Crime (2021)
Crime thrillers don't get much better than this.
Scandi thrillers have dominated TV for over a decade now and with good reason. British TV crime writers normally don't have what it takes to hold attention and lean toward happy endings and predictable story lines. So much of British dramas has all been done before so how refreshing to catch this on a 2nd level ITV station. I downloaded all episodes to binge, downside, there are no sub-titles options. Dougray Scott should have received a top award for his portrayal of the obsessive detective attempting to get through each day with his own demons. Every actor was superb. Yes there are sub-plots but that is life and they were handled so well, from the company abuse of a young worker to the break-up of his parents long marriage. Congratulations to everyone involved and bring on the next series.

Boring people
Agree with one review there is far too much talking... about nothing. Series started with intrigue then ground down to a slow pace of pretty much boring dialogue. Did any one pick up on the on-line purchase note? On-line are you kidding? What, Amazon can get in and out but no-one else can. And why doesn't anyone do any WORK? Where did mother Chinese get all her food to feed a town everyday. Everyone just hung around playing ball or talking... And why didn't any of the women tie their damn hair back? Even digging a hole in the cellar as big as a house her hair was still flopping about . I too checked the episode run thinking there must be another. What happened? Did they all die? Shame as it started quite well.
Life and Death in the Warehouse (2022)
This is the price we pay for.....
....online shopping. These companies are too big and powerful to control. If staff refused to endure these conditions they would have to come in line with every other British company. But that is NEVER going to happen.
The Seven-Ups (1973)
70s NYPD raw thriller
How refreshing to watch a movie with no mobile phones. I wonder how movies were made int the good old days without phones ringing in pockets every two minutes and ' I have to get this' quoted constantly. I digress, this movie is a slow burner with quiet commaraderie within a small band of cops chasing down the bad guys. With Roy Snyder in the main roll expect nothing less than a great movie. An under rated star if ever there was one. With a mean top class car chase which matches anything with our Steve what's not to like?
City on a Hill (2019)
From an English viewer living in rural Wales UK......
.....you cannot fault this show (apart from a little too much use of the F word). I think we all know how to curse and I'm sure they don't do more of it in Boston than anywhere else. The second series is now showing here and I watched the whole of the first to get up to speed. The acting is top notch and Kevin Bacon is a force to be reckoned with. Recently here we only ever see him on mobile phone network commercials so to see this seedy, uncouth, chauvinist, bigoted sexist is an absolute joy and that's from a female. The entire character ensemble is terrific. They are varied and unpredictable especially the females. If you haven't watched it yet get moving there is very little on TV these days that come close.
Your Honor (2020)
Bryan Cranson makes a bad decision
Like others I was frustrated from the start. Completely empty streets where a horrific road accident has just occurred where only moments earlier the boy was surrounded by intimidating guys appearing from nowhere. Crawling along the road covered in blood in broad daylight and not a vehicle to be seen... in New Orleans! Only to be followed by further nonsense of a well respected judge desperately trying to protect his 'boy' from the rules of law which we assume he upholds in his profession. Why is his son hellbent on destroying his father's efforts? If his has a conscience 'give yourself up'. And where were all the boaters when he was disposing of a blood covered body, again in broad daylight. Does everyone stays indoors during daylight hours in New Orleans? On a lighter point does the daughter of the biggest criminal in New Orleans not have any clothes? Apart from looking like a 25 yr old she wears her school uniform continually, knee length socks really?? I am on episode 6 and still with it but we are in lockdown here in Wales United Kingdom.
Devils (2020)
Not an advisable watch if you have lost a bundle in any recent crash
This is a well made financial 'fictional' tale with definite factual overtones accompanied by actual news footage. There's an intriguing back story which keeps giving and the characters are pretty much all despicable. If you can keep up with the fast-paced dialogue it makes for an enlightened look into the sleezy world of high finance. To catch Massimo's lines you will definitely need the sub-titles. But well worth a binge-watch.
The Predator (2018)
Two hours of my life I'll never get back!!!!
Bought this on Sky Movies hoping for at least a close second to the original. So glad it cost not much more than the price of a bag of chips for two. How do Hollywood moguls justify releasing crap like this. Less than half way through, my partner picked up a crossword puzzle and I scanned the movie reviews which I now know I should have done before purchasing. Avoid at all costs. We ended up watching a gangster movie form the 70's, Michael Caine in Get Carter. Now that is worth more than a bag of chips.
