So much fun
18 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
We enjoyed it this quite a bit. If you enjoy Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series, I think you'll enjoy this. I could see similarities between Loretta and Stephanie Plum throughout. Lighthearted fun in many ways, endearing clumsy sincerity, inept at times action and lots of warmth and character growth. Beth reminded me of Lula in her loyalty and ingenuity and voluptuousness. So Very enjoyable. And lots of relatable moments showing fish out of water gaffes. Channing Tatum was lovably sincere. Sandra Bullock relatably lost and insecure but gaining confidence and certitude as she came out of her shell of grief.

Very funny

Warning: Spoilers
I've always liked Leslie man and she played such a quirky person in this. And a little bit eccentric as well. Especially if she was drinking she got very very very very eccentric. Spoiler alert Cameron Diaz was very likable in this as well with great self-control. This movie was a lot like a combination of first wives, club and dumb and dumber.

Very funny and very unique. And the third character was a very sweet kid who is not a bad person at all. That is refreshing. No mean girls.

Just really quirky very character. Driven a little cringe worthy but overall I enjoyed it. Without my kids present.

One of the weirder ones

Warning: Spoilers
SPOILER S:

It's a little creepy because it's like a pre-crime. Not to mention the jazz player down on his luck and homeless might be down and homeless because people like Lisbon had bootleg copies of his music which means he never got a dime for it. Which she admitted when she met him.

It was fun because it is always fun to see Cho undercover. We got to meet Luther Wainwright, who is always a nice character, if a little out of his league with this crew. It was a little bit uncomfortable, watching Patrick try to smooth like a tough guy, since he typically is anything but. Overall, it was an interesting episode and worth watching.

I stuck with it until halfway in and it's just too implausible and ridiculously stupid. I wanted to like this movie as I like the actors. It's just too, too lame 😏

It's quite interesting to watch. Other reviewers covered it well. On a different note: Anna Sofaer sounds just like Sigourney Weaver.

Excellent movie
10 January 2019
This was such a good movie. AS WITH ALL MOVIES BASED ON BOOKS, separate the two in your mind. Realistically not very likely that a movie can ever do a book scene by scene justice.

I'm glad to own this movie and have watched it several times.

I read many books that have later been made into movies and it's just a separate category entirely.

This movie taken on it's own merit, separate from book comparisons, is well worth it.

What a terrible example. She was so outlandishly offensive and off base. She owes Mrs. Lowe an apology. I've encountered these types and don't give them air time, please.if I rated the episode based on her it'd be a -5.

Warning: Spoilers
My family loves this movie. It has so much good humor and many, many references to other classics that just make one pay attention, much as one has to do with The Princess Bride.

Many hilarious moments and Chon's sister kicking the Ripper's butt is one of my personal favorites.

Worth buying.

I very much wish Jackie Chan and Owen Wilson kept making this series.

Surprisingly good

Warning: Spoilers
This is probably the best done remake of this particular series with this Miss Marple. It was nicely done with sympathetic characters and finally Miss Marple seemed more like Miss Marple instead of a spoof of her.

It was not too terribly different from the classic version with Joan Hickson, although I did not like how pathetic they made Gerry.

Very viewable.

Warning: Spoilers
It is originally a very cruel plot and story line. That aside, it was well acted by the characters introduced for the story to take place, however not by the returning characters playing Miss Marple and Mrs. Bantry. Very much overacted.

The drunken movie producer, however, was hilarious and entertaining. He's what raised my rating from 1.5.

Warning: Spoilers
I do love Agatha Christie and read her often. There are times in her stories where great cruelty toward the most vulnerable take place. This is one of those stories. I don't care for the plot at all, though it was very clever and very well done.

So if you want a story line where only the monsters and creeps reap what they have sown, this is not that kind of story.

Warning: Spoilers
I don't believe there are any spoilers. I enjoyed this one. It was easy to have compassion for the varying characters and their situations. Miss Marple was as observant and as keyed in to the actual situation as ever.

I've seen this one often and will again.

