Ugh
8 February 2008
I found this film terribly boring. My son and I saw it. He enjoyed it but I think he enjoyed it because of Daniel Day Lewis' performance. A great performance does not make a good film. I understand the critics who like the cinematography and great acting. But doesn't a good film have to entertain. And this one didn't entertain. The soundtrack was overbearing. Every time I closed my eyes I thought "this film is boring. When is it going to end." The soundtrack would wake me up. Not that it was bad it just overpowered the film. Daniel Plainview and Paul Sunday were two of the most repulsive characters I've seen in a film. The scene's with Plainview and Paul Sundays sister are upsetting as are Paul Sunday's sermons.

See this film if you are into lousy movies. The acting is terrible. Where did this guy Reb Brown come from. The action choreography is lousy. In some instances you could hear people scream before they is actually shot. Saw XXX the day after I saw this film. Took a point away from Firing Line and gave it to XXX.

Fun

Recently found a series of DVDs called Women Who Kick Ass. I've seen a few kung fu films over the years. Some were superb, some were ok and some were lousy. The common denominator in all being the action scenes were pretty good. The acting, writing and general filmaking in this film is terrible plus the fight scenes really suck. It looks like most the action scenes were done by stunt people and the actresses didn't know much about martial arts.

All this taken into account it is still a fun film to watch.

Why wasn't this a straight to video release?

This film was bad. In the past these sequels have been delegated to video only.

The acting wasn't bad. Joan Collins was superb as Wilma's rich mother. A couple of jokes were great. But it was slow.

My 8 year old son loved the film. I would've walked out if I could. I think I would rather watch The Pokemon Movie again.
