2000's sci-fi cult classic returns...so thankful
16 March 2024
If you were one of those who eagerly waited for new episodes of this offbeat, engrossing Saturday morning tv series during its original run in the early 2000's on NBC, the idea that it actually came back after being off the radar for so many years is a small sort of miracle. This series takes chances. It introduces new characters and tells stories in a lot of different ways. But it also stays true to the spirit of the original series without attempting the impossible task of replicating it. And when the characters we grew to love watching this show start to return, that's just a pure nostalgic delight. Welcome back and please keep going.

A classic for a reason
29 February 2024
Maybe you have to be of a certain age and have grown up in the 70's to truly appreciate this show, but there is a reason it has resonated so strongly for fifty-plus years now. It is television comfort food of the highest order where relatively trivial family squabbles and adolescent struggles are treated with sincerity and a healthy dose of humor. The child actors are truly remarkable, with Maureen McCormick standing out for her ability to carry the emotional weight of some of the series most dramatic moments and episodes. Mike Lookinland excels as well, regularly providing spot-on humor and real-kid reactions in heavier scenes. And Ann B. Davis is an under-appreciated comedic genius, always a delight to watch. Seasons 3 & 4 are "peak Brady Bunch" but every season offers memorable episodes that play as well today as when they first premiered. A classic.

Starts slow finishes very strong!

I was really on the fence with this show until the 3rd & 4th episode. Intrigued enough to keep watching and I kept telling myself...if they make it all connect and make sense, I'll be amazed and thrilled with the outcome. Well I was amazed and thrilled with the outcome. Really brave storytelling to have Wanda's world slowly unravel the way it does. It requires a lot of patience from the audience, but have the patience. It pays off in an immensely satisfying way. Elizabeth Olsen is quite simply spectacular in this role. Complex yet sympathetic, you're rooting for her so much. It's an absolute shame what they did with Scarlet Witch in the Dr. Strange movie. Ruins what was the beautiful character development of Wanda, but that aside, this piece is an absolute standout entry in the MCU.

The best

Quite simply one of the greatest sitcoms of all-time led by btw fantastically talented, and perfectly complimentary stars, Tony Randall and Jack Klugman. Klugman has received more accolades for his performance, which has always surprised me as Randall truly is a comic genius. The first season, filmed without a studio audience, lacks some of the wit, spontaneity and banter of future seasons but still produces some standout episodes. Seasons Two through Four are pure gold. Season Five you can feel the writers starting to run out of ideas, but again, there are still some classics to enjoy. It's also one of those shows that gets better and funnier with repeated viewings.

Top-notch preschool series with great messaging
21 March 2023
This show really raises the bar for preschool series in every way. It looks amazing. Beautiful animation. Just look at the fur on the kitties in this series and compare it to other preschool shows. They're gorgeous. The storytelling is spot on with pitch-perfect messaging about friendship, teamwork, empathy and forgiveness. It's also unbelievably cute with stellar songs, and it's something parents can watch and enjoy with their kids without losing their minds because it's smart and funny. The "brave, smart, strong, kind" mantra is a great one to impart to young kids. Best preschool show out there right now.
