INTENSE, DRAMATIC & AMAZING!
conca-628-18337210 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This season is getting better and better!

Daryl and Carols' mission was high-stakes & risky but it was so intense to watch when they crossed the border and they had to hide.

Negan & Beta coming face to face was amazing too. There moments in the episode were incredible to watch. Carol capturing a Whisperer isn't going to go down well with Alpha and I'm looking forward what they outcome is for that!

The ending was amazing too; Negan battling the Walkers because Beta did what he did. Negan & Alpha finally came to face to face which excites me because I've read & seen some of the comics and it's only going to get better as the show goes on.

THE WHISPERER WAR IS AROUND THE CORNER!! Overall, I loved this episode, it's getting better and better every week, my rating for episode is: 9.0 out of 10.0

Great Episode

Warning: Spoilers
Negan whas handsdown the best thing this episode. He and Beta were actually kinda funny.

The Eugene moment were really emotional.

One thing I find not so good during this season now is that Alpha is pushed away as a lead character. She does not much but talk... no actions.

But one of the better episode's this season

My Take?
intrepidami11 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
First again with things more unrealistic than walking corpses: People maintaining a large body mass after 8+ years into a ZA? Have you ever watched Survivor? These people are in some remote area with limited food for just about 40 days. Does anybody maintain their body mass? No, they all lose weight! Some dramatically, they are emaciated at the end! So I see this scene with Eugene and a black woman and the whole time I'm like how are they both fat? Farming is rather limited. Hunting is limited. Scavenging is practically non existent by now. Everybody on this show should be rail thin! This just defies nature! They show people dirty and what not, but ignore the Body mass. OK?

Then they have Daryl and Carol go out on a scouting expedition and Daryl asks Carol if she's got food. And they eat a tiny meal. This is in reality what it should be like 24/7. Rationing would be vital to their survival. It just makes no sense whatsoever.

Other than that, It was an OK episode. If anybody should be regularly covering themselves with Walker "scent" it should be Daryl and Carol. They are both hardened off on their own, survivors. Good to see they Finally showed that.

Negan is back to being "kick ass Negan". He is like the Joker compared to Alpha and Beta being minor villains. For all her intimidating stair downs and whatnot, you know he'll dispatch her as soon as it's feasible with EASE.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan deserves an Emmy
Splarke2211 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Jeffrey Dean Morgan has been PHENOMENAL this season, especially in the last two episodes! His acting has been as great as ever and his charisma is through the roof right now! It looks as though Negan has joined forces with the Whisperers, but does he have an ulterior motive at play here...? 10/10 episode!

Daryl, Carol, and Negan are the pillars of the show.
opreston-10 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Personal favorite episode of the season.

  • Eugene finding that woman on the radio gave me chills. This has the possibility to lead into something huge. Another community; another part of the world we have yet to explore.

  • Siddiq's PTSD is clearly leading to something, and I can't imagine that something being a good something.

  • Negan and Beta scenes are something I never thought I needed until now. Aside from the weird song they chose for that otherwise great montage. Also, that Whisperer giving Negan some food was oddly wholesome. Ashame Beta killed him. The Whisperers are fond of Negan.

  • Daryl and Carol; I can't express in words how their scenes together make me feel. I mean their relationship is sublime. Carol ushering Daryl to pursue Connie tells you a lot about how their relationship has evolved. Even though Carol was playing Daryl like a fiddle for the rest of the episode, lmao.

Better than expected
maximovlE11 November 2019
I expected a filler, thankfully this wasn't one. It's funny reading the comments here, how can someone call this a filler? Darryl and Carol make huge steps towards the whisperers, Negan takes even bigger steps... The plot is moving along while opening new doors.

The camera work has been mentioned here and I have to say it's awesome. It's so good I never once noticed it. That's what camera work should be like. I don't want arty shots, or shaky cam... I don't want to feel like I'm watching a show, I want to feel like I'm in it. And this proper camera work does just that.

