Good movie.
Pathfinder (2007)
Why does everyone dislike this movie?
OK people. Its simple.
This is not the best action flick, however it is original. Unlike the Conan series which surprisingly enough is unbelievable, since the whole sword and sorcery thing springing up, but what about the good old fashioned sword fight.
This movie is a good watch. Not the best, but don't expect wonders from films these days, you will get a diamond in the rough occasionally, but on the whole it was a fun move to watch. The fighting/action sequences were excellent. I mean going down a huge hill on the back of a shield with the vikings chasing him on their viking made sled, that was pure genius.
The only problem I did have with it, sometimes when there's a lot of action, it jumps around too quick, your not quite sure what you are seeing, but hey, on the whole, a good movie. Well worth the watch unless your gonna criticize anything and everything that you see. Its a movie, you pay to be entertained, not to pick faults. Sit down, watch it, don't expect anything that will blow your mind away, but just enjoy it for what it is, a good action viking, hack n slash flick
Remember the Titans (2000)
Breathtaking
Just to let you know this may not contain spoilers, but I didn't want to get blacklisted. Its not very often that I rate movies 10 out of 10! Most Disney movies are OK,I didn't even know this was a Disney movie, I didn't know anything about the movie period. I had heard of something about football, and that doesn't really interest me. All I knew was it had Denzil Washington in it, so it might be OK. The first few seconds the music started, put a chill down my spine. Movies with an excellent score (lord of the rings trilogy, brave-heart, titanic, last of the Mohican's, etc) they help the movie be even better. I knew I had heard the music before, but had no idea, maybe when I was channel hopping or something. Anyway, back to the movie. We were taken away from our work for a couple of hours because our team had really come together for a few hard months, and won a quarter at work so we were rewarded with a couple of hours off... so Kudos to "CitiBank" for that:) But its a team building movie. Denzil Washington was amazing as usual, Will Patton, excellent, and all the young talent. Everyone was so incredible. There were times the movie was so... moving.. tears welled up in my eyes, and it wasn't even the sad part in the movie. Overall... best movie I have seen in a long long time. I recommend this to family's, not so much for younger kids, IE 5 or so.. probably wont appeal. But to 8 and above, and the rest of the family. Definitely one I will be buying in the near future.
Chain Reaction (2006)
This gives me high hopes.
I selected 1 out of 10. If any one is thinking of renting, god, let alone BUYING this piece of s***, Don't! I only watched 40 Minutes of it, and turned it off, and I don't usually do that. If I rent a movie, then I will watch it all the way through, doesn't matter how bad it is.. with the exception of "Beyond the Wall of Sleep" another P.O.S movie.
Doesn't the main bad guy, I have no idea of his name, the one that was in control from the looks of things, didn't anyone tell him to act instead of shout to sound menacing? My guess is that from the rest of the reviews they all die, I could care less one way or the other, it was a bad movie. I didn't care about any of the characters. I mean if your a bad ass.. make sure people like you, make sure you have something there that people care about. For example..... From Dusk Till Dawn.... The 2 bad guys in there..you really didn't want them to die, they were likable, to a certain degree... maybe its the name, but the way how George Clooney acted, compared to this retard that was trying to scream at everyone... I mean come on... there's no comparison. But my friends, thats the reason why it gave me High Hopes... for when I do become an actor. I know, even tho I haven't been to acting school, I could still pull off a better movie than this..... I hope anyways.
Bad Movie.. Don't RENT IT, Don't BUY IT.
Silent Hill (2006)
What a Load of.....
What a load of..........Blood, at the end lol. The barbed wire scene is awesome, very imaginative. I have played Silent Hill 4 - The Room, thats the only one I played for like 10 mins, because my computer couldn't run it properly, thats the only Silent Hill thing that I have experienced. Knowing the movie was based on the games, or Silent Hill 1 which everyone raved about, or was it Silent Hill 2, either way I figured I would give it a look-see.
AMAZING. Had no idea what the film was about when I started watching it. It wasn't really horror, its was more horror/mystery, not like the normal everyday horror movies that we see these days that last for 1hr 30 mins. With tits, and sex, hot girls. This movie had NONE of that, and thank god. Finally a movie that was made, without hot women that lose their clothes, that have sex in the middle of a murder massacre, its so nice to see a movie like this that cuts out the stupid teenager stuff.
Loved this movie, will eagerly await the second movie. Hopefully it will live up to the first movie. The part at the end... got me thinking.. are they dead? I wont spoil that part for ya.. but if u want to know, then look in the User parts.. Its an interesting explanation. I don't know if playing the games would help me understand the ending more? But Im gonna go buy the game if it is available just to see what its like.
Freakshow (2007)
75 minutes boring 10 minutes good
Come on now. You cant expect someone to watch a movie just cuz it is said to be banned in 43 countries can you?? Well I was victim to that. Thats the only reason why I rented. Stuck it in my DVD player hoping for a half descent movie. The nudity... ahhh its OK.. not great, but its alright. The acting????? There's no need to comment on that. The freaks?? Yeah OK they were real sideshow performers, but I thought that for example the wolf man, or wolf boy played by veekay, was really a wolf boy/man... but apparently he just had a bunch of hair stuck to his face.. So it didn't lie when it said using sideshow performers, but it wasn't what you would have expected. Like the elephant man, if there is one out there why not use him.. but it was a mask.. The make up was excellent I will give it that, but these days, its easy to make things look real. The only good part of the movie, was just gross. Im not a squeamish person, but I had to say.. wow.. looked real. And to someones comment who said "Im wondering if they used a real person or not"... what the hell are you talking about? Do you really think someone is going to get killed that way on camera for the sakes of a shitty movie?? Some people are soooooo stupid.. just for that person.. its called PROSTHETICS....
Anyways, movie was bad, acting was bad, banned in 43 countries.. more like..rejected from 43 countries cuz it was soooo FREAKing boring (haha) only good part is the 10 minute torture scene but don't rent it for that, rent something you might enjoy, like The hills have eyes.
Dark Reality (2006)
Not the best movie in the world
The not the best movie in the world???? That was an understatement. I personally didn't like this movie at all. Not because of the story line, not because of the graphic violence, and the nudity. The nudity didn't really need to be in it, it did nothing for the story, except maybe the girls were going through a rough time, and being naked probably messed them up even more. But one of the things in the movie that I hated.. was that it was sooooo dark. You couldn't really make out what was going on. I think if it wasn't as dark, and you could see where they were, then it might not have been so bad. All you know that its a basement somewhere. You see no house, no road, the killer in it, all you could see was half his face for about 5 seconds. I wanna see some stuff in a movie. It gets boring after 20 mins of pretty much darkness and all you see occasionally is a flashlight or a wall. Then you will hear the girl sobbing. There was nothing that really stuck out to me that was good about the movie, maybe the suspense in the first 10 mins of the film... but not the suspense of how the movie is going to end, but the suspense of.. will I get to see anything in this movie but a few naked bodies and various flashing lights. But honestly people, this was a Saw meets Blair Witch Project wannabe. Both top notch movies, and both with the correct lighting to figure out what was going on. Forget this movie if you can see.. if your a blind person.. you might wanna rent it to hear the screams if your into that sort of thing. But then again if you are blind, your probably not reading this either.. so anyway... BAD MOVIE!!!!
