"Wow." ~ Owen Wilson
28 February 2023
My mind has been blown into smithereens. I'm a big The Weeknd fan and was really excited when he announced the After Hours Til Dawn Tour, but I was disappointed when I found out the closest show to me was four hours away and on an inconvenient date. However, I was really happy when I found out that HBO Max was going to release a filmed concert. I had very high expectations for this and yet he somehow managed to exceed them. The Weeknd is very young and I might even go as far as to say that he is one of the greatest visual performers of all time! His stage and pyrotechnics blew my mind, especially during "The Hills". My only real complaints are too much cursing for my liking (I mean, I know it's TV-MA, but still) and I just beat an almost six year battle with epilepsy and the strobe lights are pretty strong in this. Those strobe lights still bother me. So, if you are one of my fellow epileptic warriors, I'm sorry, but it would be wise for you to avoid this concert.

FrAAAAAAAAnce!
24 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Aubrey Plaza delivered! She really shined in her monologue and the "Miss Universe" sketch. What I especially loved about the latter was that the energy and the vibe that she brought in that sketch reminded me a whole lot of what Kate McKinnon brought to the table back during her run. I was scared that it wouldn't be that good due to Cecily Strong's departure, but I was wrong. I will say though that the HIV sketch was funny yet did get old as it went on as did all the George Santos jokes, but this still was a great episode. However, it still isn't as good as Steve Martin and Martin Short. "Saturday Night Live" made a huge mistake turning Aubrey Plaza down back when she auditioned to be on the show earlier in her career!

Just As Bad As I Thought It Would Be
18 October 2022
First of all, I feel bad for Megan Thee Stallion because I just found out what all crap she has been through recently. Now, with that being said, I think I might have preferred the Billie Eilish episode from last season more, and I can't stand Billie Eilish! Back to Megan, I barely got a word out of her monologue because she was talking at light speed, she acted like herself in every sketch, the writing was bad for the most part, and the only decent sketches were "Deer" and "We Got Brought". I didn't even watch her musical performances because I can't stand her music. So, yeah, those were my thoughts about this episode.

Marvel's Origin Story For Fiona From "Shrek"
19 August 2022
First, I know everyone is talking about this, but the CGI in this is on par with the CGI from James Gunn's "Scooby-Doo" movie. However, even if it had better CGI, I still don't think I'd like this episode. Overall, it just felt very bland and stiff, if that makes sense. I know it may be a little too early on in the show to be judging it, but let me just say that I don't really like the casting job they did for She-Hulk. Tatiana Maslany just gives off the vibe that she couldn't care less about being there. She-Hulk in the comics is basically a quippy character like Deadpool or how Chris Pratt plays Star-Lord, but she really isn't that funny in the show. I am a firm believer that Marvel should've casted Natasha Lyonne in the role of She-Hulk instead. Everything in this episode just feels forced and a little bit off.

My Sister Loves This Show

I highly recommend this show for younger kids. What I like about this show is that it's one of the rare kid's shows that won't drive the parents up the wall and make them lose their sanity. I have absolutely no complaints about this show.

Arguably The Best Episode Of The Season
23 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Despite what many people say, this was arguably the best episode of the season. It was either this one or the John Mulaney one. It had many things that made it so great. First of all, Natasha Lyonne was hysterical in her "Saturday Night Live" hosting debut. Kudos to her for barely ever breaking any in the episode because it wouldn't have taken long for me to break. We got to see the grand return of Ms. Rafferty (who is sadly no longer with us). Natasha's monologue was hilarious yet very genuine and honest, which I deeply appreciated. Natasha cracked me up in that baseball sketch, but I'd have to say what made me laugh the most was the "Mr. Dooley" sketch. It was nice to see Fred and Maya make cameos too. With all due respect, I'm happy to see my least favorite cast member Kyle Mooney leave and I'm fine with Pete Davidson's departure, but I was sad to see Aidy Bryant and Kate McKinnon leave (especially the latter). However, it was nice to see Kate get the epic sendoff she deserved! She will be greatly missed! Overall, it was a great episode!

