Crazy Guy Frank Assault and Kills People

Frank is just a crazy guy that sees and hear things now and then. Maybe his bad childhood is to blame, maybe he's just crazy. However, when his drug addict of a wife relapses and leaves him for the local drug lord, Franks gets crazier. He sews up his own red suit and starts mashing peoples heads in with a wrench. Some people are pretty bad people, some just cutting in line before him. He reluctantly teams up with an even crazier young woman, and BAM! they are a super hero team. Sort of. It gets worse of course, but it is pretty entertaining. Someone who runs around "punishing criminals" with a wrench is probably just a mental case on the loose. Frank's goal though is to get his wife back. Not so easy, the drug dealers have guns, and Frank just have a wrench. His overly enthusiastic sidekick helps, in her own way. All in all, pretty good movie. A dark and bloody movie fore sure, but a good one.

I wouldn't call this a comedy, maybe a black comedy. Scifi? No way. Looking for Kick Ass? Look somewhere else.

Legend of the Seeker (2008–2010)

Nothing special

Just another episodic show. Villains in scarlet silk and black leather, heroes with magic swords, dragons (well dragon-like monsters), wizards and damsels in distress. Whats good is that the childish comic reliefs of Xena Hercules is not really there. It's refreshing, but doesn't make it good by itself. The characters are mostly one sided and not that interesting. The plot is, well predicable to say the least. There is a big plot, but it is mostly in the back seat to this week's little adventure. All those side stories doesn't add much, character development is slow or none existing. Richard is pretty much the same guy in the end of the series as he is in the beginning.

All the cliché is there. Magic is... well magic. Nobody cares how it works or not works. What the sword of Truth is or what a Seeker really are is never explored. The Midlands is a big place, but we never see much of it. Except for the never ending woodland. I agree that the scenery is good looking for the most part, but it isn't enough with good scenery. Some fantastic creatures and monsters are seen briefly, but mostly it is humans in bog standard fantasy outfits. The costumes are alright, and the villains look nice in their red leather.

The effects are okay. I really like the dramatics around Kahlans Confessor power. Some of the monsters are animated poorly though, but nothing too obvious.

And if you read the books, well... Let me put it this way: the series doesn't have much to do with the books. They have borrowed names, and that is about it. Most concepts are ignored or dumbed down to unrecognition. The magic of Orden be the prime example. So if you want The Sword of Truth, read the books. Don't watch this... thing.

Don't waste your time

Where to start? The animation is definitely sub-standard. Jerky, unsubstantial and boring. They mix bad animations with bad CG, and it looks horribly. The characters are like pieces of wood, expressions very simple or not at all. Only Sutherlands outstanding voice-acting makes any lasting impression. The story works, but no thanks to the movie makers.

I really like the books, Hickman and Weis write good fiction, the Dragonlance universe is nice. But this movie is an affront to it. Hard core Fanboys of Dragonlance might give this trash a higher rating, but I will not. Don't waste your time.

The Bourne Identity (2002)

Another remake

This remake of the 1988 TV movie is so so. The story is pretty solid, as most of Ludlums work. However, not very well adapted to the screen. The cast were quite flat, no big highlights. Pretty slow sometimes. Not very hard to foresee the plot. I give it a 6.
