Sick, disgusting, and amazing
22 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This movie is very dark, very messed up, and very good. A controlling father's daughter attempts to leave the house at 18 to escape his grip... the father kidnaps her in his own basement, lying to the family saying she ran away. He keeps her down there for 20 years and impregnates her several times, forcing her to keep the kids. Dark, disturbing, brilliant.

The side story might be better than the main plot
19 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
At first, I thought of this show as a cheap spin-off of Rick and Morty, which kind of stole the plot from Invader Zim. While this is somewhat true, the story line is actually unique enough from Zim - in that they left because their planet was destroyed, not sent because they're incompetent. The characters are hilarious, and my favorite part of the whole show is the side-story where the aliens kidnap and shrink people and put them in their ant terrarium. These miniature people end up developing their own society and it's a great side-story, a-la "Honey, I Shrunk the Kid"

Warning: Spoilers
Oh hey, did you know there was a pandemic? Are you not afraid enough? Let's beat you over the head with it for your entertainment. Oh also, all cops are stupid, and it's totally necessary for Micky and Ian to talk about their 5x buttsex marathon, and how Micky's butthole is burning. Oh and also, all poor people are stupid. Oh and also I guess eating edibles will make you do gay stuff in the bathroom with your longtime friend. The end. This show used to be SOOOO good.

Think of him kind of like the right version of Bill Maher. Agree with him or not, he comes armed with facts. You're a strange animal, that's all I know.

A new and creative idea
3 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
With most of Hollyweird being creatively bankrupt, and the only good movies coming out of adaptations of novels or comic books, Ben Stiller really hit the mark on this fascinating droll dramedy. The first thing that I have to say about it that I enjoy is that it's just WEIRD. From the colors, to the way people interact with each other, to the daily interactions of the employees. The idea itself is fascinating - wouldn't it be nice to separate your work self from your off-work self? Sure, but it would cause all kinds of issues, and this show dives deeply into them.

The company itself has a very dystopian, Chinese feel. In fact, this entire show could a most be seen as a sort of warning for what happens if the Chinese government controls the world. There is a scene where someone tries to run away from work, and they make her re-read the same apology over 1000 times, with a lie detector, until she "means it." The Chinese government is famous for doing this to people, especially that one ethnic group that they like to put in camps. Peng Shui was also likely kidnapped and made to read propaganda over and over until she "got it right."

Very fascinating movie. The only part that kind of sucks is that you have to watch Christopher Walken trying to figure out if he is gay or not or something.

A&F was never for me but...
20 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I never really cared. I simply wore other clothing, because other clothing spoke more to me than A&F. This entire documentary tries to paint them as an evil company for only wanting "hot" people to wear their clothing. Who really cares? There are plus-sized companies that only make clothes for plus-sized people, hot topic for people who don't have friends (that was a joke), et cetera et cetera. There are all different clothes out there tailored to all different people, so who really cares if there is one brand of clothes tailored toward "hot" people (no matter what your definition of hot is, or what you agree with it)?

Also, there's this obvious hatred toward white people, even though as someone else mentioned, A&F didn't discriminate against color, they discriminated against what they saw as "non-hot people." I like some of Netflix's stuff and I'm not so sure why they are hell-bent on dividing people with angry and hateful content like this. There's literally clothing out there for every type of person. Humans can even buy their own stirrups if they want to pretend to be a horse, don't sit there and tell me all these people were horribly oppressed by A&F because they weren't able to wear their clothes. Cry me a freakin' river, build up an ice damn behind a glacier, and flood my plains cuz I ain't buying it.

Where's JK Rowling in the credits?
20 April 2022
I don't understand why movies want to distance themselves from their creators. They are who they are, if you don't agree with their stance on something or their behavior, that doesn't all of a sudden mean that they didn't make something. Rowling created the entire potter universe, and they're fine with canceling her and cashing in on her creativity. Creatively bankrupt Hollywood continues to be more creative at acquiring content than they are at just... being creative. All they can do is buy content from writers or comics, then cancel them or do something else so that they can have an excuse to take their work from them. Disgusting. I've canceled most of my cable and am back to bootlegging, as I find it challenging to give my money to any of these vile beings anymore.

Better than most
29 March 2022
With all the woke crap filtering through TV, The Righteous Gemstones has really been a breath of fresh air. It speaks to the hypocrisy of the modern mega-church in a hilarious manner. Edi Patterson is hilarious, she really makes you think "Oh, if Sarah Silverman were actually funny, it would look something like this."

John Goodman, Danny McBride, Adam Devine, and a host of other supporting actors really bring this show together and make it both hilarious and dramatic.

I found a woke show I like
8 February 2022
This show is actually pretty good, as far as the sci-fi aspect is concerned. Really cool visual effects, convincing and scary alien races, a good storyline, and good moral lessons about how humans interact with each other.

However, as most titles do now, the captain is a strong waman. Nothing wrong with that inherently, it's just getting a little annoying seeing Hollywood portray every soldier and captain and fighter as a woman, as if it's remotely accurate. I served in the military with some awesome women, but they were about 5% of the total force. Let's just be accurate with numbers - remember it's okay to have a white guy do something cool in your show.

There is also a dude with long hair who calls himself Ze, and they actually use this made-up pronoun in the show, which accounts for the other lost 3 stars.

Great

I had never heard of Joaquin Phoenix before this movie, but he really delivers a masterful performance. It does a great job of making you relate to the character and sympathize with why he goes off the deep end. It moves sort of slow, it's more of a psychological thriller than an action movie.

Fun and Funny
4 February 2022
In a world where so many movies try to push a political agenda, or simply lack any sort of depth or creativity, it's nice to see a movie that's simply funny and enjoyable to watch. It's sort of like a Westworld meets GTA with a hilarious twist.

Ryan Reynolds has always done a good job of being effortlessly funny, and this is no exception.

The sad decline of Colbert
4 February 2022
Steven Colbert rose to fame doing a great character on "The Colbert Show." He played a parody version of a far-right republican, but did a great job of straddling the line and making fun of the left and right. In his newest show, The Late Show with Steven Colbert, he has replaced all that nuance and deep thought. Everything that made Colbert funny no longer exists, and is in stead replaced by cringe dancing needles, Spotify hate, and basically trying to take CNN's messaging and make it funny (unsuccessfully). Like SNL, they decided to cater to the very fringe alt-left sect of our society.

In stead of finding things that are funny and presenting them in an even funnier way, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert starts with talking points and ideas that they would like to spread, and try to make it funny. This is like performing a scientific experiment by starting with the conclusion and using that conclusion that you want to develop your hypothesis.

I'm going to keep dropping one star for every year they continue this crap

Politics politics politics. Comedy? Not so much present anymore. Absolutely and seriously unfunny. You know what I really want to see when I tune into comedy shows? Constant making fun of trump and a clown talking about getting an abortion. Just such a terrible and cringeworthy show, Lorne Michaels apparently had a double orchiectomy.

Amazing
16 November 2021
It was more of a cerebral thriller than I remember it as a kid. After seeing Jordan Peele's woke version, I had to go back and see the original. I have to say after being severely disappointed by the mentally ill Peele, this movie was quite refreshing.

What more is there to say? This man doesn't back down to the thought police. In a world where so many people are afraid to be themselves and say what they mean, Dave Chappelle brings some color to a gray and bleak world.