An Improvement From The Previous Episode
11 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This episode was an improvement from the Jerrod Carmichael one. While it was a mixed bag, I felt it had more good sketches than it did bad ones. My favorites included "Why'd You Like It", "Dream Home Cousins", and "Truck Stop CD". "Spring Flowers" was funny, but it was too dirty for my liking. "Cabaret Night" was my least favorite. That was fell flat to me. Weekend Update was good, but even though jogging to Kelly Clarkson is out, that doesn't stop me from doing it. Overall, it was good, but it wasn't great.

Never Heard Of The Host; Never Heard Of The Musical Guest
3 April 2022
Let me just start by saying that I had low expectations coming into this episode. I had never heard of Jerrod Carmichael or Gunna. I wasn't too big on the cold open. However, I will say that Jerrod's monologue had me laughing pretty hard. There were a couple good sketches. My favorites were "Post-COVID Game Show" and "Shop TV". Other than those, nothing stuck out to me. Leading up to this episode, people were anticipating a sketch about the Chris Rock and Will Smith Oscars drama, but I felt that the sketch they did about that was very lackluster. I wasn't too big on Gunna, but then again, I'm not that big a rap fan. Overall, this episode was decent. It had its funny moments, but it wasn't great.

It's Hard To Follow Up John Mulaney
7 March 2022
Okay, let me just say that this cold open was one of the most offensive things I have ever seen! I felt attacked and like they were trying to put words into my mouth! However, I forgave them and moved on with the episode. Let me also say that I feel bad for Oscar Isaac because he had to follow John Mulaney, which I consider to be the best episode so far this season. I expected a mid-tier episode, but those expectations were exceeded, just not by much. The "Paw Patrol" sketch was hilarious and I died of laughter during "Fiction Workshop". One thing I love about Oscar Isaac as an actor is all the different voices he uses for his characters, so I loved how he incorporated that into the sketches. I will say this. The most memorable sketch of the night was also probably the most cursed thing I've seen in my entire life and that sketch is "Meatballs". I really got a kick out of how stupid it was! Charli XCX delivered some catchy songs with dancing that seemed a tad awkward. Overall, I'll give this episode a seven out of ten. It definitely isn't the greatest episode this season, but it's passable.

The Batman (2022)

MIND BLOWN!
2 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I went to go see "The Batman" early for the IMAX Fan First event and it just blew my mind! The best way I can describe it is that it was "The Dark Knight" Trilogy meets detective crime drama meets psychological horror movie. I love how everything connects too. The casting was perfect! Robert Pattinson was an awesome Batman and he and Zoë Kravitz had amazing chemistry together. Paul Dano's Riddler lit up the screen whenever he appeared and he was a great villain. Honestly, the most underrated part of this movie has to be Colin Farrell's Penguin. The makeup team did an amazing job with him and whenever he was onscreen, you couldn't see Colin Farrell, all you saw was Penguin. Jeffery Wright's Jim Gordon and Andy Serkis' Alfred were pretty good as well. The visuals are spectacular and I really do love the creative vision that Matt Reeves had for this movie. Also, the whole theater (myself included) freaked out when they teased Barry Keoghan as Joker near the end of the movie. The whole thing was just too good to put into words. And as shocking as this is, this might actually be better than "The Dark Knight", which before seeing this was my favorite movie of all time. I came into this movie with high expectations and it still somehow managed to exceed them!

No Gummo! Tango!
28 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This was the best so far this season! I deeply appreciated the cold open being a tribute to all the chaos going on in Ukraine. My favorite sketch was the "Monkey Trial" one. It was hysterical! The only bad thing was the musical guest. LCD Soundsystem was just plain awful! The lead singer sang like he was drunk, the band sounded like they were just playing random noises that didn't work together at all, and the songs were just straight up stupid! Overall, if you exclude LCD Soundsystem, it was an amazing show!

