Lighten Up Ruth!

I love Ruth and Julie Warner's portrayal, but she needs to get another dimension than just being angry and cussing all the time. I hope Wendy's goofy brother gets her to lighten up.

When they mentioned REO Speedwagon in the first episode, we knew were going to see them perform. I didn't expect it so soon. So fun to have the performance intertwined with all of the scheming and surprise of Marty agreeing to join the FBI!! Unexpected, exciting plot twists, also loving the interplay between the youngest characters.

Show is Getting Ridiculous and Repetitive

While I like the turn of characters displayed by Wendy and Marty, the show is getting repetitive. Insurmountable problem arises, Wendy and/or Marty use some pressure, insurmountable problem goes away within an episode or two. Sometimes within the same episode. That and ridiculous stuff like what happened with the other casino owners is moving this show into silly territory. Though I must admit I get a chuckle out of Marty and the psychiatrist interactions.

REO Speedwagon is in the house! What else do you need to know??!

I grew up in the 70s. REO is one of my all-time favorite bands. While this show "rocks," REO was the highlight for me!

Incompetent Writing

I also stopped watching the show with this episode. There has been a gradual decrease in the quality of writing starting from mid S02. But this was it. Cringey conversations, unconvincing character arcs and logical errors. Also seems to be written on an agenda that is becoming a pandemic in the industry.

Not the show I watched on S01. Chris Mundy should reconsider Ning Zhou.

Giving a 5/10 for other peoples work with the camera/editing/acting etc. But 0/10 for writing.

Wendy saved the day.

They are seen sharing personal things over a drive which is indicative of their relationship having stretched beyond professional boundaries. Wendy's increasing proximity to Helen demands more than just a commitment to lifting up Navarro's drug cartel. It is also an added responsibility for Wendy and her family to start with a clean slate with her daughter, who is told to be kept away from their dirty secrets. Although laundering is more important than life for Marty, he needs to slow down on moving money within Missouri Bell or maybe even stop completely until the FBI gets off his back. Wendy has very little time to seal Big Muddy's hotel deal as Navarro is started to lose his patience and is being vocal about his disappointment in her. After cheating Anita and Carl into selling their property and before boredom could dawn on her once again, Wendy comes up with a plan to take Zeke away from Darlene who she spots at the supermarket. Clearly Wendy is fighting a tough battle with Marty more than anybody else. She would have gotten rid of him as well had he not been the father of her children, or at least she is capable of doing so. If there is one person who isn't complying with their insanity, it is none other Marty Byrde (Jason Bateman). With Ruth Langmore (Julia Garner) also under their spell, Marty is on his own. However, he has one too many issues to deal with as Agent Maya Miller is going hard on him. Ozark throws the most epic cliffhangers our way, and the third episode of the season is no exception. I mean, how crazy was the ending? Marty was straight-up abducted, and it was ridiculous. Some may agree he had this coming given all the chaos he has caused, but it was still rather scary to see him in this situation.

Season 3 should have been named as Ben of Ozark.

A little bit of comedy here and there, but more importantly a cliffhanger and some excitement. The first strong episode of the season.

First 'bad' episode

The Sopranos did it. Breaking Bad did it. Game of Thrones did it. Now Ozark has done it: produced a meh episode. Is meh the correct word now? I'm older than I used to be so I hope I'm using it in context. Not a terrible episode in a fantastic, amazing series but the first one that I've seen that lost my interest a bit. Also, the REO thing was..hokey. Is that a word now? REO was HUGE in my teens. To see them portrayed as this is...sad. Maybe they do shows this small, I don't know, but overall it just made me feel like the insurance commercial that has the band Ratt in the kitchen. Not good. And the FBI auditing the heck out of the casino--can they do that? Seems pretty invasive. Not that I'm rooting for the bad guys but I'm...okay, I'm rooting for the bad guys. I also rooted for Tony S. and Walter White. Not the White Walkers though--I have standards.

BORING! I used to be glued to the screen season 1 and season 2.

The power shift to Wendy just seems contrived, and her and Helen's character seem to be not what they were before.

Wendy was more passive, now seems to be uber aggressive and power hungry Helen was the tough front woman for the cartel, but now seems to be soft, Marty? Seems to be a shadow of himself, and a brow beaten husband. I just don't get this. It's as though the writers have run out of puff, and just looking for fluff to keep it going.

The brother, and Jonah's attempt at love interest is just boring. Very very boring, and out of place for what should be a hard hitting thriller drama.

It used to be. In my opinion, it's going off the rails.

We shall see in E04.

1) The abduction scene was unrealistic. There were FBI agents in that concert. Marty even talked to a FBI agent just few minutes before the abduction. In front of all the people, Marty was abducted and was only seen by Ben? Seriously?

2) The hotshot mob lawyer who was a horrifying character in season 2, suddenly after 2 episodes becomes Wendy's BFF? Come on man. Seriously?

The scene where the casino owner hits his wife was hilarious. Not only was the conversation a great example of poor writing, but the punch didn't even look real. And then we're supposed to believe he killed her with one punch? This show is trying to outdo itself in how ridiculous it can be.

S03e03 is where I stopped. Bad writing, story gets out of hand and any authenticity that has been left to that show is now gone. I just got the feeling that I got with some other over-continued good shows that didn't have anything left to add to its story. Too bad it happened here after only 2 seasons and 2 episodes.

No spoiler here - something that has happened on that episode just made hit the pause button and wonder why.

Last thing I'll say is please give your audience a bit more credit.

This show is getting more and more stupid, who writes that sort of nonsense and gets away with it? especially Wendy, who becomes a powerseeking biatch out of a sudden, together with her new bff, the mobs attorney, who changed from hardcore gangster to a soft-sided mother in between like 3 episodes?? who still believes that crap? but on top of it comes this typical US-hypocrisy, the affair Wendy had seems to be the most shocking thing to anyone. destroying the lifes of innocent people, either by brutal force and murder or by fierce intrigue, doesn't seem to bother anyone, especially not the protagonists who feel they are doing the right thing.

The Law of Large Numbers

A poor episode with more plot holes than swiss cheese. The hackneyed dream literary device is trite and lazy and the enmity between Marty and Wendy stretches credulity to breaking point.

Choices made by several key characters are contrived, unnatural and not in line with their own best interests.

REO Speedwagon does not rescue this, the weakest episode from Ozark by a significant margin!

Such one-dimensional characters. The writing has been on a downward slope since season two. So many plot holes. The dream sequences are out of order. Marty mentions to Wendy that she said out loud, "I can't " but that wasn't until the second dream. You'd think a show like this would have better editing.
