Skyline (2010)
Was going along pretty good
The trailer had me going and I really wanted to see this. I didn't get to see it at the theater but waited till it was on SyFy. The invaders left a lot to be desired. If you're gonna create a legion of brain sucking things from who knows where how about a little background? Where did they come from? Why did they pick this planet? Who was in charge? What was the point? Did it have something to do with hybrids? That was the the only idea That the awful ending left me thinking. I wanted to smack the crap out of whoever left it hanging like that. Is there a sequel? I'm writing this in 2014 so if there is I haven't heard . This could have been good but my first thought watching it was the recent War of the Worlds but with no substance, no reason, no explanation and not the greatest cast or dialog. I love movies like this when they are done well and leave you wanting it to last longer. I got thru the whole thing but was totally upset at the end.
Stay (2005)
The girls
This isn't so much a review as it is a question. Twice during the movie there were two girls walking together wearing the same coat. Once coming out of the art lecture and once getting out of a cab. Possibly twins, but I didn't get a good look at their faces. Anyone have any ideas what that was about? I did like this movie a lot, Naomi Watts is always great in whatever she does. I will probably get the DVD since the only time I watched it was on TV and if there's a director commentary on the DVD maybe that will answer my question. But in the meantime if anyone knows what if anything the "twins" were about let me know.
This movie reminded me of Jacobs Ladder.
Evil Behind You (2006)
Not a horror film
I watched this on Hulu yesterday and did stick with it to the end. The film is misrepresented as horror as far as I'm concerned. This was more like the type of film you'd see on a Christian TV station since the message is more about where your soul ends up after death. It was made with production company of mostly first timers and based on that I have to give them credit for doing better than many "professional" Hollywood productions I have seen. Remember "Battlefield Earth"? I wanted to gouge my eyes out after 10 minutes of that abomination. I did think some of the acting was OK. The Dr., Lisa and David characters had some good moments. Lighting, sound and cinematography were impressive for a first time effort. The special effects should have been left out. If you are a true horror fan you will be disappointed. If you prefer the type of Christian films that deal with end times, mark of the beast, etc you'll probably like this.
