What an embarrassment for Ed Harris
1 November 2008
I tell you, I've never walked out on a movie before, but I was desperate to walk out on this horrible disaster of a movie.

I respect Ed Harris as an actor and I went to see the movie because I am fond of all the people who starred in the film. However, Ed Harris has proved that his understanding of film-making is greatly lacking.

This movie had so many scenes that were directed the way a college student just learning the basics might direct. Bad edits, amateur camera angles, and long... long... painful long sequences of meandering dialogue that did nothing for the story except make you wish it would end soon.

There were also some scenes where they failed in the sound mixing so you couldn't catch certain lines that might have been funny... but the direction for the actors was just as poor as the technical miscues and failings. The script had scenes that could have been funny if they had been delivered in a form other than FLAT... which was the feel through the whole film... FLAT. All the lines were delivered with dismissive feeling toward the film over all (another reason the movie fails to capture or interest.) The plot was very basic and straight forward, leaving no surprises... and there really seemed to be no sense of consequence for any action. There was no real tension in the film... or real anything (except for the town itself. I do have to give credit that the town and costumes were very realistic... succeeding in making the town looking lived in).

I suggest Ed Harris not direct another movie ever again...

and I wish I could get my money back...

How did this movie even get made
7 August 2003
With a script on par with grade school writing and acting that doesn't meet up with a high school drama club, this laughable piece of "film" doesn't deserve to see the light of day.

It does everything wrong.

If you want to learn how not to make a movie, just try to get through this amateurish nightmare.

People got paid for this???

Failure
14 May 2002
To take a comic book as complicated as Alan Moore's "From Hell" and reduce it into this kind of trash is even more offensive than a movie that's just bad.

From Hell, the comic book, is very detailed, filled with detailed references and each issue is annotated with facts.

Obviously the makers of this movies just didn't feel like reading.

Doctor Who (1996 TV Movie)

I thought it had potential!

Some people hold on to the past too hard. They forget that Dr. Who, being a TV series, had some excellent episodes and some really, really awful ones. I think the FOX revamp of our favorite time-lord was interesting! It had the class of starting off with the last Doctor of the British show and then led us into a movie that combined the story line of the British show with an American spin.

I think it worked very well... and while die-hard Who fans may not have approved, I think this show needed to be given a chance... the pilot certainly had a good start... and the Master was never cooler than he was in this pilot.

The movie had flaws... but it was still better than a lot of other shows on US television... and let's not forget Dr. Who no longer is being made in England... and I think this would have been a perfectly acceptable continuation of the series.

I wish Fox would reconsider bringing it back!

How could you go this far wrong?

When you're making a movie about King Arthur and you have Sean Connery as Arthur... it seems impossible to believe that it would be anything but a great movie.

Sadly, the people who made this one have defied the odds, making one of the worst movies I have ever had the misfortune to see. Since the Legend of King Arthur has been around for a long time, it seems a bad move to not trust it.

They made up some villain rather than using Mordred or Morgan LeFay

They changed Lancelot's background

They changed the whole dynamic of the triangle that this story is supposed to be based on

and all that enhanced by one of the worst scripts you can think of.

I wish I had never seen this movie... minutes of my life lost forever!