Huge Improvement From The Past Few Weeks
31 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I was beyond thrilled when it was announced that Willem Dafoe would be hosting with Katy Perry as the musical guest. Willem is a great actor and Katy Perry is one of my favorite singers of all time. Let me just say that neither of them disappointed! Willem was hilarious! My favorite sketch was probably "Office Song". I died laughing when Willem took that chair, started scream-singing, and just violently tossed it out the window. He did great. Katy Perry, as I previously mentioned, is one of my favorite singers of all time. I was raised listening to her music, so I've always had a soft spot for her music. For those who know Katy's style, you know that she is very extravagant and theatrical. I loved the excessive theming in both of her performances and her vocals definitely didn't disappoint either. Overall, this is a great episode and a huge step up from the past two episodes. Great job, Lorne Michaels!

This Was Just Embarrassing
24 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Much like everyone else, when it was announced that Paul Rudd would be hosting this week, I was beyond thrilled, but this is far from what I expected. Paul Rudd is one of the most hilarious people in Hollywood and his comedic talents were absolutely wasted in this sad and depressing excuse for a Christmas episode. This episode was so bad that I would have rather been watching the At Home version of "Saturday Night Live", and that's really saying something because I HATED the At Home episodes! Every sketch here is prerecorded. It is a mashup of a few new sketches and classic sketches. The new sketches are utter garbage. I think I can speak for everyone when I say that Paul Rudd deserved a better induction into the five timers club than this monstrosity!

Funny, But Not Laugh Out Loud Funny
24 January 2022
This episode was pretty good. The cast did a good job. Jonathan Majors was a good host, though his delivery was a bit stiff at times. There was nothing that really stuck out to me. It was funny, but it wasn't laugh out loud funny. Overall, it was just a good episode.

A Minor Step Up From Last Week
24 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Okay, this was a step up from last week, but it was a minor one at that. I get that Will Forte was there promoting the new TV show of "MacGruber", but I feel as if they ran that character into the ground this episode with three sketches centered around him. I was delighted to see the Queen Of "Saturday Night Live" herself, Kristen Wiig, make several cameos. My favorite sketch would have to be the one titled "Jackie & Clancy" because I'm from the south (so I hear a lot of country music) and I believe this sketch really summed up most country music pretty nicely. I despised the one called "Threesome" because I thought the premise of that was just stupid. Overall, I would say that this was a decent episode. It wasn't anything to write home about, but it was still had its enjoyable moments.

What Is Going On Right Now?
18 January 2022
Okay, so, I am so confused with what is going on this season on "Saturday Night Live". There have been a couple bad episodes and a couple of good episodes, but for the most part, Lorne Michaels and the gang keep pumping out the most mediocre stuff you can think of. They're pumping out so much mediocrity that it seems like that's become their new goal. This episode was far from great. You could tell Ariana DeBose was having a good time, but this episode wasn't very well executed. This may be an unpopular opinion, but I hated both performances by Bleachers. To me, they both sounded like you gave your kid your phone, they go on Garage Band, and then they just go to town. Overall, this was a very mediocre episode. Do better please!

The Return Of Kate McKinnon
13 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Coming into this episode, I wasn't expecting much. I was expecting something that wasn't as bad as Kim Kardashian or Elon Musk yet couldn't live up to the high bar that Simu Liu set during his hosting gig in the previous episode. For me, the only reason that this episode deserves to be rated as what I call decent is because Kate McKinnon made her grand return after being absent in all the previous episodes of the season while she was off shooting a Joe Exotic TV show. In my opinion, the best sketch was "Christmas Cards". Billie, as I expected, didn't do very well as the host. For the first time this season, I actually had to skip the musical performances because the strobe lighting that Billie was using almost made me have a seizure. I would also like to mention that I may be a tad bit biased because I have never been a big Billie Eilish fan. I don't like her singing and she has always rubbed me the wrong way in interviews, coming off as a rude and entitled person. Overall, the host/musical guest wasn't that good, but the cast did good as usual.