The Dangerous Alliance
claudio_carvalho16 November 2019
Carol sneaks out and leaves Hilltop but Daryl sees and asks her where she is going. She tells that she would hunt Negan and reluctantly accepts the company of Daryl. They stop at the border and Daryl finds Carol´s true intention. In Alexandria, Siddiq and Dante are facing a mysterious epidemic with many residents sick. Negan is tested by the Whisperers and surprisingly survives. Eugene makes contact through radio with a mysterious woman.

"Bonds" is another good episode of "The Walking Dead". The consequence of trespassing the border of Carol and Daryl associated to the dangerous alliance of Negan and Alpha indicate a promising sequel. The disease certainly caused by the remains of walkers dropped by the Whisperers into the river is also promising. My vote is seven.

Title (Brazil): "Laços" ("Bonds")

Note: On 08 January 2024, I saw this episode again.

Great episod as the portrayl between tension and slow but important dialogs.
ebbewahlstrom10 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
What I like the most in this episod was that it had both horror thrilling tension to it and a more slowed out important conversation, for example when eugine sat on the radio talking to that random lady and then the next shot we get to see daryl covered in walkers blod standing behind a whisper.

I also like the new Negan storyline when he's not just in a case anymore but actually trying to "fit in with the whispers" only to get to know alpha so that he could kill her if thats happends.

So What Did We Learn Tonight?
sevenlilxenos11 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Hydrating with contaminated water prolly isn't a good idea.

Creepy doctors need to work on their bedside manners or put on a red shirt.

Sometimes Negan talks too much and misses people kneeling to him.

Double capped acorns really are good luck and will prolly pop up again as a signal or a message.

Apparently you start at the very bottom when joining the Whispers.

It doesn't take much to catch the attention of a Walker herd.

If Eugene can't have a girlfriend in real life an over the radio one will do.

Daryl makes a good bloody Rambo.

With a name like Coco are they sure Gabriel isn't the baby daddy?

Pissing off Beta, in the middle of a Walker herd, with only a small folding knife, bad idea.

Either Daryl is a bad searcher or Carol is a bad liar.

Best line of the night: Your not going anywhere.

I CANT BELIEVE HOW GOOD THIS IS! This episode is honestly my favorite episode of the show! It has an amazing story, unbelievable acting, and the writing is phenomenal. Also, the camera work has gotten quite great this season. Finally, part of what was so great about this one is that the writers were brave enough to make it super emotional but also having a lot of scenes that are genuinely hilarious! 11/10 stars!

at least it was entertaining this week
Rob-O-Cop11 November 2019
I thought the Negan and Beta stuff was funny although it was kinda world breaking. Negan rabbiting on in a dead herd delivering punch line after punch line. It didn't make sense in the Walking Dead World and it didn't make sense to what we've known of the whisperers world, it kinda turned them all into clowns, which was fun, well it's better than the wet tissues we've been given the rest of this season. I'd take this over the direction it has been going. We got some sort of plan from Daryl and Carol with the taking out their herd idea, finally the story turns to them doing something hopefully clever instead of endless smart people doing dumb things plot devices. Who in their right mind thinks that's entertaining to watch for 9 series? That's what we're all bored with and it should be obvious, people messing up and or being dumb doesn't make for good tv. Make em smart, make em smarter than the audience, if any single one of us had spent as many years as these people not dying in the walking dead universe we would have developed skills and practices well above what we're handed in each episode. Seriously, how do the dead keep creeping up on the players? it's insulting.

Maybe Next Episode...
sjkriz11 November 2019
I keep praying this show will turn around with every episode and so far I've been very let down... Not sure why they're concentrating so much on supporting cast members, but I'm just not feeling it. Here are my thoughts from the episode:

1. How can Negan walk among the dead without a mask or blood and guts all over him? He also talks normal and yet the Walkers don't attack him, but Daryl has to cut open a Walker and cover his face with blood and guts. This doesn't make any sense...

