Still funny 35 years kater
3 July 2023
I First saw this when I was 13 with my dad. We also used to watch the original Police Squad TV show on video. I Watched Naked Gun tonight with my 14-year-old son, who has apparently inherited my sense of humor. We both cackled all the way through it. My wife even laughed a few times (and she hates parodies). I had to explain some of the geopolitical references from '88 but it still holds up today. My son also didn't seem to understand the irony of OJ Simpson being Nordberg, but he did point out that Kareem Abdul Jabar was in Airplane. We just watched Airplane last week. What should we see next?

Better than a lot of these reviews say
1 July 2020
Obviously not as good as the first. But it does have a ton of stars and some great lines. My kids loved it.

Cheesy, but good
31 August 2008
I'm flipping channels this afternoon and my wife goes, "OMG, is that Nick Nolte? And that looks like Don Johnson." We watched it for a while. It was pretty good. The plot synopsis on this site is spot on. I liken it to a racier version of the Dukes of Hazard (one is even named BO) before the Dukes were TV staples. As a Georgia native I made the comment to my wife, Man that looks like home! I was thrilled when I saw the title and I can verify those are some 2-lane Macon roads for sure. It was an indie film and it has that kind of indie feel to it. Worth 2 hours of your time on a lazy Sunday afternoon if you've already cleaned the house and done your yard work.

One of the best music biopics ever
4 June 2006
This is an incredible movie and one of the best music biopics ever. I was already a fan of Charlie Parkers music and I think that helps when it comes to appreciating this film. But, Forrest Whitaker's performance is incredible as are all of the others who so accurately portray the real life musicians of the film. If there is one detractor in the movie, it is the fact that there are a lot of flash backs and flash forwards and at times it can be a little hard to follow. I didn't get everything until I saw it the second or third time. Highly recommended. If you liked Coal Miners Daughter, Ray or Walk the Line or if you are a fan of jazz music, you will love Bird.
