Jackie Gleason: Genius at Work (2006)
Rip-off of previous Gleason documentary
This documentary is a complete copy of "The Great Gleason" from 1986, released by the same company (MPI) that released this documentary. There is not one new thing in this doc. Basically, MPI falsely advertises a new product and then re-releases an old one, hoping nobody will notice that nothing is new. They long ago discontinued "The Great Gleason". Therefore MPI cashes in twice and doesn't have to let out new video. The people who did not see the first release (or don't hunt to buy it) don't know the difference. The ones who buy it having seen the first one are stuck with it. This is disappointing because they have own the rights to The Jackie Gleason Show and they have many many unreleased clips and episodes in their possession. Unless you are desperate to see this doc., don't buy it or buy it again. Get the original, better quality version (which is sad because this is a DVD and the other is a VHS). The narration is much better, the actual video clips are better quality (and lengthened) as well. You can purchase a copy cheaply at amazon or on ebay.

Double Whammy (2001)
so-so
Double Whammy so-so by: QTPi1969 (F/USA) 10/04/02 12:26 pm rating: This film, slated for release in the USA in 2001 never made it. I was lucky enough to view a foreign copy but was disappointed with the outcome of the film. Denis was not at his funniest in this film. Nor was the film a drama, so he did not really have a chance to show off his dramatic ability either. If you like Denis, it is a MUST SEE for you. He stars as a detective with back problems, drug problems, and overall LIFE problems. He falls for his charopractor, Hurley, in her office while getting an exam due to the fact that he fell while on duty during a shooting spree at a restaurant. There are some great smaller performances by actors such as Steve Buscemi as Denis cop-partner, and Chris Noth of Sex and the City, as another detective who wants to see the bumbling detective fail. Denis bumbling however is not all that funny. Hurley is "pretty" as usual and overall the film is so-so. If you want a REALLY good Denis and Liz movie, see Dawg, released on overseas DVD and VHS...now that will make you laugh out loud. This may brin a grin or two...if you like Denis like I do.
Ultimo tango a Parigi (1972)
Good find!
I am not a huge Brando fan. I recently saw The Chase and then saw this film had just been released on DVD and having my mind on a somehwat "plastic-looking" Y2K Brando i decided to give it a whirl. The sex scenes were explicit but the storyline around it was also very deep. A man's wife committs suicide and since they are far from being a loving married couple (she is actually having a known affair with a gentleman staying at a hotel they own together)has no clue why she did it. He meets a french woman and embarks upon an affair in an apartment building with her to possibly get him through this awful time and to find some anonymous comfort he so desperately needs. She has her own life (and fience) but being not too aure about him anyhow, and awfully young springs into the affair and falls in love. There are some wonderful and deep scenes between the two. One where he tells her they will remain anonymous, then slowly letting her tell bits about herself and revealing himself to her without using any names. Before you know it it would seem she has fallen for him. And then the movie takes this turn that completely LOST me and the end...well for lack of a better word...SUCKED! I would recommend seeing it because it is a well done film. It is full of sex and a bit of violent sex at that...but if you are up for a happy ending...keep looking for other films to see...
El caballero del dragón (1985)
Ah boy...different...
I was reading what the guy above said about it and no i have no clue how Harvey got suckered into doing this film. it is raw comedy for him. Typical princess meets the man of her dreams and can't have him film with Harvey as the knight who loves her and her money and is gonna kill the one she loves to impress the dad and princess, marry her, and thus be rich. Only problem is, he can't...and the idiocy of his fighting with a man who cannot be beaten...he is in an IRON suit which a bunch of swords cannot penetrate, is a riot! This must have been done during the BAD years when he had to buy baby formula and stuff. But see it just for the HUMOR and likeness to those crazy 60's sci-fi flicks like "It Came From Outer Space".