2. Carol is now that crazy old lady that doesn't listen to anyone and is causing problems in every episode.

3. Eugene's whole scene is a bit goofy to me. If you were in a zombie apocalypse and were searching every day for people on a CB, you would be so excited to hear someone. Yet, him and the woman form an almost online type relationship and want it to be a secret. I personally hope it is Rosita Catfishing him someway, somehow.

4. They have really worn me out with Siddiq's character. Not sure if it is the guy's acting or the writing or both. I just don't care to watch his character development.

5. How has Aaron' not told anyone about how he saw a Whisperer cutting open a Walker and contaminating the water they all drink from? Sure seems like it would be easy to find out what is causing the illness if they'd just investigate a little bit.

Lastly, I'm going to call it right now and say that Dante likes Siddiq and something is going to happen with them...

Negan is awesome , and eugene is so annoying
jeetinder67010 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Overall great episode , however eugene is so boring , i mean why is he getting so much screen time when there are so many other characters to explore . I would've given this episode a 8,but the ending was just great. Negan is life of this show now , we get to see the same old charming Negan at the end of this episode and even alpha seemed kind of threatened by his presence , it's funny to see that negan isn't scared of beta, beta tries to get rid of him the entire episode, due to that negan ending this deserves a solid 9/10. Looking forward to more great episodes.

Beta With Benefits
ThomasDrufke12 November 2019
In the past I have complained about some of the filler TWD episodes, but of late, they have handled them significantly better. Not that this week was necessarily filler, but it was certainly slower, further exemplifying the "Cold War" feel of the show that Angela Kang has said to the audience over the last few months. Plus, I will take a Carol/Daryl team up episode any chance I get.

And seeing her actually try and pry information out of Daryl about his feelings for Connie was interesting as we haven't (really ever) seen Daryl discuss his romantic interests. And that's why I love he stuck to his guns and brushed it off....for now.

Another team up was the endlessly funny Negan/Beta dynamic. Sure, they played on some familiar tropes we have seen, but there's nothing like letting Negan loose a bit and getting to see more of Beta's psyche. But what really is Negan's plan? I mean, we all know he doesn't really want me to be a Whisperer, right? At the very least because he cares for Judith, if for nobody else, and he wouldn't do that to her. But is he there on his own merits, or is there more to be revealed about his escape after all?

Eugene got in contact with someone & a sickness went around Alexandria was how the episode was rounded out. I still don't know how I feel about Siddiq's nightmares/PTSD considering he hasn't necessarily wowed me performance wise yet, but that's not to say it can't change. I also appreciated the different aspect that Eugene's arc brought to the episode, when was the last time he got his own episode arc, anyway?

Low expectations, better than the expectation
davisond-9573012 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I have to say I have really enjoyed Season 10 so far, 9 set the show back on it's original path in great ways exceeding the few couple of seasons before it and became one of my favourites. 10 I still feel the same way if not better, as a comic reader I knew what kind of storylines would be happening and from seeing sneak peeks and promos I was little worried thinking this would be the return of the filler episodes..... I was wrong!

I'll cover the smaller parts of episode first, that being Siddiq and Dante dealing with the sickness bug spreading throughout Alexandria and Eugene coming into a contact over the radio.

As for the Eugene part I expected it to be a slow burn but I actually felt intrigued and couldn't leave the room and for once this doesn't sound like a shady villain speaking who the group will probably deal with in the upcoming seasons, a new threat?

The PTSD is still affecting Siddiq in big ways, is he hiding something? Him and new doc Dante are trying to help the residents overcome a rapidly spreading bug and nobody knows what the cause could be, is this the water we saw Gamma infecting last episode and if so why hasn't Aaron mentioned anything yet?

Now the two stories that matter, Daryl and Carols mission and Negan meeting the Whisperers.

Carol sets off on a mission to find Negan, Daryl joins her in which it's revealed she's not looking for Negan but Alphas herd in hopes of destroying it. They both go ahead with this suicidal plan, Daryl is forced to do the guts trick whilst Carol captures a whisperer taking it hostage.

