A surprise out of nowhere, well done !!!!

Warning: Spoilers
I just randomly came across Lupt on Netflix. Watched the trailer and started watching with no expectation thinking this is another regular horror movie in Bollywood Well it surprised me!! The cast was downright incredible, the story was good !! It was not the typical run of the mill movies we often watch. I've always liked stories about people trapped in cars in the dead of night and in Lupt the family stuck on road seems real. In the car is the mother, father, son, daughter and the daughter's boyfriend. The father decides to take a shortcut, which takes them on a seemingly endless road in the middle of a forest. Lupt is a very claustrophobic and intense horror. The film has a dark and creepy feel throughout, the dialogue is sharp and witty, and the creative direction sustains the suspense throughout.

First time actor Jaaved Jaaferi plays the character of father. The acting was very realistic. He has the perfect look of terror on his face and delivers his lines with conviction.

Niki walia is brilliant and shocking at times and her motherly performance makes her gradual insanity all the more disturbing. Rishab Chadha plays their son. Rishab is the mischievous teenager. Incredibly sarcastic, rude, ignorant and cool at all times also he is the comic relief of the film. He just plays the role to the fullest and this is without a doubt his best role to date having seen him in Drishyam playing Tabu's son and now on web series. Meenakshi Dixt as daughter of Jaaved Jaaferi justifies her role. Karan Aanand plays Meenakshi's boyfriend and he doesn't perform well he's not effective and they don't look good together. Child actor Kierra is absolutely good in her performance. She is adorable and cute. She is woods reciting happy birthday is creepy. Lupt plays on the psychology horror...what you think is happening...isolation, being stuck in a never-ending cycle of death. What I liked most is the part of Vijay Raaz on the road and the manner in which he delivers his lines. I wanted to see more of Vijay Raaz in the film. The writers gave the cast great lines I must say.

If I could say negative things about this movie is that character of Karan Aanand and certain places background music little loud and VFX is not that great. However, when the film itself is so good, one could forgive few flaws in the movie. This movie is slow in parts, however it needed to be. If you don't like slow movies, this might not be for you. Overall though, this is a very creepy and atmospheric family horror movie. 7/10

The Shape of Water is Guillermo Del Toro's latest film in which a mute woman falls for a creature. Sally Hawkins delivers a great performance along with Octavia Spencer in this Best Picture winner.
