Baby Reindeer (2024)
Binged in one night
I had no idea what to expect with this show, it just popped up on my Netflix recommended and I decided to give it a go and was captivated from ep.1. Without giving too much away Baby Reindeer tells the true story of a man and the woman who stalks him but it's so much more. It a brutally honest version of two very broken individuals, one who is destructive to others and one who is hell bent on self distructing and how they form a bizarre and thoroughly toxic connection. The vulnerability it took to make this show is praise worthy and it was done with such elegance and rawness. It's not an easy watch by any stretch and it's disturbing at times but if you are willing to sit through the brutality, there is a breathtaking beauty in this show rooted in the honesty it's told with.
One Day (2024)
IMMENSELY BORING. NOTHING HAPPENS!
I strongly believe the rating over this series is from bots. There was no chemistry between them WHATSOEVER. Nothing was happening during 12 episodes. The girl was the worst. Unattractive, miserable, rude and boring. They didn't match as a couple and their lives couldn't possibly be more boring. I was just curious how this was going to end and i wasted my life on it. The end was also disappointing. Even the death of Emma was boring. And then nothing happened. Dexter was sad. The end. Didn't even spill a single tear. Propably continued watching it from curiosity and because Dexter was hot. Zero out of ten.
Animal (2023)
Give it a rest with all the negativity 🙄
People are so Butthurt over a movie that was always intended to have a deliberate violent plot. Ranbir is an excellent actor! Really liked this movie because theres nothing been worth watching in Bollywood for a long while. Ranbir portrays the darkness that people have within them very well and this just showcases what a person can be capable of (dramatised bollywood sytle). Never watched Rashmika before but really liked her. She nailed it. Anil Kapoor and all the other actors did a fantastic job. Bobby Deol smashed it too! He most definitely suits the villian role better than the romantic hero. The direction is next level and it really brings the movie to life. The second half took a weird direction for a while but then it came back together. The movie is a blockbuster and I personally would watch it again. Its entertainment people, not real life.
Run Rabbit Run (2023)
Absolutely nothing happens!
The film has no point. It has no reason for the audience to be invested. There are no stakes. You could say we are supposed to be curious about the explanation to what is going on, but the film isn't exactly subtle. We have the gist of what is happening, we just need some minor details filled in. It isn't enough.
But if you're in the mood for 100 minutes of a mother and daughter screaming at each other then this might just be the film for you. However, if you're like me and that sounds like the worst thing in the world, then chances are you'll detest watching this one as much as I did. Rubbish!
Happy Valley (2014)
Brilliant bit of telly!
This was recommended to me by some mates at work so thought id give it a bash and ive been binge watching it every night with whatever time i have left of my day. Its brilliant! Its funny, it's thrilling, its full of suspense and the story line is next to none. Its been ages since ive watched something that left me wanting to watch the next episode, and the next! Being a Yorkshire lass myself, its even more interesting because its based in my neck of woods. Catherine is an awesome character. Extremely likeable and admirable. Tommy as the villain does not disappoint either. Hope the seasons keep on coming!
Nacido en Gaza (2014)
Heartbreaking
The plight of Palestinians has never been shown as real as this. I found it to be an extremely difficult watch and the suffering of the children and the innocent families was unbearable. They were regular people with regular dreams and children who aspired to be teachers, farmers, fisherman, doctors etc whos lives, livelihoods, homes and relatives were snatched away by the evil and most despicable acts of the Israelis. These children may never see Justice in this world but God will hold those responsible accountable and i pray these children maintain faith, strength, honour and dignity if they manage to survive the brutality of the zionists. Glad to see this on Netflix and i hope everyone watches it. Enough already. The world needs to wake up and free Gaza!!
RRR (Rise Roar Revolt) (2022)
Ram Charan where have you been
I selected this movie off Netflix out of pure random choice. I wanted to watch an indian film but wasnt aware of anything worthy that i havnt already seen so just went ahead and pressed play.
My eyes were glued to the screen from the get go. It was incredibly made and hats off to the actors, especially Ram Charan. He was amazing and played his role to perfection. Finally some new talent on the indian screen!
Granted, some effects and stunts were soo over the top i rolled my eyes and laughed at some of them but it didnt take away from the entertainment. Great work!
Persuasion (2022)
Get off my recommendations
Why on earth this has been showing as number 1 on my netflix is unbelievable. It was soooo incredibly boring and pointless with no real story line to follow or be interested in. Its meant to be an adaptation to a classic book but it has not done it any justice what so ever! FAIL FAIL FAIL.
Gangubai Kathiawadi (2022)
Never paid attention to this actress till now!
Alia Bhat really smashed it! Her acting was incredible, up until now i only viewed her as a naive, young and innocent actress who played mediocre rolls but she totally stole the show on this one. The character was played superbly and the film, the directing, the cinematics was very, very well made! A harsh reality for a lot of women in India and a real eye opener into the sadness of their situation.