Watched many times
4 August 2017
I really enjoyed this one a lot. I've seen it many times prior to buying it. It was sweetly romantic and the suave, deceptive nature of the actual murderer was chilling.

It was so true to village life, observant and nosy neighbors (we all have people like that in our lives) and so many other things well represented.

Worth buying.

Much better version of Miss Marple
4 August 2017
This actress is a very good actress and this story line was well done. It didn't feel so contrived and idiotic as the previous remakes had done.

It had a good flow and involved very good development and twists to the story line. It's not so bad also when really awful people are the ones that die. That's always a bonus.

Tolerable
4 August 2017
This is the only tolerable version of this version of Miss Marple I've seen. It wasn't as overacted and bizarrely done as the others. It is still the wrong actress. Miss Marple was NOT this woman. Not even by a long chalk. However, in this version she isn't written to ridicule and spoof as much as the other south of mediocre versions of redoing the brilliant Joan Hickson, who is the only true Miss Marple I've seen.

Terrible and ridiculous
4 August 2017
I have to wonder why on earth an otherwise reputable production company would pervert this series as abominably as they have with the Twinkle Face approach and bizarre story lines and adding so much ludicrous overacting and underdevelopment.

Don't waste your time unless you want to see an excellent book and original version with Joan Hickson parodied and ridiculed.

These particular authors and the wrong actress have made themselves absolutely irrelevant.

This was such a good movie. So very beautifully filmed and shot. Joan Hickson is brilliant as Miss Marple so much so that when I read the books now, which I've read many times before, it's Miss Hickson in my mind as I am reading. She is amazing.

This was such an engrossing movie that I watched it without any boredom and thoroughly enjoyed myself. It doesn't rush the story line or add foolish characters or little pathetic jokes as the remake does.

Definitely worth seeing and adding to your collection.

Okay
2 August 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Through no fault of the actors, this was yet again a poor remake of the excellent original starring Joan Hickson, who played Miss Marple as written by Dame Christie.

Julia McKenzie is a fine actress and certainly more believable than the middling actress who played her so poorly and made a spoof of her.

The writing is very much at fault in these remakes. It's trying TOO HARD to be clever and different at the expense of an already good story line. I found myself waiting for it to be done with so I could turn it off instead of enjoying it. Shame on the network for not truly appreciating Agatha Christie's simple genius of Miss Marple.

I'm sticking with the original series. Joan Hickson was the only TRUE Miss Marple thus far that I've seen.

Excellent movie
25 July 2011
This was such a kindly done movie and I prefer these older movies for my children as the new ones dazzle, but lose the story all too often.

It is charming, well written, well acted, etc... and worth renting and then buying to add to your home collection.

This version may not have the bells and whistles someone with no attention span or imagination prefers, but it delivers this classical story beautifully and my youngest, 7, loves it too.

I'd encourage everyone to look into the older versions so their kids learn to think and not believe that all things worth spending time on have to be all shiny and new.

I liked the beginning and the end
17 April 2011
Warning: Spoilers
but I have to say the middle just left me cold. It didn't have quite the heart the first two had.

Since this IMDb requires more lines of text, then this is the filler for so many lines of text in order for this to publish, as this is really all I have to say about this movie.

And I do think Pixar is simply the best and I'm grateful how they continually provide movies that families with solid values to see together.

Back to this verbose movie review: the thoroughly good person Andy grew up to be and that they showed in the ending was very, very heartwarming and hopefully gives boys something to aspire to.

Father of the Pride (2004–2005)
One of the best shows ever on TV
14 April 2006
This was truly entertaining and humorous. There was only one episode I wouldn't watch due to content, but all in all, hilarious and I was disappointed when it wasn't renewed. With so many shows main characters getting mega-bucks per episode, by Hollywood standards, surely this wasn't too expensive, just under-promoted. It was original, tongue-in-cheek, subtle at times, and very compassionate and yet ironic at the same time. How many shows can do that?

I wish NBC would renew it. Too many truly innovative and entertaining shows are not allowed to find their feet let alone their audience before someone with more power than wit cancels it. I want my FATHER OF THE PRIDE back!
