The Inheritance (1997 TV Movie)

An elegant adaptation of the wonderful LMA book
31 July 2000
I had read the book "The Inheritance" by Louisa May Alcott a few months before the movie came out. I was absolutely in love with the book and was pleased hear about the movie. I counted down the days and finally got a chance to watch it. Its a wonderful adaptation of the book. Louisa M. Alcott wrote this story when she was only 17 years old and never attempted to publish it. I'm so happy that it was found and that the movie was made...... Cari Shayne is amazing as Edith Adelon and Thomas Gibson is the perfect person to play Lord James Percy. If you like period films, like I do, you will love this movie. And if your favorite book is Little Women then you must read and watch the Inheritance (book/movie)......

True romance shines through
20 July 2000
When I first began to watch this movie, I thought, OH BOY this is going to be BORING! The plot did not make a whole lot of sense and the characters seemed to be picked out of nowhere. There was nothing cohesive about this movie at ALL!! Then, Jesus appears (the character named Jesus that is) and the audience is drawn away from the main romance (which at this point seems to be beyond any hope) to a side romance that is truer to life than anything I had ever seen. The instant and simple bond between Nina and Jesus was almost electric. It was not sensual or erotic, it was sweet and endearing. It was how love SHOULD be. Its the kind of romance/friendship/love that everyone looks for. One that is selfless and kind. It is worth watching this movie JUST to see the Nina/Jesus romance.... This movie proves that side romances are indeed the best, because they restore our hope in what seems to be an impossible goal.

Amazing movie
22 June 2000
This movie is absolutely amazing. At first I just saw it, in order to see Kate Winslet (one of my favorite actresses). But afterwards I watched this movie so many times that I have fallen in love with it. Its so captivating and intense. The murder scene is so violent and not because of the blood content but because of how realistic it was. Honora Parker's scream sent shivers down my spine. The bond between Juliet and Pauline was so intense that it left me in awe. If you listen to the narrative Pauline says that they were enacting how the Saints would have made love. They were just two passionate people with an intense friendship. What's most interesting is that the voice-over is from the real life Pauline's diary. The most shocking aspect of this movie is that its mostly TRUE!
