Charming and uniquely bizarre

A film about the life of a cocaine dealer during COVID shot during COVID is the type of story you never forget. I loved it. Funny, charming and uniquely bizarre.

"So what you are stating is that if I start using it...you will leave me alone?"

pretty darn good midnight movie
8 April 2020
Boy where to start?

The bottom line for me is that even though this film has its faults it made me laugh quite a bit, and at stuff I definitely hadn't seen before. The alcoholic war veteran being stuck in a bathroom with a clown that talks like Jar Jar Binks was a new one.

This is NOT a studio comedy, in fact I'd say its the exact opposite of that. Not so much set ups and punchlines as just raw....I don't know. Obscurity? Mayhem? This is a tough one to describe.

Is it about 20 minutes too long? Yes. Is the audio spectrum uneven? Yes. Is the plot pretty aimless? Yes. But are those not all qualities of good midnight movies?

In summation, I liked it. The first 30 minutes were pretty wild and uneven but once it hits its stride I really grew to enjoy the movies sense of humor. I didn't know two guys arguing over a bowl of cocaine was funny to me but hey, I guess it is.

It also added to the experience seeing this in a movie theater late at night (I think the screening I saw was at 10pm). Getting to see a crowds reaction to a movie like this was half of the fun. Would definitely go to a screening again.

Wicked World (1991)

Highly Recommend
29 December 2019
Like many I have been a fan of THINGS for years and when I saw that another movie Barry J Gillis was involved in (written and directed in this case) was getting a re-release I was very excited.

I had never seen or heard of Wicked World until recently and since THINGS is so iconic and culty I was not sure what to expect from this mystery film. I'm happy to say it did not disappoint. This movie is truly one of a kind and no doubt has much of the same magic and creativity that made THINGS such a hit while at the same time shows a more mature and experienced filmmaker.

I've been showing cult horror movies to my girlfriend for years now and this has easily been one of her favorites. Wicked World will be in my library for years to come. I highly recommend this movie

A CULT CLASSIC

In blending about seven different genres, to this day this is one of the most ambitious projects I have ever seen. I get it's not for everybody but Ben & Arthur has kept me entertained for years. I love Sam Mraovich and I know that his film will ALWAYS be able to find an audience.

A TRUE ONE OF A KIND
28 November 2019
THINGS is the definition of lightning in a bottle, a masterclass of jumbled editing, loud noises and Canadians drinking beer. There is nothing like it. This movie has been a major part of my life since college and it isn't going anywhere anytime soon. Best viewed with a large group of friends

Barry J Gillis and Andrew Jordan will live forever through their wondrous fever dream of a film and boy do they ever deserve it. An easy 9/10.
