Solaris (2002)
Perfect
I love this film. It gives you time to think and feel. The planet Solaris provides a different experience for each crew member and the film Solaris does the same for audience members, drawing on your emotions and experience. Incredible. You need to focus on the film from the start. If you have a short attention span or limited life experience it's not for you. It's not for everyone.
No Time to Die (2021)
It's time to put you out of my misery.
The writers have provided all the plot spoilers you could want. Rather than looking for a new actor to play Bond they need to find a really good writer. Daniel Craig's performance was good but the rest of the cast were poor but they had little to work with. Implausible plot and villain. Awful.
Paddington 2 (2017)
A perfect film
It's very rare to watch a film that that doesn't disappoint. This is pure movie making magic with heart, characters, story, humour, amazing performances all round.
A Rainy Day in New York (2019)
Ok
It was ok, but the lead actor was out of his depth. Some great lines. Just a shame Allen and Farrow are too old to play these roles... And other things.
Just watched this film again. Timothee Chalamet is just awful, unbelievably bad - he speaks the lines with not a hint of any acting ability and he looks so uncomfortable around the female characters, like he'd never held hands with a woman let alone anything else, painful to watch. The film needed an older or more mature actor.
Tenet (2020)
Who Cares?
It was a good Twilight Zone style idea stretched into a film. Didn't care for any of the 2D characters and frankly any algorithm that would end this creation would have been a blessed relief. Clever action sequences don't mean anything without a story and characters that engage you.
Mad Max: Fury Road (2015)
Oh dear
Utter garbage. No plot spoilers because there is no plot. Why is this film so highly regarded? Production design and stunts are great but this doesn't make it a great film. Sad
The Day Shall Come (2019)
Silly clever? No, just silly.
I really wanted to like this film, but it's not as clever as it thinks it is, it's just too silly.
The Goldfinch (2019)
Solid Film
Great movie well acted, interesting characters, seamlessly woven timelines. Critics have got it wrong again.
John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum (2019)
John Sick?
Just violence with no plot and little humour. It's a sad reflection on society that such rubbish is so well received. I'm no Mary Whitehouse and was raised on Joel Silver and Luc Benson movies, but where as they had humour, heart and plots, this had nothing to offer. Oh dear.
