Yancy Derringer: The Saga of Lonesome Jackson (1958)
That's a lot of money!
In the story, Mr. Lonesome Jackson says he's carrying $130,000 with him in order to find a bride. In 2023 money, that's the equivalent to about $2,750,000. That's quite a bit of money to be carrying on your person.
Early on in the story when Yancy and Pahoo are looking to go get something to eat, Yancy display's a coin and says it's his last $50. That would have been about $1,000 today. I think it would have bought them a pretty sizable dinner, if they had time for it. :)
Later in the show, Yancy needs a stake for a poker game and Mr. Colton takes $600 from his wallet (or $12,000 today).
With people carrying that kind of money around, it's no wonder that New Orleans had a problem with people being robbed.
Spy: Christmas Special: Codename - Show Stopper (2012)
Just a little warning for Roku viewers
If you are watching this series on Roku, just be aware that this episode is labeled as Season 2-0 and is listed as the 1st episode the season 2. This is actually one of the last episodes of the series as it wraps up the Portis storyline.
I watched it, then what was listed as 'Episode 1' of season 2 and realized they were out of order. Episode 1 takes place pretty much after the season 1 episode 6 so I you don't want to spoil the ending of the Portis story arc, then it's best if you save this until the end of Season 2.
I was enjoying the series and do realize it is several years old but it kind of spoiled the storyline to see Codename Show Stopper before watching any of Season 2.
Dragged Across Concrete (2018)
Waaaay to long!
I gave this movie a 5 but with a little editing, it could have been, at least, a 7. There are just too many unnecessary scenes that could have been edited down (or out) to give the file a better flow.
The example of the sandwich eating was previously mentioned but the entire portion of the mother/baby interaction could have been cut. That entire 'sub story' could have been told in a 15 second scene as the woman returns to her job in the bank.
Ridgeway listening to a song as his car is being towed should have been eliminated and either the daughter's bullying or the wife's MS could have been edited way down.
Dragged Across Concrete had a decent plot line but would have been a much more enjoyable if it was 45 -60 minutes shorter.
Space Force: The Chinese Delegation (2022)
Went on a little too long.
I enjoyed the episode. Dr. Adrian's feud with the Chinese scientist was entertaining enough, but the show should have ended after Naird and the Chinese General finished their meeting. Instead we were subjected to an additional 5 minutes that should have been left on the cutting room floor.
Another Life: What's Bourne / What's Left Behind (2021)
Really?
Apparently giant alien spaceships not only have 1 crew member but their flight controls are so easy to operate that other species can pilot them, fly them faster than light and land them with pinpoint accuracy on foreign planets.
I would expect this kind of plot design from a 1930's Flash Gordon serial.
Turning Red (2022)
I didn't care for it.
I found all the main characters to be very unlikeable. A moody 13 year old girl with a domineering mother and an overbearing grandmother. The story also relies heavily on some very Asian stereotypes.
To top it off, there is no real protagonist and the conflict only has to do with the typical teen/mother conflict.
Watch it if you like Pixar movies and are interested in the little Easter Eggs they throw in, but I didn't find it anywhere near as interesting as their previous movies.