The Best Episode So Far
13 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Oh my goodness, Simu Liu has some comedy chops! His energy was electric and he lit up Studio 8H. My personal favorite sketch was "Karaoke All-Stars". I'm a sucker for bad karaoke performances. I also appreciate Chris Redd's inclusion of "Since U Been Gone" by my favorite singer Kelly Clarkson. Overall, a vast majority of the sketches were solid and Simu killed it!

Better Than The First One
12 November 2021
Okay, let me start out by saying that I didn't go in with low expectations. I was expecting a decent movie at best. This movie managed to exceed my expectations! I am apparently in the minority since I actually liked the first movie. Sure, the first one was a tad dull, but I still liked it. Now, this one just left me at the edge of my seat the whole way through! Much like the first movie, the CGI was phenomenal! The action for sure didn't disappoint. The set design was amazing. The movie was dark and gritty, but it definitely had its moments of heart and humor. Tom Hardy gave a good performance and Eddie Brock/Venom, but Woody Harrelson really stood out as Cletus Kasady/Carnage. I mean, who doesn't love a good villain?! He was deranged, charismatic, and just all-around fun to watch. My main complaint is just the sheer amount of language in this film! The writers must have the mouths of sailors! My other complaint was that I wasn't big on the character of Frances Barrison/Shriek, who was played by Naomie Harris. To me, she just felt like an attempt at the famous relationship of Joker and Harley Quinn. Also, She-Venom made a once again unnecessary return. This end of my review may sound like me just bashing the movie, but I'm really not trying to rip it to shreds. I am just showing what kept this movie from being a ten-star film in my eyes. Let me also add that the post-credits scene left me and the rest of the theater very excited!

James Austin Johnson Will Be A Star!
8 November 2021
At first, the only reason I recognized the name Kieran Culkin is because he's related to the "Home Alone" kid. Kieran was hilarious! His Jason Mraz impression was dead-on. Ed Sheeran delivered as always. Let me tell you something. James Austin Johnson was a HUGE standout. He may only be a featured player, but he's well on his way to being a star. His Trump impression in the cold open was unbelievable. He perfectly captured Trump's voice. This was a great episode!

8 November 2021
This episode was a HUGE improvement from its two predecessors! Rami Malek may be a great serious actor, but he brought some comedy chops! His Pete Davidson impression was also spot-on. I was too big on Young Thug's performance, but it was okay. I liked this episode.

No. Just No.
8 November 2021
This is like the female equivalent of the Elon Musk episode from last season. As expected, Kim's delivery was stiff as a pencil. The writing was abysmal. I wasn't too keen on Halsey's first song. I sort of liked Halsey's second song. That was about it. It was just bad and filled with cringe.

Something Was Missing
8 November 2021
I usually like Owen Wilson in things. He was great in "Loki"! Here, he was just meh. He wasn't bad, but he wasn't good either. The writing wasn't the best. I know this is an unpopular opinion, but there's just something about Kacey Musgraves' voice that aggravates me. I didn't like her performance. Overall, it was just an average and forgettable episode. Not a string start to the season.

I Was Expecting More
8 February 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I was pumped up for this halftime show. I had been watching numerous interviews of The Weeknd and of executive producers and they said that he would be all around the stadium. And boy, did that get my hopes up for something that could possibly even beat Katy Perry (she is my favorite halftime show performer). I expected The Weeknd performing all across Raymond James Stadium, and what I ended up getting was him performing on and inside this stage (and don't get me wrong, it was a cool stage) right next to one of the jumbotrons for a majority of the show and then singing "Blinding Lights" on the field at the end. I may sound like I'm trying to tear this thing apart, but I thought that it was good, just not as good as I expected. Still, it's not as bad as The Black Eyed Peas halftime show.
