Operation Dumbo Drop (1995)
A fair movie but mistake not that bad.
While it seems a little far fetched to fall out of the plane with an elephant, Galileo proved long ago that heavy objects and light objects fall at the same speed. The only factor which changes is the wind resistance. A very light object (cardboard box) presents more wind resistance and so will fall slower. What's more, falling objects reach terminal velocity and so it is possible for an object with less wind resistance to "catch up".
Heavenly Pursuits (1986)
A Smaller Conti Miracle
I enjoy movies with British settings. While I prefer SAVING GRACE to this movie this one is more believable. Conti has a way of linking the ordinary with the extraordinary which gives the movie realism and depth. I would like to see it again but I lent this video out to someone several years ago and can't remember who!
North of Superior (1971)
Superior IMAX Film
If Windjammer was amazing in my childhood the penultimate teenage being there movie experience was North of Superior.
I will always remember the song ...Superior Country, rugged and free... so sang the trapper...
And I will never forget the three naked sirens sitting on a rock in a lake, that was a fine example of nature.
Stigmata (1999)
The more you watch the worse it gets
This is a totally unrealistic movie which gets progressively more bizzare throughout the film.
While non-religious people can certainly have supernatural manifestations, this makes a mockery of all legitimate documented cases of the supernatural.
The idea of one priest seeing a girl privately is not appropriate in this era, as his case would lose credibility.
While the idea of corruption in the church is not new, the attempted murder of the stigmata victim is clearly beyond belief.
Special effects were tacky and acting was mediocre at best.
Elizabeth (1998)
Slow and not historically accurate
The costumes were good. Acting was average. Difficult to follow. Presumes audience has a degree in history. Preferred original movie.