Negan being Negan doesn't shut up so he's gunna struggle adapting to the whisperers way of life, he irritates Beta who wants to kill him the whole episode but can't due to following Alphas orders. He is put to the test, skins some walkers and kills a pig before cooking it but can't have a piece of bacon and is instead thrown to the ground like a rag doll by Beta. Beta then kills the whisperer that is nice to Negan and leaves him for dead in which he returns to the camp where he kneels in front of Alpha telling her he'll do what it takes to become a whisperer.

Touching moments between crossbow guy and his elderly mom
random-7077810 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
First of all, take heart. The usual people whose only activity on IMDB is to give TWD episodes gushing tens are here. That's nice.

Other than that this is simply a filler episode. More Alpha beta gamma delta whatever; the obvious fact that the physician's assistant is working for the skin hangers, oh that will be a big "reveal" after being telegraphed for five episodes; and of course crossbow guy concerned that his mom will perpetrate gun violence and that he may need to red flag her -- before someone puts their eye out.

Negan a pillar, but else... lukewarm
athallica13 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
What fascinated me most was the old Negan look, after Beta (I tried the Greek character but regards it to be invalid) pushes him to the ground.

But overall I think of how a Governor would have handled the Whisperer situation. That shoes me how weak the communities are and would normally have been wiped out. On the other hand the potential of the Whisperers wasn't used at all, although the silent, psychopathy of Alpha (I tried the Greek character...) offers so many possibilities which would dwarf all preceeding villains... . She was so efficient without talking much. Instead, she is standing in the woods. Without talking much.

Both sides would have followed a different strategy, because both sides know they cannot coexist, especially after the pikes. At least on the communities' side they have educated people...sigh

Yeah, bla bla. Let's end it simple: Negan was diabollically cool! 😎

Fun direction.
cruise0111 November 2019
4 out of 5 stars.

It was fun to see how Negan was trying to join the whisperers. Him confronting Beta and getting on each others nerves. While Daryl and Carol are plotting to cross Whisperers border to get Alpha. While at Alexandria, there is a sickness going around.

The episode was good. Entertaining. A little slow but worth watching.

kim-jodoin6712 November 2019
Love having Carol scenes. Love seeing group doing what they do best come together and fight for each other.... I love Samantha Morton as an actor, but she doesn't hold a candle to Melissa. It's like seeing an actor in their element and one wandering. All hail Melissa!

Solid build up episode for things to come
Shadowboy_25cm2 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This episode has some kind of feel for a filler episode, because some storylines are like a development for something to come:
  • Carol/Daryl on their own again
  • Negan/Beta have some dynamics
  • Eugene gets his own story arc
  • some disease in Alexandria

but then, it doesn't really feel like a filler episode, because it's fun to watch and keeps you interested because of the characters.

Negan is a bit to cool in all of this and the atmosphere loses some of its grimness with scenes like the music clip at the Whisperers camp or the dumb scene between Beta an Negan surrounded by walkers and Negan talks and walks and looks like he doesn't care. Too cool. But that's just my opinion.

Negan has a plan and thats the thing that keeps the developments at the Whisperers camp and this season interesting.

What!?
diggerz03911 November 2019
I read someones review saying its their favourite episode of the show???? I have never read anything so ridiculous. This person clearly hasnt seen any other episode or theyre actually braindead.

This episode again was just 'blah'. Like ive said in previous reviews, this is my favourite series ever. Watched since the beginning. But lately i have just been watching out of curiosity. Like most people i know.

I just think most fans are waiting for the Grimes movies because this show is losing its audience in quick time. Nothing happens at all in any episode. Just a bunch of moany people moaning at each other like its hollyoaks or the US equivalent.

Even Daryl and Carols characters are becoming dull. Negan is keeping it alive a little but its sad thats all it has going for it

I imagine the mid season finale will leave a stupid cliffhanger which would be fine if it had anything good leading up to it. Every season so far i have watched the first 8 episodes before the mid season premiere has come out but i can guara f tee i will not be watching this absolute trash before ep 9 comes out in Feb. I would rather watch grey's anatomy on vhs.
