A brilliant film
27 December 2000
This has got to be John Carpenter's best work. I'd even say it beats Escape from New York and The Thing. Sam Neill acted superbly as John Trent. Michael De Luca and H.P. Lovecraft wrote this story flawlessly. Once again Industrial Light and Magic lives up to their reputation ( famous for their work on Star Wars, Back to the Future and T2) and create mind-blowing visual effects that almost seem real enough to jump out of the television set. This will definitely got to number one on my mystery list. I am still trying to figure it out....

Could it get any better?
9 December 2000
I was thirteen when I saw the movie with Brandon Lee. I loved it immediately. I liked the way Eric adapts from a musician to a highly decorated killer. When the sequel was released to video I hired it out straight away. I was sort of disappointed. So, when the series was released I did not expect it to be good in any form. Boy, was I wrong! I do not think any one could have filled Lee's boots better than Dacascos. I was a fan of Dacascos before this was done but this just made him an even better actor in my book. I was impressed with the way the writers went into more depth with Draven's personal life, eg: the way he doesn't eat or sleep, how close the relationship between Eric and Shelley really was. Katie Stuart also plays Sarah quite well.

Another thing that makes the series so good is the way the fight scenes are choreographed. The movie had very few martial arts sequences (in comparison to Brandon's other films and the series). But the series then goes on to explain how a musician is so good at martial arts.

The Crow:Salvation has not yet been released in Australia as yet, but it will be interesting to watch. If it is anything like The first film and the series it'll rock!!!

The Crow (1994)
My favourite film ever!!!!
9 December 2000
I have loved this film since I first saw it in 1996. Brandon played the character of Eric with shear precision. His role here was unlike anything he had done before (Laser Mission, Rapid Fire, Showdown in Little Tokyo). He did not use a great deal of martial arts in this film which made the fight scenes spectacular. Instead of attacking with skill he fights with raw emotion.

Michael Wincott was great as yet another bad guy (Alien 4, Metro, The Three Musketeers). He was very sinister and comical at the same time, something rare among actors.

Ernie Hudson was good as Albrecht. Rochelle Davis was superb as Sarah (which suprised me to find this is her only film).

Production designer Alex McDowell deserves alot of credit for the set designs in this. Graeme Revell mastered another great soundtrack (The Crow : City Of Angels, From Dusk Till Dawn). Also, Alex Proyas did a magnificant job directing this. It has a dark and depressing setting which suits the story. If Pressman and Most hired Proyas to direct the sequel instead of Tim Pope it would have been alot more successful.

All things considered it has to be the greatest film ever. It is a shame Brandon Lee had to die just as his career was about to sky rocket. He was a great actor. He will be missed by both the movie industry and his devoted fans.

The most unusual action film ever! *SPOILER*
5 November 2000
Warning: Spoilers
I have been a fan of Robert Rodriguez since I saw Desperado. I had also seen a few Quentin Tarantino films Jackie Brown, Reservoir Dogs and True Romance. So, imagine my surprise when the plot suddenly turns from two criminals escaping the law to a bar becoming a feeding ground for vampires. However, this just makes the film even more original. George Clooney proves he is a good actor in this film and Tarantino plays the perfect homicidal maniac. Salma Hayek once again pleases the male audience without removing all of her clothes! Some of the one liners are also entertaining. Check out the listing on this site especially Cheech Marin as he stands outside the brothel advertising the "products" available.

Scary Movie (2000)

One of the best parodies ever...
13 October 2000
This must be one of the best parodies I have ever seen. I enjoyed the way that 'teen-slasher' flicks were mocked. It was well written with few cliche`s. For anyone who enjoyed this I also recommend films from Zucker/Abraham/Zucker, such as Flying High 1&2(Airplane-USA title), Naked Gun trilogy, Hot Shots 1&2 and Top Secret. Also, Fatal Instinct and IDLE HANDS!

Evil Dead II (1987)
Remember Evil Dead? Guess what? It just got better!
25 April 2000
That is right people, Ash is back! This film contains everything Evil Dead fans love and even more. More blood, more gore, more ammo, more victims and a hell of a lot more of those spectacular one-liners. This is another romp around the cabin from hell, Ash stumbling from sanity to insanity and obtains a HANDy new weapon. So remember, kiddies, when you go to watch this one pick a nice secluded cabin deep in the woods, have volume turned up loud so you can hear the glorious sound of ...well you fans know, and keep the shotty handy... cos ya gonna need it!
