Cringeworthy afternoon snack
vindstilla10 November 2020
Enough too keep you company in the background while doing something else, like laundry or crosswords... incredibly predictable but warm and cuddly. The story has the same depth and believability as a childrens tale. Acting very cheesy and unrealistic. But that's alright, it's a christmas movie afterall and i didn't mind watching it. In fact, it made me crave some hot chocolate...

Poor

Writing and dialogue was not very good. Things seemed forced or unnatural. Acting was fair at best. Didn't seem to have any chemistry.

Predictably Enjoyable

Warning: Spoilers
I was looking forward to watching Tia in this movie and it was fun seeing Jackee and Tim Ried as her parents again. As for the storyline....quite predictable....career girl inherits an inn located in small town, no longer wants big city life, falls in love and they live "happily ever after" ... What turned me off was the shameless plug for Balsam Hill. In my opinion, this may as well have been an infomercial! Balsam Hill was said more than once as well as an explanation and view of their website. We could read Balsam Hill on the delivered boxes. That was more than enough promotion. A thank you to them in the credits would work, too.

Hmm below par ...

Tia acting awesome ... But filming ... Outside the inn... ... You are in a small TOWN COUNTRY. Very little traffic and you show high volume traffic all around this place. You had no understanding of a small town ... Did someone forget to use their head? Lol would make sense if your MOVIE / FILMING/ Background all made sense to where it's suppose to be location wise...

Sister Sister Reunion
Christmas-Reviewer27 November 2018
Review Date 11/26/2018 I Have Reviewed OVER 500 "Christmas Films and Specials". Please BEWARE Of films and specials with just one review! For instance When "It's a POSITIVE" chances are that the reviewer was involved with the production. "If its Negative" then they may have a grudge against the film for whatever reason. I am fare about these films.

With the holiday season in full swing, a woman is about to score a big promotion at her ad agency in San Francisco. Her life is unexpectedly turned upside down when she inherits a cozy inn in Alaska from her aunt. When she goes to inspect the property and meets a handsome attorney, she is surprised to find that nothing is what she expected. The small-town community is full of fun and festive Christmas traditions, and she starts wondering if the inn might just be the place she belongs.

Now I love Tia Mowry but she does a great job here. She can handle this acting job here in her sleep. I just hope "Hollywood" gives her a role that really shows off how talented she is.

Good overall

Not realistic, Alaska does not have daylight in the winter. Lived there while my husband was stationed in Fairbanks. This is not the first time a network has made this obvious mistake.

Cute...

A film about Christmas, which I would have liked to watch at Christmas, but like this one coming out of Netflix, I had to anticipate, very cliché and cute, like every Christmas film about Christmas...

For Fans of Tia Mowry
chiltonsjillfreeport17 December 2019
This genre is always told from the woman's perspective; we start with her. IMHO, if you can't relate to that lead...there's little to hang your hat on.

Tia Mowry's Jen was so prickly from the start I never really got in her corner.

What do we learn about Jen in the first 20 minutes? She's self-important about her average job, cancels a lot with her friend, dislikes Christmas, and seems indifferent to her late aunt's death. Not to mention all the fugly blouses and nearly bust-high belts (?!).

When love interest Brian (a wasted Rob Mayes) described her as 'rude, snarky and kinda mean', I gave him an Amen.

Their lack of chemistry made me roll my eyes every time a character cited it.

One last gripe: why set this in Alaska? Any midwestern town could've contrasted with SF...without the false presence of winter daylight and total absence of Native Alaskans.

I loved this movie!!! What's with all the haters?
Cleo6625 November 2018
This was a wonderfully acted Christmas movie. No spoiler here, but honestly you already know what's gonna happen. After all, Hallmark has a Christmas movie drinking game and this one hit all the marks. Thank goodness I was drinking tea. Curl up with your favorite pet and a cup of hot cocoa and give this cute little movie a chance.

Better than Fall inn Love
lisafordeay10 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
My Christmas Inn is a 2018 romantic drama starring Tia Mowry and a special appearance from Tim Reid and Jackie Harry who starred in Sister Sister. Here Tia plays a young woman who travels to Alaska to see an inn that was belonged to her late aunt. From there she meets a handsome attorney named Brian and she has to realise what does she want to do stay at the inn or go back to San Francisco .

Overall I enjoyed this movie and if you havent watched it do check it out.

This movie was so cringy
scarlettrichardsonsweet6 December 2021
THIS MOVIE WAS HILARIOUS TO WATCH🤣 but I'm pretty sure that while they were filming this Jen and Brian absolutely hated each other. And also all the women's makeup was the same and jens hair line was terrible it literally looked like a neon orange.

Used and abused storyline
hawkie-060825 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Very predictable storyline, and seems like a lot of this movie's plot was lifted off a movie called Christmas Land (2015). But then, I guess most Christmas movies are a mash up of multiple holiday movies.

Exactly what you'd expect, but a good time as it is
I_Ailurophile25 December 2021
It's a Christmas-themed Lifetime TV movie. Those descriptors should be just about all you need to know exactly what 'My Christmas inn' is all about, and one can predict most of the plot, too. These are movies only for those viewers who are receptive to the utmost feel-good kitsch and artifice. If that's not you, don't bother watching in the first place. But if you're open to the style this represents - it's precisely what you'd expect, but at that, not bad!

