Murder, She Wrote: Funeral at Fifty-Mile (1985)
Season 1, Episode 21
8/10
Sign of the times
12 November 2023
I am amused by the character Carl's hair dye. In the house he has the notorious "blue" hair. Back in the 70s, 80s the gray haired elderly, most commonly ladies, would dye their gray hair and intentional or not, their hair would have a blue hue. Ergo the saying "blue haired ladies clutching their pearls". Carl's hair is most definitely blue hued. Now turn to the scene where he's hanging in the barn and his hair is suddenly transformed to brown. I would've never noticed the change until I started reminiscing about my grandmother's gray hair back then which did not have the blue hue. And then there was Carl all of a sudden with brown hair, not a lick of gray or blue.

NCIS: New Orleans: A New Dawn (2018)
Season 4, Episode 14
Another NOLA mayor
2 April 2023
In 2014 the mayor was corrupt democrat Mitch Landrieu who was re-elected. His sister is former US Senator Mary Landrieu (D), John Kennedy (R and former democrat) now holds her old seat. Anyway, carpetbagger (Los Angeles) LaToya Cantrell democrat took over. She's got great and well deserved nicknames: latoya the destroya and La Toilet. She spent $30k taxpayer money on 1st class overseas airfare she first said she would not repay, while her security and entourage tickets were standard, her security guard is getting divorced due to an ongoing affair with LaToilet where the two abused the privilege of a city owned apartment, abuse of power anyone?! These abuses are ONLY the ones that are known and have made the news. NOLA now has the highest per capita murders, shootings, car jacking and thefts or close to the highest, they certainly did not decrease since the 'destroya' took over. And lastly, Latoya the destroya just (March 2023) faced a recall wherein the registrar of voters office did not allow any recall petitioner's representatives in to watch the count, the Secretary of State opted out of oversight, no chain of custody over the weekend of the pertinent signature documents and the registrar declared 45,000 signatures ineligible. La Toilet survived the "recall".

Way to go in 2023 NOLA.

All the above info came to mind when the NCIS NOLA characters were discussing the reliance on low voter turnout for a special election during Mardi Gras season...that's definitely the way they'll do ya in Louisiana.

Enjoy your visit to the Crescent City ~

What's the song at the end?
3 August 2022
I searched for the song at the end of the episode. Found Bite the Buffalo but end song isn't them. It's an excellent haunting tune. Let me know if someone out there knows who sings it "Only Yesterday" is some of the words. Thanks!

Where's Part 2?
27 April 2022
The episode ended with "to be continued".

Episode 11 is not the continuation and then there's two eps left of the series. Oh well, I guess Addison doesn't have anything else to do with the cousin.

Sloppiness leads to the series end or end of the series causes sloppiness.

Out takes / bloopers in the closing credits
22 April 2022
Don't miss out. Just so happened to let the credits roll when scenes started playing and I thought I must've rewound back to episode. Only it was scenes from a different episode. Had a good laugh at the Cockatoo attacking Sheperd.

Digging this series
26 February 2022
Irony that this episode mentions Edmond Burke's quote "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." As today 2/25/22 Putin is in day 4 of invading Ukraine. Not saying joebama is a good man by any stretch, but Ukraine sure needs air defense and potentate house plant is standing around doing nothing at his Delaware house.

What's the deal with all the Hearst?
20 February 2022
Would've never known that was Patty Hearst playing Selma Hearst Rose. But her acting was so terrible I wanted to read the actress's bio. Low and behold it's Patty! Just an after thought about why is the Hearst name so prevalent in the show? Money?

Bruh, what a horrible episode
7 January 2022
It's as if they WANTED to go off the air on a bad note. The total transition from a legal show to a bad sitcom at a house with absolutely no storyline. I'd watch the abortion episode (ew) again over this one.

Amazing to be able to see...
18 December 2021
...when a show is going downhill. Usually starts when the main characters become producers and/or directors trying to keep their series alive. This show is slipping exceptionally fast. The compulsion to see the show through to the end is waning...

A great episode**
29 October 2021
**And I was just about to stop watching because of scully's "nails on chalkboard" voice. This episode had zero to little speaking so I've had a reprieve from her voice via a great storyline and might be able to tolerate the last few eps.

Not one single laugh nor smirk just zzzzzs

Incredible how humorless this attempt at political humor turned out. Now that I've finished watching episode 4 I realize I have a GREAT sleeping pill in this one anytime I need. I wasn't even tired when I started watching and before I knew it, it was all old worn out political hollyweird vs Trump hating. Scully's voice is truly grating as another reviewer mentioned. Thank y'all for the future sleeping pill!

6 October 2021
Allison's maiden name is Rolen. Why is she seeing Joe's dead grandmother Benoit? She's never met his parents until wedding weekend, how does she recognize dead granny Benoit. Imma rewatch to try to answer my own question.

It DOES say to be continued
13 August 2021
I read the other review while watching this episode and paid close attention when episode was ending. Sure enough it said tbc. Although the storyline does a fast somewhat unclear tying up to a conclusion making another half unnecessary.

It's a shame we can't chat with each other on IMDb. It's a single voice platform - wink.

However, is this the one time Fletcher has ever mentioned her mother?

Murder, She Wrote: Lone Witness (1993)

No politics please
3 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I read goofs first and hunt them down while watching the episode. This episode had the strangest goof and it was repetitive. In the scene when the lieutenant was discussing the diamonds with Fletcher there were shadows moving behind and over *his* right shoulder. The scene would change to Fletcher or the other detective, come back to the lieutenant and shadows continue moving behind him. Completely pulls the viewer out of their enjoyment of the episode.

Also, I've retreated away from politics and news during 2021 and appreciate everyone dropping politics at the door before entering any comments in IMDb.