Bridgerton (2020)
Don't see the fuss
Nothing about this show makes sense and it does nothing to address the obvious issues. Its a funny fantasy world but nobody should refer to this as a "period drama" as it is a complete alternate universe where race doesn't seem to exist or be acknowledged, nor are any of the characters enduring. Waste of time and bears no historical reference whatsoever.
Cobra Kai: No Mercy (2019)
Awesome watch
Entertainment at its best! This episode is thrilling and full of suspense. My heart breaks for Johnny and he is becoming the most admirable character. Larusso is getting pretty irritating and provokes Johnny more than is reasonable given their history and all that. The fight scene was exaggerated but its television for gods sake! So buckle up and enjoy.
Cobra Kai (2018)
Love it!!
Trip down memory lane with the flashbacks of the original characters from Karate Kid but awesome to see them together on screen again. Johnny Lawrence is by the far the most entertaining and makes me laugh a lot! I binged watched the entire thing and would watch it again.
Downton Abbey: Episode #3.5 (2012)
Most emotional episode yet
Been binge watching this since season 1 and this episode totally broke my heart. Poor Sybil's life in the hands of 2 doctors too busy ego measuring. Absolute class acting as usual and a real tear jerker at that!
Friends: The One Where Everybody Finds Out (1999)
Brilliance of Phoebe
This episode cracks me up every single time and credit goes to Phoebe, shes hilarious! The story of Ross trying to obtain the new apartment ties in very nicely.
Good Girls (2018)
Find something better
We're broke, lets go steal, now we're rich.
We're broke again, lets go steal, now we're rich.
Oh look we're broke again, lets go steal, now we're rich.
There.
I summed up the entire series for you so you can spend your time doing something more worthwhile.
You (2018)
Lost its spark
First season was intriguing, surprising and kept
You wanting more. There was a real story being told with a background to match. Second season was also great with lots of twists and turns and further developments in the story.
The third season however is a big let down. It feels like they didnt know how to continue the story so just turned it into watching 2 psychopaths randomly kill people and then try to cover it up. The voiceover was also tiring by this point and all the weird sex stuff was just typical pointless nonsense to try to make a dieing series more appealing but it just came off as tawdry and boring.
Ojing-eo geim (2021)
Brutally brilliant
Im soo glad i watched this before all the hype started because shows are always ruined by hype and spoilers. Being completely new to korean telly, i was shockingly surprised by the story line, the drama, the acting, the cinematics and the entire shabang! Its the best series i have seen in a very very long time but i do feel it will be a one hit wonder. A season 2 just wont be able to match up to the buzz & excitement surrounding Season 1.
Daniel Sloss: Live Shows (2018)
Awful
I barely cracked a smile through any of his routine. It started off decent in Dark but then got really boring and Jigsaw was more of a rambling lecture than a comedy act. I was waiting for it to get funny but it never did so switched off.
You vs. Wild (2019)
Party poopers
I dont get the bad reviews from the critical haters. This programme is excellent for a family watch with young children. Exciting, thrilling, educational and engaging. Well done to the producers and Bear for coming up with something new and innovative.
Friends: The One Where Dr. Ramoray Dies (1996)
Bit weird in parts
Funny episode and doesn't disappoint but the scene with Monica and Ross both wanting to have sex with their partners in rooms next to each other was uncomfortable to watch. I know siblings can be close but this was just weird.
Yedinci Kogustaki Mucize (2019)
Most emotional movie i have ever seen
This movie had me crying like a baby practically the whole way through so do not watch it with people you are not comfortable crying with! Very heart touching and heart wrenching in places but the best movie i have ever seen. Highly recommend!
Superstore (2015)
So funny and puts you in a good mood!
I love this season and im so glad it came onto Netflix otherwise i wouldn't know it existed. Ive watched the entire series twice now because its a bit like friends where you can watch it again and again and it still makes you laugh. The only downside i found was that the chemistry between Jonah and Amy was not good, nor believable and it only got worse once they became an actual couple. It was fun to start with and then went totally downhill, there was no scenes that showed any affection or emotional connection between the pair. They were just friends who argued most of the time. Its almost like they were forced to be together.
Also, there was no need for all those covid masks in the later season. People were or had seen all that in real life, they dont want it on their telly's as well! Especially for a sitcom that supposed to entertain and lighten the mood. Was annoying not being able to see peoples facial expressions.
Dangal (2016)
Pure Brilliance
This movie is the best movie i have seen in a very, very long time! In fact it's probably the best Indian movie ever made. Groundbreaking storyline with awesome acting and characters. A must watch, you will not regret tuning in.
Happy New Year (2014)
Cool movie
I dont get all the bad reviews. I enjoyed it, was an entertaining watch!
Zero (2018)
Weird as hell
I didnt even make it through the first hour. Watching able bodied people acting disabled was a very uncomfortable watch and i love srk but even he couldnt convince me to watch anymore.... WEIRDEST MOVIE EVER.