The screenplay is effectively recycled from X number of any other such Lifetime or Hallmark channel features, with light flourishes of comedy or drama to complement the unending warmth. Characters, dialogue, scene writing, and the overall narrative are all nothing we haven't seen before. Familiar themes and ideas present: big city protagonist discovering small town charm; workaholic insistence versus meaningful hard work; discovering love, comfort, home. The accompanying soundtrack is characteristically upbeat and lively, with occasional touches of swelling strings as appropriate for more heartwarming scenes.

Assessing performances in films with so much flat, sparkly, campy inauthenticity is difficult. I suppose the most one could say is that the actors on hand all do a good job of making their ever-smiling characters as believable as they could be - wholly leaning into the heartfelt sentiment along the way. Some of the stars here I've seen before, most not so much; I recognize without a doubt that pictures like 'My Christmas inn' are easy paychecks - but there's no rule that says every movie has to be a groundbreaking artistic masterpiece, is there?

I repeat myself, but what it comes down to is that this is a roundly recognizable, unremarkable, lighthearted slice of cheese full of holiday cheer, and modest plot progression and character growth. It's not an earth-shattering tour de force, but sometimes a pleasant piece of uncomplicated, uninvolved entertainment just hits the spot. Anyone who isn't already on board with TV movies of such unwavering, happy-ending candor won't find anything here to change their mind. Yet for something a little different, a change of pace from the hard-charging drama and action that cinema broadly represents? 'My Christmas inn' is honestly pretty enjoyable.

My dull Christmas inn
TheLittleSongbird11 December 2021
There never has been any bias against Lifetime's output, much of it is formulaic sure and some of it has just as much corn and schmaltz of that of Hallmark's but with the right leads and the right amount of charm and heart they can have some likeability. Provided that not too much is expected from it and enough of their output has been surprisingly good, though they did a fair share of outright failures. Inns and small towns are familiar territory for them, but they have proved at times that they can do decent films in those settings.

'Snowed Inn Christmas', one of the best films of theirs seen in the past two years, is an example of a decent or more Lifetime film in inns. 'My Christmas Inn' however is an example of one of the outright failures when it comes to their inn and small town set films. It is not one of Lifetime's worst films overall and they did do marginally worse films set at Christmas in hospitality. But 'My Christmas Inn' is still a pretty poor effort and close to being towards the bottom for that year.

Did enjoy the performances of Jackee Harry and Tim Reid, who are the sources of the too brief spots of zest and dignity.

Despite the lack of authenticity, the scenery is very nice and is filmed nicely.

However, that is pretty much it when it comes to talking about 'My Christmas Inn's' good things. Tia Mowry's lead performance is too neurotic and her mannerisms and her expressions are over the top manic. Absolutely detested her character too, especially in the early portions, due to her character flaws being so over-written to the point she becomes an absolute witch. And she never really grows as a character, so her appeal is a mystery. Rob Mayes fares a little better but is too laid back and doesn't always look comfortable, his character also comes over as too nice. The two have no spark together and seem ill matched, due to too much of a personality clash. Their relationship is underwritten and under-rehearsed.

Calling 'My Christmas Inn' cliched sums it up well, both story and characters, and that is being generous. Some familiar (well actually well worn out) story tropes here, all predictably executed. The first portions are slow and quite thinly plotted, uneventful at times, and some decision making seemed contrived. The script lays it on too thick with the corn and slushy schmaltz, not unexpected but it was overkill in places. The film doesn't get off to a particularly good start, very cheesy and quite dull, while the ending is rushed and too tidy and the lack of tension and conflict severely hurts what little there is of the drama.

On the whole, not good. 3/10.

Ab ove Average Film with a Great Cast
Christmas-Reviewer5 August 2019
Review Date 8/2/2019

I have Reviewed OVER 600 "Christmas Films, & Christmas Television Movies , & Television Specials". Please BEWARE Of films and specials with just one review! For instance When "It's a POSITIVE" chances are that the reviewer was involved with the production. "If its Negative" then they may have a grudge against the film for whatever reason. I am fare. I am on a mission to watch every Christmas Movie ever produced. Since 2014 I average 100 per year.

A career woman who is up for a promotion finds herself owning an inn in Alaska that her aunt left her! One thing leads to another and in order for her to unload the property she must go to Alaska and claim it.

Upon her arrival she meets an assortment of very nice people. She also stumbles across her aunts journal and slowly finds herself relating to the evnts in the journal.

This film is for the romantic audience. It has plenty of that and a cast that knows how to deliver a line.

Didnt enjoy
linda-plant215 July 2020
Never heard of Tia Mowry, and thought her acting was a bit two dimensional. She was clearly pregnant in this movie, with all the well placed scarves, baggy shirts and artful camera work, but aside from that, there was no chemistry, so I didn't watch until the end.

The plot is not bad, but it is very simple and predictable, in addition, the romance is too forced and not believable.

Waiting for the punchlines
adamjohns-4257520 February 2021
I just don't like the lead female in this film. It's probably the third or fourth one I've seen her in and I just keep expecting it to be a sitcom. The way she acts is so comedic and exaggerated. I also didn't believe for one minute that her character would ever have a change of heart and stop being a complete B!tch!

Also, once again I find that the male lead is far too nice for this promotion driven city girl with a superiority complex. He doesn't photograph well, but onscreen he's actually really cute, although he needs a haircut and maybe a shampoo as well.

The story is the same formula we have all come to expect with this genre, but lacks that believablility. It's got the Christmas thing going for it and the romance is nice once she calms down.

It certainly won't be top of the list to watch again next Christmas, but I wouldn't say no to it, if I've watched the rest first or was really bored.
