Last night in soho is less Edgar Wright but more fantastic directing
31 October 2021
As a long time fan of Edgar wright and his style I noticed it definitely was toned down for this. But it appears in the same fashion as his other films just not as much. Which is completely okay in fact I think it elevates it even more because Edgar wasn't attempting to follow the same style he had set in place with his prior movies he could just direct the way he wanted to, how he wanted to and that gave us great performances, fantastic framing and pacing, great editing and sound design. It also only further proved Edgar Wright is more than just a flashy music obsessed director. He's a true master of the art. His work should be respected more and this film only further increases that.

Bo Burnham: Inside (2021 TV Special)
10/10
Bo's Masterpiece that needs to be taken seriously.
5 June 2021
Bo should no longer be considered just a comedian he is largely a filmaker because truly thats what this special is. A film. It should not be called a comedy special it should just be a Netflix special.

Theres so many things to say about this everything from how simple yet genius the framing and lighting is to how wordy and funny some of the songs are. This is truly unlike any other "comedy special" I have seen in the past and is by far my favorite out of any of them.

"Inside" tells the loosely based story of Bo's thoughts and feelings during the pandemic and quarintine we quickly figure out Bo did this as a distraction from the messed up world around him but he quickly never wanted this distraction to end almost like he wishes to reflect on his feelings and current world problems for forever.

This special brings you inside the genius and complex mind of Bo. It truly shows how Bo thinks how he feels and hoo he got through his period of isolation. It touches on Mental health, current politics, the state of the world and the end of the world all in a way that feels geniune and not forced.

This is the only piece of media that I have seen that truly holds how it feels to be completely and totally isolats ted in onehoughts and feelings. Please you are doing yourself a favor to watch it.

The movie to watch if you love illegal civ.

I'm gonna keep this short and straight to the point

This is Mikey alfreds first time as a director and for the first time it's great. However some of the writing especially Miranda cosgroves writing felt very unnatural and it felt like she was reading a script and trying to put emotion behind it. On the other hand in my opinion Ryder, Aramis, Angus Cloud all were very surprised me in their abilities Nico Hiraga was good don't get me wrong just some of his like delivery was very strange.

The story is simple and straight to the point it also doesn't waste anytime from the very beginning he wants to be a pro skater and he strives for it.

Overall a very good film for a debut and I'm excited to see where this team and this director goes in the future.

Builds up and up and completely explodes.
22 October 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This film is definitely not for everyone. If you come into this movie fully expecting just another Quentin killing movie you will be disappointed but the characters, setting, acting and finale is already enough to give this a watch.

Quentin is known for having violence that is bloody and gruesome and his movies are usually filled with a compelling plot that grabs the person watching the film making them want to keep watching to see whats next. That's not here but what is here is great dialogue, fantastic performances from Leonardo Dicaprio, Brad Pitt and Margot Robbie.

The ending is nothing short of absolutely perfect the comedy throughout this movie is already hilarious but when the flamethrower is shown at the beginning of the movie and then brought at the end it makes the person watching feel connected they point and laugh realizing the entire point of showing the flamethrower was just to show this absolutely fantastic moment. The final night is absolutely the highlight of this movie but everything else including the build up isn't for everyone but is certainly for the avid film watcher.

This is a perfect send off for Quentin's movie career even if this may not be the last movie he makes it would be a great ending point if it was. In the end its a perfect love letter to Hollywood and old LA

Drive (I) (2011)

Great crime movie even better if you watch it as a romance and even better if you understand what lies beneath
22 October 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This movie is definitely at the top of my list for this decade. Everything from the action scenes to the acting between Ryan Gosling and Carey Mulligan is perfect. The movie is more of message for love and how you can lose it if you try to hard. The marketing puts it as an awesome movie full of car chases. IT IS NOT THIS. And in my opinion that it great what Refn has done with this movie is nothing short of incredible. The chemistry between Driver and Irene only makes you want Driver to win more and more. This movie shouldn't and doesn't appeal to the classic dude bro who loves awesome car chases and action scenes Ryan Gosling is playing a genuinely flawed character who is lonely and still fights for the girl he knows he wont get. If you like romances or even movies with a strong message and depth behind them you will absolutely love this movie the action 10/10 dialogue 10/10 acting 10/10 characters 20/10 please give this movie a watch .
