The Deep End (2001)
Extremely unrealistic, but very good!
I found this movie to be extremely well written and well directed, however the whole story concept is completely implausible. Goran Visnjic and Tilda Swinton are both fabulous in this film. My favorite scene was when Alec (Goran Visnjic) arrived at the house of Swinton's character to collect the money she promised him, right as the grandfather was having a heart attack. Then Alec immediately jumped in and helped rescue him. It was right out of ER! A GREAT scene. I definitely recommend this movie! :0) 8/10
The Others (2001)
What a surprise!
I would have probably disliked this movie, if it weren't for the absolutely shocking and wonderful ending! The movie seemed to move very slowly up until the last 30 minutes when everything finally fell into place and made this movie a unique masterpiece. I loved how the whole movie was in the dark, which was of course due to Grace's children, however, it was an effect that made the movie truly horrifying. I also enjoyed the occasional moments that made you jump. There was just the right amount in this film, unlike "What Lies Beneath", which made me jump at almost every moment. I definitely recommend this movie to anyone who wants a smart, scary surprise! 8/10
The Mists of Avalon (2001)
Old Story, but still Intriguing
I watched Merlin a couple of years ago and absolutely loved it! This story is quite similar but from Morgaine's point of view. At times I felt like the story was complicated and hard to understand but this miniseries is quite enjoyable and understandable. Julianna Margulies is believable as Morgaine and Joan Allen is magnificent as the evil Morgause. The scenery in the movie is amazing and the costumes are beautiful. I would recommend this film to anyone who loves the story of King Arthur and his court.
Madigan Men (2000)
A surprisingly funny show!
I, too, tune in to watch this show purely because Gabriel Byrne is in it. I have seen his previous works and thought this show would be worth watching as well. As it turns out, it is! The show is funny and has many realistic concepts. The only thing I do not like about the show are Benjamin's (Gabriel Byrne) co-workers. I think they are quite annoying. Overall, I would recommend this show.add it to your TV watching schedule on Friday nights. :0)
