The plot feels a bit muddled up until the final act. However the movie does explain some plot holes while creating others.
The way they built up the characters felt better than both the previous movies and it felt like there was real conflict in the characters. Finn was constantly being left behind by Rey but still followed her up until the end where he himself went alone and let the troops escape. Poe's past was more looked into and before entering the final act we saw him moaning the death of Leia before leading the Resistance into battle as valiently as she would. Rey and Kylo were the most interesting. There characters were almost intwined. They would always speak with Kylo pushing Rey towards the dark side. It all came to a head after Rey nearly kills Kylo and he realises what he's done is wrong. He then has a final chat with his father before coming to save Rey from the Emporor. The conflict of Rey is from the dark side pulling at her. And at the end when the Emperor (her grandfather) gives her a chance to kill him, save her friends and become a Sith. With Kylos help she rejects him and gathers the strength to kill him. Then we see the conclusion of Kylos character as he gives his own life for Rey's completing his ark. Rey's ark finishes on Tatooine as she accepts herself as a Skywalker.
The action in the movie is great. But by the end of the movie there are still a few unanswered questions.
My main issue is the frequency of the movie tricking the audience giving the illusion that a fan favourite character is dead.
