Derry Girls: The Reunion (2022)
What a dreadful shame
Absolutely love this show, but season 3 has been weaker than the previous 2 seasons. This episode was a waste of my time. Watching with the family and we all agreed to stop watching just after halfway. Fingers crossed for a strong finish. The series deserves it.
Star Trek: Picard (2020)
Dull!
Managed 4 episodes, waiting for something exciting or interesting to happen. Started the 5th and just couldn't keep watching. Boring, Boring, Boring! Honestly, don't bother.
Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker (2019)
Great save by JJ
I was so worried for the first 30 minutes. It seemed cluttered and complex, but then it just got brilliant. It gave us the story of Jedi vs Sith, good vs evil. This has always been the fantasy story that Star Wars gave us 40 years ago. Rian Johnson's treatment of our beloved characters (including the new ones) in Episode VIII was dreadful. JJ Abrams has rescued them in this movie and given them the legacies they deserve. Many of the critic reviews vilify JJ for "pandering to the fanbase". I commend and thank him for recognising that it is the Star Wars fans that have made this saga more than just a series of movies. The Rise of Skywalker is not without flaws, but it fixes the stain created by VIII and is bloody good fun. If you enjoyed Episode VII, I'm pretty sure you'll like Rise of Skywalker. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Thanks JJ. Great save mate!
Game of Thrones: The Iron Throne (2019)
Great story telling
I feel that the final season needs some defence from the negative reviews. Firstly, I didn't enjoy the final season as much as the previous season, but, we were always leading towards a series conclusion rather than more build up.
Dany's descent into madness was inevitable. It was sad to see as we all loved her character. The integrity of the story telling was there, along with the steady depiction of her path to madness made more inevitable by the deaths of those she loved.
I always believed that the Iron Throne would no longer be a seat of inherited power, and that Tyrion's purpose was always to facilitate this. I didn't pick Bran as the new "King", but I loved that development. Jon, Arya and Sansa were given happy endings and our favourite characters all found good conclusions. The writers were always going to polarise people. I think they did great job in finishing the telling of this story. I'm dying to see what is "West of Westeros".
