Dude, Where's My Car? (2000)
one of the best films I've ever seen
I don't care what anybody says; this film is very funny, CLEVER, well acted and brilliant. It may seem a lot like other films but it isn't, it's actually a lot more surreal and funny than them. Don't even say "come on, you can't expect a movie called *Dude, Where's My Car?* to be any good/a masterpiece/a comedy classic" because it's all of these things in my humble opinion. This druggy, crazy, convoluted adventure is superb. Of course it's silly as well, but so is *Blazing Saddles* and *Monty Python & The Holy Grail*, and the sheer "what-the-hell?" bizzaritude of scenes in which people come face to face with ostriches in back gardens, Andrew the monkey and countless other hysterical moments of absolute comic excellence rank this film with those ones. There's nothing wrong with being silly anyway, and anybody that thinks that there is needs to get their heads out of their bums, for, in the words of Willy Wonka, "A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men", so there. Only intelligent people will appreciate this film fully.
Derek and Clive Get the Horn (1979)
It gives me the horn!
Someone once described this recording, the filmic version of Ad Nauseum, as "Pete and Dud on acid." This is hilarious. It's crude and shocking and clever and insightful. In years to come, this'll be a profoundly interesting social document. If any "film" ought to be blasted off into space for aliens from the planet Z to find and watch, then this is it. I'll bet they'd laugh their socks off at it as well.
Jack Frost (1997)
this film made me laugh
The effects are awful and the plot's stupid; this is a brilliant and fun film! Charmingly shot on a shoe string budget, this is certainly not one to take seriously. You'll find yourself rooting for the crazy snowman rather than his human victims, and there are more (sick) laughs here than in the Michael Keaton film of the same name. All of the performances are perfectly corny and yet straight laced, and Scott Macdonald is excellent as the voice of Jack. This is perfect funny horror.
Arthur (1981)
a classic
Dudley Moore should have had an Oscar for this. He was nominated for one, and John Gielgud deservedly got one. Here, the Shakespearean actor fills Peter Cook's role as Arthur's loyal man servant, Hobson, getting the loveable drunkard off the wonky and wide, and onto the straight and narrow. He almost out shines Dudley, but not quite. This touching, funny film "solidified his standing as one of the most gifted comedians ever." He's very under rated. Judy Garland's daughter is also brilliant here.
Best Defense (1984)
this is one of my favourite films
This film is thoroughly entertaining and funny. Dudley Moore is as utterly watchable as ever, as is the "strategic guest star", Eddie Murphy. Actually, the 2 never appear in the same scene together, as Eddie's are set 2 years after Dudley's, and the action switches back and forth as if some idiot were fiddling with the remote control. Dudley runs around and gets into lots of trouble, Eddie says "S***!" a lot, and that's about it. It isn't really important, but the plot's quite clever and weird and convuluted as well. This is a brilliant, hilarious, underrated film.
Dark Star (1974)
I love this film!
It's weird and "Dark" and very funny and unique. It's also very lovingly and well made. Charming beach balls double up as naughty aliens and make strange sounds. It certainly knocks "2001" down a peg or 10, and wittily mocks/pays homage to the entire science fiction genre. It's also quite thought provoking and erudite and poignant, especially if you watch it on the television with some good friends late at night when it's raining and your drunk. It's well written, well acted, and brilliant. It's a classic film.
The Producers (1967)
this is one of my favourite films
Mel Brooks' first feature is one of his best and 'the' best; an ultimate comedy film of all time.
MEL BROOKS IS A BETTER FILM DIRECTOR THAN WOODY ALLEN!
This movie is full of wit, pathos, surreal gags and brilliant dialogue, excellent, believable, sympathetic, crazy, hilarious characters, a mad plot and stunning, outrageous, hysterical musical numbers and songs. It's perfect. See it.
