Stargate SG-1: 1969 (1999)
uninteresting filler episode
This is a filler episode. Magic time travel. Ooo, the late 60s and hippies were interesting and cool. We will toss in a couple younger versions of main characters. For a time travel episodes, the number of anachronisms was quite high.
I have no idea why anyone liked this episode. I have stopped re-watching it.
If you hated Star Trek 4 and the crew romping around modern earth and being out of place, you will hate this episode for the same reason.
If you loved the Enterprise crew being dorks in SF, you will love this episode. If you love watching hokey 60s flash back movies, this is for you.
How this episode made a top ten list, I will never understand.
Highlander: The Source (2007)
do not watch this, ever, no matter what (might not contain spoilers)
there is NOTHING about this movie, absolutely nothing, worth watching NOTHING
if you liked the movie, if you liked the series, do yourself a HUGE favor, do NOT WATCH this
1) the music is terrible (cheap at best)
2) the writing is so amazingly bad
3) talking heads, rather than acting
4) stilted acting, wooden heads reading lines from cue cards
5) worthless directing
6) INANE dialog
7) the ending? insipid
8) special effects? why bother, NOTHING could save this movie
9) sword fighting? nope, people banging sticks together
I really don't understand why anyone spent any money on this. I can't understand why the scifi channel broadcast this.
Battlestar Galactica (2003)
great job so far, part 2 is tomorrow
After having just watched a ton of the old episodes, I am glad they used none of the old cast. Would have made the new show campy or lame. Look at how stupid star trek is everytime an old cast member won't just die already!!
Of course some of the characters are re cast as women. Of course they change some parts of the story.
But they made it better. And there is almost NO way they can screw up the ending!!
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001)
Great Movie; true to the book in every way
1) nearly perfect casting, Snape was Snape and Potter was Potter
2) great pacing, they tried to fit as much of the novel in as reasonable
3) magic was a matter of fact, not an excuse to use special effects
4) brilliant staging, it felt exactly like it was supposed to
5) true to the book, things were edited and collapsed but the story was not changed
