Worth watching despite the flaws
alaaalmahdi16 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
As a Syrian refugee in Sweden myself. I felt very called out in this movie. The vast majority of people I met were very kind. But I've always felt that I had to act kinder than I am, and that's to break people's prejudgments about us, which can be sensed clearly. But I stopped doing that since I decided that I'm gonna have zero tolerance for racism and micro-racism. I'd like to say "thank you" to every person that tried to get to know me and asked about my story and our suffer.

About the movie. The story builds up slowely until it somehow intense. The acting is okay. Can be done better. I also thought that the last scene was pretty dissappointing and unrealistic especially how the girl ended up with that guy. That made her seem like a shallow charecter unlike how she was presented in earlier parts. Despite all that the movie is still worth watching if you are looking for a good message and perspective.

A world away
BandSAboutMovies23 October 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Think racism is only an issue in this country?

Monir has just arrived to Sweden from a war-torn middle eastern country together with his older cousin Farid. Living within the Swedish migrations board cabins deep in the woods with another refugee family. The forest is mystical and quiet, offering Monir a place to explore. But anger and violence is never far.

That's because the local racism rears its ugly head when our hero falls for a local girl. The solace and open world of the forest may not keep Monir safe once his new lover Moa's family realizes that she is in love with someone of a different color.

Speaking of the term color, this movie is filled with lush green hues and wide spaces, contrasting with the place that its protagonist has escaped from.

Written, produced, directed and edited by Markus Johnson Castro, this is a visually striking work that the more artful minded readers of our site should enjoy.

A low budget movie with a bad acting
meydiana-6524215 August 2021
The film has no moral message that has meaning. There are no lessons to be learned from this film, no original story of why it was stranded, very bad text script, too stiff acting, too flat story, too boring to spend hours with this low budget film. Very sorry and not worth watching. Too many uncensored porn scenes.

has a large portion of reality, ends poorly.
worldaction200919 February 2021
I wouldn't call Mounir troubled, for someone who had lost his family alongside his house he is surprisingly sane, the scenes are just breathtaking, performance is done well by most of the cast.

It is nice to watch especially if you know or have ever met a refugee in your life and would like to know what kinds of horrible things they go through going to a country with completely different culture, the final parts of the movie however showed that they weren't expecting to end it so everything had to be wrapped up, and it was done in a way that stole the charm of the movie away, sadly,

would recommend to watch, just watch out for that ending, it will catch you off guard.

A beautiful movie!
annafagerlund-8371515 July 2021
The film is really beautiful and with a clear message behind it. Do not go by what people have written in the reviews, it is only prejudices against foreign refugees that make the film have been voted down. The film builds up slowly and does not deserve to be judged until you have seen the whole thing until the end. Credible actors and good script!

A fantastic sad movie
fredrickinps7 April 2022
This movie, thanks to the cameramen and director who clearly are pure artists made these magical landscapes and scenery even more magical!

Rare to see such quality of pictures.

The story, however, is sad but unfortunately realistic.

Immigration and ignorance are such big problems.

Very beautiful, fantastic, emotional, and sad movie.

Worth watching every second of it.

Beautifully-filmed, Ghabe charts the challenges of a Syrian family in a refuge in the Syrian countryside trying to obtain permanent residence. The focus is on the troubled son and his attempts to form a relationship. Strong performances by all

True impact of war that leaves mental trauma for life
johnjarim1 April 2022
This is the true mental impact of war that leaves a scar for the life-time.

I can imagine how many children lost their parents in front of their eyes and I believe they all go through this or worse than this. The movie was able to portrayed that part nicely.

The ending was sad in this case as their are lots of success stories as well.

People who hates this movie doesn't understand the message
cloud_nr12 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
If you haven't been around or been a refugee yourself, you cannot understand the context or the message of this movie. The movie depictures the despair, loneliness and the feeling of never fitting in to a new country and its society. The feeling of never being accepted, which is a very real feeling with refugees coming here from middle east and how some swedes have faced them.

I love the naturescenes filmed by a drone and the rawness of the picture as a unity, but especially in the scene where Munir tells Moa about this traumatic experience of losing his family. Adel probably used his own experience in a way for this scene and he does it good. This scene also gets to me in a personal way because I have experienced this scene but in real life.
